10/9/07 - Princess continues to do well here but she is still waiting to be taken to her new home. She and Snowy are lying in the sunny spots on the carpet right now. They just finished up a wrestling match and are all tired out. Princess is still taking her 5mg prednisone dose and eating her fish & potato food so her allergies have not bothered her at all this summer. She is a very happy girl who loves to please. She and Snowy take turns sitting with me on the couch to be petted. We put one in their kennel and the other out on the couch with me and set the timer on the oven – equal time for both!
Princess would make someone a very good companion. She is very attentive, smart, and playful. Princess is a sweet girl and just needs to be the center of attention.
7/16/07 - Princess is doing very well. She went to see the doctor and he said she was in great shape! Her allergies are totally under control with her diet and 1/4 Prednisone and she is all up-to-date on her shots. She has been practicing walking nicely on the leash but she still pulls quite a bit as she thinks she is the boss. Once she realizes that she is not the boss, she settles down and walks nicely. Princess likes to play fetch with a plastic football in the back yard. She will chase after it and bring it back but she sometimes won't give it back to you. Princess and Snowy sometimes try to get the ball away from one another but Snowy is too big and rough and we have to tell them to stop. Princess & Snowy still get along ok if they are by themselves, but we can't show any attention to Snowy because Princess is jealous. Princess is such a little snuggler and she gives kisses when you ask her to. She is very smart and eager to please. Princess is still waiting to be someone's "Only Dog".
4/3/07 - It is with great sadness that we forward these pictures of our Princess. We know that we have to split Snowy and Princess up before anything really bad happens. Princess and Snowy get along great by themselves. The problem comes when you throw in the people and the attention - Princess can't share her people with another dog. We have had numerous fights - and the violence is escalating.
We think Princess needs to be an only dog. She is such a good girl. She is very smart and loves to do things to make her people happy. She is very snuggly too. She loves to be petted non-stop and will let you know with her paw that she's not done being petted and wants more. So far, the only dog she "gets along" with is Snowy. But that is when we are not paying attention to either of them.
She has allergies and is taking 1/4 of a prednisone every day now. (she was getting it every other day but she started itching a lot since it has gotten warmer). We had a blood test done to see what she was allergic to and it seems to be a little bit of everything. She is eating a fish & sweet potato food right now that we get from the vet.
She gets along fine with people and little kids. She is such a sweetie and we really wish we didn't have to give her up. It is very sad.
7/21/06 - I was adopted with Snowy!
7/2/06 - Snowy and Princess have arrived at the Thunder and Lightening Boxer Retreat. They were owner surrenders to a shelter. They came in together and apparently have always lived together. Although we would like to see them be able to have a home together that is probably not going to happen. We will see how they do with the other dogs here. Most of the time they are happy if they have a playmate at their new home. When they got here Melissa and I took them into the yard and turned them loose. They started running around marking (snowy) everywhere. Princess could hear the other dogs in the house barking and was getting all excited looking for them. We will try introducing them maybe tomorrow or the next day once they have settled down. I will call the vets on Monday and get them right in for a neuter appointment. Princess has some spots on her ears that will need to be checked out and I think she might be blind in one eye not that you would notice as it doesn't seem to bother her any. We will update them again as we get to know them. If you are interested in one or both of these two get your application in today. I'm sure they won't be with us long. ( Pictures coming tomorrow.)
7/1/06 - Hi all, Snowy and Princess have arrived at their foster home safe and sound. They are earlier than I expected, now they have time to run around before bed. I kind of thought there would be more traffic tie ups to get through. I'm glad it went so well. Thank you all for give these cuties a ride on such a busy weekend. We will fatten them up and get them into there forever homes soon. Great Job everyone. They will sleep safe and hopefully quiet tonight.
