| UPDATE 10/30/09 - I can't believe it's been a year since we adopted Nala(Nayla). She is an absolute joy, we love her so much. It seems like she has always been a part of our family. I am studing to become a Veterinary Technician and I brought Nala to school with me as a model for Restraint and Handling. She was so well behaved she made me proud..but I guess not the best model for restraint! She is just a great dog..but I guess that's because she's a Boxer! We are looking forward to spending Christmas in Florida with Nala and Leo(the chihuahua side kick!) UPDATE 1/9/09 - It's hard to believe that it is going on three months with Nayla. We are just so happy with her. She is the absolute best! Very sweet Boxer disposition which works well we our little Nepolean Leo! She is just having the best time romping in the snow, skating on the ice and just all around goofy girl(she thinks she's a puppy still). When the weather cooperates we go to the dog park on weekends which they love. Other then that we are relaxing at home by the fire waiting for the winter to be over! She enjoys going to Long Island when we visit my bother and loves riding in the car. All I can say is that it is all good and she is a joy! Thank you second chance boxer for once again matching us up with a winner!! UPDATE 11/26/08 - Nayla(we now call her Nala, Naly, cutie pie, sweety, love bug..etc etc)She answers to them all! She is just the sweetest girl, it seems like she has been with us from the beginning. She has adjusted very well and her personality has truly blossomed. She is a huge cuddler and every chance she gets she is either on our laps or hogging the bed. She gets along very well with Leo(chihauhau)and is very respectful of his tiny size. Sometimes when Leo has a chew toy and Nala goes near him he will growl but Nala doesn't care after all he is just a pip squeek! We try to get to the dog park once a week and boy does she love running with the big boys! The only problem is we still are having stomach issues..she hasn't had a solid poop yet! We are still working ou it, it's a little better then when she first came to us but not right yet. Tomrrow we are going on a road trip for Thanksgiving so hopefully we will all have fun!! UPDATE 11/5/08 - Nayla is the sweetest dog. She reminds me so much of my first Boxer Emme who passed away in February of 07. At first Leo(the chihauhau) wasn't to happy to have to share his toys etc. but in just two days they have become the best of friends, they even snuggle together..all of us are one big happy family in one king bed! Nayla has some medical issues with her digestive system which we are working very hard to get under control but other then that she is the best! We took them to the dog park on Sunday and it was so cute. Nayla immediately gravitated to the two Boxers that were there and Leo hung out with a chihauhau/dachshund mix. It is amazing how they can identify their own breed! Anyway so far so good, I am really impressed at how gentle Nayla is with Leo, I guess she realizes that he is so much smaller then her and that she has to be a bit careful or maybe it's Leo's little Napolean complex thing he has going on! 10/26/08 - Nayla has been adopted! 10-9-08 - Nayla has blessed us for five days now. Can we tell you she is a complete joy to have in our home. It's like she's been here forever. Nayla seems to enjoy Ruby and follows her everywhere. She had adjusted to our schedule quite nicely. Nayla is completely house trained and crate trained. She knows when it's time for bed she goes right in with no problem. Nayla loves to snuggle especially when we are watching TV. She jumps right up on the couch and sits with my husband. When we take her outside she is quite amazed at the bunnies we seem to have in the yard. I think they are toying with her because she moves a slight bit and then they do. She has never tried to chase them though. She is really great with children - she doesn't jump or bark and I mean at all. I have not heard her bark yet! She is going to make a sweet addition to any home and may I say a "Lucky home". 10/5/08 - I picked Nayla up today from her owner. I met her half way. I know how hard it was to hand her over to me. I am so sure she didn't want to give her up, but due to personal reasons they could not keep her any longer. Nayla is very sweet. Her owner introduced me to her and she jumped up as to give me a hug. She jumped right in my car. Nayla was a perfect Angel in the car. I introduced her to Ruby and they did just fine. She is a very calm doggie. I walked Nayla around the yard and immediately she did her business. I guess with all the running around Nayla and Ruby are now napping under the coffee table on top of my feet! When my husband gets home I will have him take a few pictures of her and send them over. |
