TRIXIE
NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such as
retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc.

UPDATE 7/7/08 - Trixie is the best!  She is just the sweetest thing ever.  She is doing so well, we truly
feel like she has always been here. She continues to do well off leash in the back yard.  No one can
believe how fast she can run.  She just runs and pays no attention to where she is going - she knocked
our daughter right onto her butt.  Luckily our daughter jumped right back up and laughed. Trixie and
our daughter are best buddies.  They kiss each other, lay together on the dog bed and are constantly
playing together.  It is a beautiful thing!  Trixie is still figuring out how to play with other dogs.  She is
around dogs all the time but so far her best approach is to bark at them.  She's not aggressive at all, she
just wants to play.  We're working on that.
We are all having a great summer together and are so thrilled to have Trixie!

UPDATE 6/2/08 - Trixie is awesome!  She continues to do really well.  She has been such a blessing
to our family. Our daughter is completely in love! As I type this Trixie is sleeping on her favorite purple
chair, on a pillow, exhausted from running around the back yard. If we let her, she would be sleeping in
our bed, under the covers.  Don't get me wrong...she sleeps on our bed, just not under the covers.
She starts obedience training next week and I am very curious to see how she does.  I'm looking
forward to getting some tips on getting her to stop eating off of the table and countertops. She waits for
any chance to grab some extra food.  She especially loves it when the kids eat around her...lots of
opportunity for extra snacks! :) On that note, she continues to be awesome around my daughter and her
friends.  She is such a little love bug! We love her!

UPDATE 4/28/08 - Before I talk about Trixie(who is wonderful!) there are a few people that we
would like to thank.  We have a good friend who gave us the push that we need to start this process
and without her encouragement we would not have this awesome dog in our lives.  Thank you so much
CM!  We would also like to thank Trixie's foster family.  They were wonderful to work with and
obviously took such good care of Trixie.  My husband and I felt badly taking Trixie away from the
foster family because they were so nice.  Thank you for everything!  We also want to thank all of the
people at SCBR. It is amazing that so many people work together to find good homes for these dogs
and we are really happy to have adopted with SCBR.
I would like Trixie's original family to know that we love her very much and she is being taken care of
very well.  She has a ton of toys, gets lots of exercise and even more love.
Trixie has been amazing.  We are all thrilled with how quickly she has adjusted to life with our family.
She loves playing with our daughter and enjoys "boxing" with our cat.  Trixie is a total cuddle bug and
curls up with us any chance that she gets.  She has some habits, such as eating off of the table and
counters, that we are trying to break.  We start obedience training in a few weeks and we hope that
helps with the eating and her horrible leash walking habits.
Trixie has a very sweet personality and really only wants to be wherever we are.  Every night when we
read books with our daughter before bed, Trixie curls up on the chair (or on our lap - she thinks she's a
lap dog!) and hangs out with us.  Our daughter could not be happier.  We had a boxer who we loved
dearly that died unexpectedly over the summer.  It was hard for everyone, but especially difficult for our
daughter.  Trixie, with all of her sweetness and love, is exactly what we needed in our lives.  She has
very quickly become a member of our family.
Trixie has taken her first trip to the Cape with us and loved the beach.  She was also been to many
family events and has meet most of our friends, family and family pets. Despite trying to eat everything
she can find at a party, she is so mild mannered with all of the children.  I can not tell you how happy
we are with that because we have a lot of friends with kids and Trixie has been great with them all.
We could not be happier with Trixie and the joy that she has already brought into our lives.

3/29/08 - Trixie has been adopted!

3/20/08 - Trixie is really getting settled in--she's still a little anxious when someone leaves the room but
she's much calmer now and sniffing around everywhere. AND--she hasn't had an accident in the house
since Sunday. I just dumped all of her toys out into a corner of the kitchen so she doesn't have to stick
her head in the paper bag and she's bringing things one by one over to her blanket to chew a little bit.
She's so great with cats and with kids--she's going to be a great family dog!

Here's a picture of her--isn't she beautiful?

3/18/08 - Trixie is making great progress on her housetraining! We're getting her on a
food/water/outside schedule and keep her crated when we're not around or constrained to the room
we're in when we are home. As a result, she hasn't had an accident for the past 36 hours and now goes
to the bathroom outside
without hesitation. She's still showing some anxiety about her crate and about having someone leave the
house, but she's sleeping in it at night much more calmly than she did the first night. We're working with
her on downs and down stays and starting to teach her that walking on a lead is a lot more fun for
everyone when you walk *next to* instead of *in front of* the person. She really is the cutest little girl
and such a cuddler!

3/17/08 - Trixie is a beautiful, energetic little girl whose previous owner was forced by family
circumstances to give her up. She loves to play with balls and her toys and to snuggle on the couch,
though she's a touch anxious about being in a strange place. She's shown interest in our cats, but it all
appears to be friendly "play with me!" interest that the cats dutifully ignore.  She's getting along great
with our two kids (5 and 8) and shows no signs of aggressiveness toward them.

Her previous owner obviously spent some time training Trixie, who does a very nice "sit" and seems
eager to learn more. She was house trained, but unfortunately--no doubt in part because of the stress of
change--she's backsliding and will require some work to get back to solid *outside* potty habits (we're
already working with her on this).

All in all, Trixie is a real looker who will make somebody a great family dog!

3/16/08 - Trixie is an owner surrender to rescue due to some severe changes in her owners life. Trixie
was a well loved member of the family. But her family did not feel it was fair for her to be home the long
hours she was required to stay home now. More updates as we get to know her.
