SAM THE MAN
7/24/08 - Sam had his second and third Heartworm treatment shots Tuesday and Wednesday.  He is doing
GREAT!  He is nice and quiet, and enjoying laying on the sofa with one of us, or on the floor in the Living
Room when we are awake.  At night he is sleeping with us in the bedroom and sleeping just fine.

Sam continues to get along wonderfully with everyone here, and also with everyone he meets.  (They just
LOVE him at the Vet's office!)  He is a great dog, and he'll be ready for his forever home in twelve days!

6/19/08 - Sam-the-man had the first of his three heartworm treatment shots today and did very well!  He
has a very severe case of Heartworm, and will have his second and third shots one month from now, 24
hours apart.  I need to keep him quiet for the next two weeks--no excitement, no running, no playing--so
that the dissolving worms don't lodge in his heart or lungs.  Luckily we have crates in the living room and in
my bedroom so he can be with us and be calm and sedate.

6/11/08 - This little boy is a DOLL!  He slept all night in the crate next to me bed without a peep.  He is so
easygoing that I let him meet HOneydew face to face on SUnday, and they PLAYED!  Until it got too
hot--a scorcher here in MAIne.  I set up the doggie pool , but noone wanted to go in it.  (I went in my
big-person pool, though because I was hot.)

He demonstrated that he IS good with young children.  He met and was WONDERFUL with the 3 year old
brother of my son's girlfriend who graduated from HS Sunday.  'Lizha LOVES dogs and Sam-the-MAn
loved him.  'Lizha was walking him around our back yard on his short leash and Sam-the-MAn did not pull
at all.  They were so cute to watch.

Other than one episode of marking-spritzing in the cellar hallway, no accidents in the house.  And
Sam-the-MAn charmed everyone at our VEts office today with his happy personality, great behavior, and
his good looks.  Unfortunately, his HEartworm is a severe case, so his treatment will take longer.   (nNot
that Imind knowlign that he'll be sticking around for a while--he is a charmer and we are so happy that he is
here in a safe home where he can get the treatment he needs and then find the home he deserves!  Thank
you Shelby ALabama Humane Society!

6/7/08 - This cute little fellow has arrived at the Riverview Boxerhostel after a long transport from Alabama.
He was a stray that was not claimed and after spending a month and one-hlf in the shelter he came to Maine
to SCBR.  HE is neutered and UTD, but is Heartworm positive so he will need to have that treated.

I've already let him meet my Beau, because his little nub kept on wiggling whenever he saw or smelled one
of my dogs.  He already showed me that he is housetrained-- peeing and pooping outside.  He's a little
underweight, but has a good appetite.  He is very friendly, and like most young Boxers has a lot of energy.
He takes treats gently, and has no food issues.

He needs bath, but I think he is happy to be here in a nice comfy home with people to hang out with (he's
laying next to me n the rug as I type).
