SIMON
4/25/08 - Simon is doing well at my house and over the last week we have learned a little more about
his personality and needs.  He spent 2 days at another foster home earlier this week (to make room for
me to take a different foster) and he did not do well there with the extra activity, so he came back to my
house.  The first day there the foster Mom's ex-husband came over and walked by Simon when he was
tied outside.  Simon bit his arm, but did not break the skin.   The next day he got the 11 year old
daughter on the hand when she was screaming about a spider and gave Simon a push, telling him to "get
it!".   He only slightly broke the skin on her hand with a tooth.  We think it was caused by stress of the
changes and the intensity of the moment, but for these reasons I think Simon will be best in a more quite
type of a home and without kids.

Simon has been nothing but a sweetie with me and the other animals in my house.  If you have a more
quiet home without kids and not a lot of people coming and going and know you will be able to keep
Simon out of situations that can be stressful for him, then he is only going to give back the love 100
times over!

4/19/08 - Simon was neutered on Thursday and had his shots updated and tested negative for
heartworm & lyme.  He loved seeing everyone at the vet office and just kissed everybody within leash
range!  He only weighed 52 lbs and should be closer to 60 lbs when he puts weight back on and fills
out.

Yesterday I took Simon with me to the BRAD (Boxer Rescue Awareness Day) at Petco and he did
very well.  He loved seeing all the dogs and people and tried to kiss all of them too!  He does have a
kissing fetish! LOL  He is very strong and has absolutely no training or manners yet, he is just all big
paws and tongue!  He also gets really rough when you play with him or if he gets too excited and he
growls when playing.  This can be rough on kids, so he would be best without kids in his home under
about 9-10 years old.  He is not vicous, just no clue on how to be around people.  His neck has an
area in front, under his chin, where he has no hair at all, like it was permanently worn off.  I get the
feeling he may have been left tied out a lot and just did not get much human attention or learn how to
play.  He seems to thrive on petting and wants to do nothing but be near you.

Simon loves to go for car rides and he is a great passenger.  He gets along great with my cat and is fine
with my older boxer girl, Sandi. He does try to be dominant with new dogs he meets and has had a
tussle or two with my dominant foster girl, Daisy, though.  Simon would be best in a home with a more
submissive dog and I don't think he would care if he was an only dog either.

Simon should be ready to go home this weekend.  Are you the one for him?

4/15/08 - Simon is doing great so far and is starting to get use to the routine here.  He has been fine
with the two boxer girls in the house and has met my cat, J.J., without any issues.  He has been eating
very well and loves dinner time.  Simon has an appointment this Thursday for his neutering and shots
and heartworm test.  Soon after that this very handsome boy should be ready for his new home!

4/13/08 - Simon arrived yesterday thanks to Joann & her husband who picked him up at the shelter
and brought him to meet me.  Simon was not a stranger to being picked up by the Animal Control
Officers in the area and waiting at the shelter for his owner to come get him.  Unfortunately 2 months
ago he was picked up again and his owners never came to get him, even though they were contacted
many times by the shelter.  We do not know anything more about his past.

I am guessing him to be about 3 years old and he needs to be neutered and get his shots updated and
be heartworm/lyme tested (hopefully all done this week).  He is very skinny from being at the shelter so
long, but nothing but sweet & loveable to everyone he meets (from 7-8 years & up so far).  I even got
many sneaky kisses when I was trying to take his pictures and was not watching! LOL   Today he met
my girl Sandi and my foster Daisy and he was perfectly fine with both of them (even when Daisy tried to
be a brat and growled at him).  Simon is getting use to the crate when he has to be in there and goes in
with a treat.  He has had a couple of accidents in it, but I think he is just adjusting to not living in a
shelter pen where they often have to go in their own space as they cannot get out every so many hours.

Simon loves riding in the car and spent part of yesterday traveling with me while I did some errands.
He waited patiently in the car for me the few minutes each time I ran into somewhere and was happy to
see me.  I will see how he does with my cat in the next day or so.  I can tell already he is going to be a
great companion for someone.  More updates soon!
