| Our Sweet Liberty There's a little bell ringing in Heaven tonight It's our little Miss Liberty who finally took flight From the hand that was dealt her on earth far below For it wasn't a good one, that much we all know. When did her life start? How did she wind up there? Why that hard, cement kennel, so cold, so bare? What sort of creature dumps a dog at that place? There's no justifiable reason. It's a total disgrace. Though her body was wasted and she barely could eat Little Miss Libby stayed trusting, gentle, and sweet. And her foster Mom angel did all that she could To keep her from pain, hold her safe, and feel good. For one solid week Libby was loved and adored And we willed her the strength for a full life restored. And the kindest of medical treatment she knew But her breathing grew labored and our worst fears came true. She was sending the signal she was ready to go. Her last week on earth was her finest one though For her foster Mom cradled and hugged her farewell And that's when it started, that sweet little bell. That little bell's ringing in Heaven tonight Our little Miss Liberty gave up the fight But she waits at the bridge for all those she holds dear. Eternally at peace - she's at play, full of cheer. Let Liberty run free in your memory and heart And never forget why you play your own part In giving our boxers a true second chance To love, learn, and wiggle that special bean dance. With each wag of her nubbin, she's ringing her bell. If you're quiet and listen you surely can tell That she's welcoming others when not running free At the bridge where she's waiting, our sweet Liberty.
