| UPDATE 12/20/08 - Oscar is a hoot! What a lovable, goofy boxer he is. He definitely now know me as "momma" and follows me wherever I go. Whether that be on foot, or with his eyes as he patiently waits in the car when I go places. He LOVES to ride and does his best calm, good poochie work in the car. I take him to the dog park religiously as a means to get great excercise (run, run, run!), and socialize with other dogs. He did very well the first few months but has recently adopoted a "tough guy" attitude and seemingly bullies other dogs, specifically males, at the park. I stick with him as he exhibits this behavior and try to correct him when he gets "out of hand." He growls and butts the other dogs. I don't believe he would hurt them, but certainly not the calm, submissive behavior he had when I first adopted him. He seems to be getting a bit TOO comfortable. ha ha He has been a blessing and great addition to my life and family, and I am happy in return to give him such a great, loving home! MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL our boxer lovers and friends!! UPDATE 10/9/08 - Oscar P. Rutherford is a delight! We couldn't be any happier that we found each other. He is adjusting very nicely although today was Oscar's first "trash diving" incident. I worked with him and he listened very, very well. He is well aware I am the pack leader. He rides exceptionally well in the car and I take him most places I go that are relatively short trips. He has met many of my friends who all adore him although we still need to work on the slight "peeing" when meeting new folks. He is not consistent with this behavior so I am hoping that with time and some good work between he and I, we can overcome it. He certainly is a proud, handsome boxer and I am proud to call him my boy! UPDATE 10/1/08 - Oscar is such a sweet, sweet boxer boy. He is doing great so far. Very mellow disposition and wants to cuddle any chance he gets! He's a bit thin so we have our heartwarm appointment and vet check tomorrow, and we'll chat with the doc about fattening him up a bit! Looking to get Oscar signed up for obedience class right away although he is already one paw ahead! He listens very well and a fast learner. I love my new buddy Mr. O! Thank you SCBR :-) 9/29/08 - Oscar has been adopted! 9/10/08 - Just look at that rich dark coat. He shines! Those soulful eyes are liquid pools of "please love me" vibes being sent. He is such a nice pup, and he is ready for your home. 9/4/08 - Oscar is a very nice dog. Big, handsome, a bit mischievous, exuberant, and though a puppy, still, he behaves pretty well. He gets along very well with all 4 of my dogs. He goes all night in the crate and no longer complains about being in there. He is very good around the cats, unless one runs and then he will chase, which is natural. I don't think he would hurt one. He understands "NO", loves all toys, will sit on command, is pretty good on recall (fenced yard) and is in general pretty well behaved. He really would like to be a "lap puppy", but his size is just a bit against that. He is really ready for your home. Get your application in soon as I don't think he is going to be around very long. I will see about getting some pictures up soon. 8/31/08 - This is one smart pup! Within 2 hours of being here at the Log Cabin he had already mastered the "ins and outs" of the dog door. He seems to enjoy being outside, but likes to have company. It can be me or another dog. He does play rough, but he is just a big and very solid puppy. He is very well "put together". There is nothing flimsy about him. He is going to be a big boy once he gets his full growth. He has already gotten his toes "tingled" when he attempted to counter surf my kitchen. That is one of the very first lessons that a lot of dogs get here. Hopefully the lessons stick fro a lifetime. All I see is a pup that really wants to please. 8/28/08 - This cute, goofy, big puppy boy goes by the name Oscar Rutherford here! He came from one of our favorite shelters and I think that just sounds like a stately boy from a nice mansion in the hills! :) He was originally known as Rutherford, then he was surrendered to a shelter in July. He was adopted out from the shelter and had his name changed to Oscar for the month this home had him. They returned him to the shelter due to financial reasons and he made his way to SCBR to find his new home! He is a very nice, playful boxer pup who still does not know his size yet! He loves to play rough with Simon and my other foster, Toby and he is very curious about the fluffy kitty. Luckily he seems to just be playfully interested in my cat and even seems a little afraid of getting too close to him at times & jumps back 3 feet just by J.J. looking at him! LOL He is still learning to be good in his crate when I am at work and when he is out and about in the house when I am home. Many of the Southern dogs live their lives outside, so it takes getting use to the new routines. He is trying to learn though and I see improvements daily. Oscar has a lot of spunk and I think will be happy just about anywhere! |
