SOPHIE - Puggle (pug/beagle mix)
UPDATE 3/18/09 - We have reached the one year mark with Sophie, and she is doing great!  We
have a new baby in the home now, and Sophie absolutely loves her.  Sophie runs to find the baby when
she cries, and tries to cuddle up to her (we need to supervise these cuddle times, because Sophie thinks
she can fit in the baby's lap!).  Sophie and Ivy continue to have lots of fun together.  When we first
brought the baby home, the two dogs got into lots of mischief together, chewing up burp cloths, tossing
pacifiers around, and curling up on baby blankets.  Everyone is well adjusted now, and we're all getting
along well.  We've definitely become a very bonded family unit since we got Sophie a year ago, and we
can't imagine life without her!

UPDATE 9/10/08 - We are having so much fun with Sophie!  She has been such a great addition to
our home.  It was neat to see Sophie outside more this summer, and her curious nature certainly came
out.  She loves to sniff around outside, and to watch the birds, bugs, squirrels, and anything else that
comes along.  She and Ivy are getting along very well these days, and definitely depend on each other.
They seek each other out during the day, and won't settle down to sleep at night unless they are next to
each other.  Sophie is an active girl for most of the day, but when she settles down in the evening, all
she wants to do is snuggle.  She is a very lovable cuddlebug.  We are so happy to have her here!

UPDATE 6/8/08 - Sophie is doing very well- she is certainly a busy bee!  She has one more obedience
class left in her session, and has been a star student throughout the lessons.  Sophie is doing great with
walks around the neighborhood with our beagle Ivy.  Her leash manners have improved, and she
understands the difference between free time in the backyard, and a structured walk.  Both dogs are
loving the warmer weather, and Sophie is always excited to get outdoors.  She continues to be a cuddly
fun-loving dog, and we love having her in our home!

UPDATE 5/10/08 -   Sophie continues to do very well in her new home!  She has completely adjusted
to our daily routine, and has recently started obedience classes.  She is doing great with the classes, and
seems to enjoy them.  We recently went away for the weekend and were unable to take the dogs with
us, so both Sophie and Ivy had their first experience with boarding.  They seemed to be even more
bonded when we picked them up!

UPDATE 4/8/08 - We love having Sophie as a part of our family!  She adjusted to her new home very
quickly, and is a fun bundle of energy all the time.  She and our beagle Ivy get along well for the most
part, with Sophie as the dominant dog in the house.  Ivy, who is six years old, has really come out of
her shell in Sophie's presence.  Sometimes this is a good thing (when the girls are playing together
nicely) and sometimes not so good (when Sophie reaches something up high, and then Ivy helps her
chew it  up!).  :)  We've had a lot of laughs over their antics together.  Sophie is doing great with her
daily schedule, and does well with being in her crate for the middle part of the day when we are both
out of the house.  So far she has taken some walks around the neighborhood, and one trip to my
parents' house.  These have been very exciting adventures for her!  We start obedience classes at the
end of the month, and are looking forward to Sophie getting more used to seeing other people and dogs
outside of our home, as well as more used to leash walking.  We will let you know how that is going in
our next post!

3/9/08 - Sophie has been adopted!

1/20/08 - Sophie is an owner surrender due to a new baby in the house and no time to dedicate to her.
Sophie has never been to a vet so needs to get in for a check up and be spay. She is in heat so it will
take a few weeks to get her spay. Sophie is also very skinny so we will work on putting so weight on
her. But with that said she is the coolest dog. She is loving and sweet. She loves everyone she meets
and loves to sit on your lap. She gets along great with all the dogs in the house. She is very intrigued by
the birds and enjoys watching them. She has really bonded with my exchange student and follows him
all over. So far Sophie has been the perfect dog. Quiet in her crate, not accidents and happy to meet
everyone. I will update more as we get to know her.
