| THINKING ABOUT FOSTERING? We are always looking to increase the number of foster homes and dogs we can help, but we need your help! During the time between rescue/surrender and placement, you could offer a Boxer shelter, patience and love. Our dogs are temporarily (1-2 weeks and up) placed in your home environment, medically evaluated, spayed/neutered and brought up to date on shots at no cost to you. All expenses (food and medical) are paid for through the donations and adoption fees we receive. Some families foster year round, seasonally, or act as emergency or short term foster homes. Some foster only pups, some foster seniors and others foster any age, that is up to you. The rewards are endless and support is always there From a current SCBR foster home: Foster # 1 arrives and you get acquainted. You figure out various signals that the dog gives for going out, wanting a drink if the water supply has gotten low, etc. You find out soon enough if the dog is house trained, leash trained, and all of that. You get the dog to the vet for the necessary shots and or surgery. Just as suddenly as the dog arrived, the dog leaves. You already know that s/he is already going to a good home. So Smile, now there is room for another dog to come into rescue. You clean the crate and await that fateful phone call or e-mail. A new adventure begins and you make another new friend. Soon s/he leaves and it is time to look forward to the next one. This one is very thin and needs fattening up, another is terribly fearful and you try to figure out what the actual cause was, another has a tumor that needs removal along with a neuter, then comes the perfect dog who just needs reassurance because he is ousted because of divorce, or a death, this one has mange and the next one is just a pup that no-one really wanted to bother with and train. There are so many and varied reasons, so many different dog personalities that need to be allowed to shine, and then you know why you are doing this. It is for the dogs! It isn't for me, it isn't for you, it is for the dogs. They can't talk, but we can help and try to protect.
