8/4/08 - Wilber just came back from a vet appointment. The good news is that the vet agrees though he is
gray, Wilber is probably closer to 6 years old than some of the older guess the shelter had. The bad news is
that he is heartworm positive. He will be going for treatment in the next couple of weeks.
7/14/08 - We have had Wilber visiting here for a few days while his foster family went away for the
weekend. I have to say I don't understand why this dog has not been snatched up yet. What a great boy!
He has a super personality and is quite a clown, he is a sweety as well. If I didn't already have 3 dogs this
boy would be my choice. He is already through the puppy training stage, he is all housebroken yet has the
spunk and heart of a puppy. He really just longs to be with you but excepts the crate as well. Although I
suspect he might not really need to be crated in his forever home. This boy has had a hard life can you find
it in your heart to bring him home and give him the second chance he deserves.
6/17/08 - Wilber has been with me for a while now and I have not updated him before this because every
time I think I have gotten to know him he changes. When he first came to my house I thought he was a tired
old man. He slept a lot and would sit for hours and just stare out the window. I think he was probably just
not sure what to expect. Then he discovered a toy he liked and started bring it to us so we could throw it for
him. He was still pretty slow and would mope around at times. Then he started wanting to play all the time.
and he played a little rough but would stop immediately when corrected. Now I think I am seeing the true
Wilber. He still likes to play but he also likes to cuddle. All along he was just looking for some love and not
really sure how to get it. He will climb up on the couch in the evening and lay down between my husband
and I waiting for some attention. After a few minutes though he just cannot contain himself and he starts
rolling all over the place and flipping onto his back. Unfortunately for Wilber he is a BIG boy and this usually
ends with him falling off the couch. That is the thing about Wilber he has no idea how big he is. I have a 40lb
boxer puppy and when the puppy was barking and being a brat Wilber got scared and jumped into my lap.
I would guess Wilber weighs about 80lbs. That is a lot of dog to have leap onto your lap. Wilber acts like a
silly puppy half the time but has the maturity of a much older dog when it comes to his behavior. He has
never had an accident in the house. He never ever gets into things he is not supposed to and he response
very well to being corrected. He is listed as being 6 years old but that is a guess. I think it is probably a good
guess though. Wilber is just one of those rare dog that carry their silly puppy spirit with them their whole
lives. Don't wait to get your applications in. Dogs like Wilber are once in a lifetime finds.
5/7/08 - Wilber is a really sweet boy that is looking for his new home. He gets along great with my dogs
and loves people he meets. He does need a home without cats though as they are too much fun to chew on!
He does have the longer hair like he has lived his life outside a lot, but he does well in the house. Poor
Wilber was dumped at a very high kill Southern shelter during the night, without his name or info. What a
sad way to be sent on your way by your family! Luckily Wilber doesn't hold that against anyone else and he
is happy to be doing whatever you are doing. He does great riding in the car and likes to sniff the air out the
window. Can you give lonely Wilber the life he so deserves?
4/24/08 - Wilber arrived today from a great shelter. He was a stray so we know very little about him. So far
he is great in his crate, great on a leash and has been friendly to everyone. We will update as we get to
know him.
