| The Commitment everyone to understand what is expected of them. We ask that each volunteer focus on the job they undertook. If you are wondering about things you are not directly involved with, it's fine to ask. We might not always have a quick answer, but if it's a wondering about things you are not directly involved with, it's fine to ask. We might not always have a quick answer, but if it's a reasonable question, we do try. For example, if you did a reference check for a family, you might wonder if they adopted. Although some areas may involve privacy issues, we can usually give you a general answer. We welcome any questions that will help you learn about rescue work, or anything you are unsure about. We also expect volunteers to treat each other in a professional, or at the least, friendly, manner. We realize that this doesn't feel like a workplace, but in fact it is, and situations should be handled in basically the same way as they would be at a job. basically the same way as they would be at a job. Many volunteers will be out in the public representing SCBR. Please be sure you act and appear appropriately. Be certain you are relaying accurate information to the public about SCBR, the adoption process, and about boxers in general. If you do not know, offer to find out, or refer the question to another volunteer. Keep in mind that the public will consider you a "boxer rescue professional"! Lastly, know how much time is involved, and what the job you are committing to requires. We do our best to help new volunteers learn how to budget their time well and have many tools and resources to refer them to. Some jobs are not time sensitive, others are, such as meeting the next leg of a transport. Some jobs are long term, like committing to do interviews as people apply. Others can be completed in a few hours, such as a BRAD. Certain jobs, like the coordinators, can come close to being a full-time job and at times can require 20 or more hours a week! |
