| UPDATE 1/31/09 - ruben's been with us for almost 2 months now and has appeared to finally settle in. he's completely healed from the tumor removal. he's eating more and slightly filled out. looks much better. tends to hang in the bedroom but loves to go for walks. not a fan of walking in the snow though. UPDATE 1/3/09 - Ruben is great. He's an easy going dog and settling into the family. Realized quickly that he's very hearing impaired so we've learned to communicate more with physical movements for him. He sleeps on his dog bed and our bed without any problems. Approximately 2 weeks ago, he had another mastcell tumor (had one removed during fostering) removed from hind leg; he's recovering nicely, staples out in 2 days. Ruben loves to go for walks, gets along fine with our other 2 dogs, and is just a pleasure all around. 12/6/08 - Ruben has been adopted! 10/9/08 - Ruben entranced everyone at the vet's today. He is such a sweetie and he is cute, too. He is now up to date on his shots and is Heartworm, Lyme and Erlichia free. He is also parasite free. Ruben is scheduled for his lumpectomy and neuter on Tuesday. No one can believe that he is 12! Ruben hasn't had a single accident in the house, not even any marking! He likes to sleep on the dog bed in my bedroom and doesn't need to be crated as he is so well behaved. This boy is a keeper! 10/6/08 - Ruben is a 12 year old un-neutered male owner surrender who arrived at the Riverview Boxer Hostel late Saturday after a long trip down from "the County" in northern Maine. He was surrendered because his owner had to move and could not take him. He is a sweetie and doesn't look or act his age--he can leap up my stairs two at a time, and had no trouble jumping into my car for the final leg of his trip into rescue. Ruben is good with other dogs, and children (he lived with them). He needs lots of vet care--he has a large tumor on his neck, some small Boxer lumps and bumps and isn't up to date on anything. We have a vet appointment for Thursday afternoon, and will get him his shots then and discuss his tumor removal. Which may accompany another sort of removal! Ruben is housebroken and crate trained. He also knows how to find the bed and the couches. Smart Boxer we have visiting! |
