Moxie (FKA: Ginger)
4/20/08 - Moxie has arrived!!! She is beautiful and petite.  Very good temperment.  Only complaint is she can't live with another dog.  She plays with other dogs, loves kids and people, perfect except can't live with another dog.

Sadly, Moxie is coming back this weekend to rescue to find another home.  She just did not like sharing her home with another dog and would get into fights with him.  She will need to be an only dog for her new home.  More updates soon from her new foster home.

UPDATE Dec, 2007 -
Ginger (now Moxie) was adopted!

Little Miss Ginger is going to be spayed on Tuesday, then off to her forever home in Maine. She will be the perfect "Maine-iac" she is a prankster with the dog toys. She takes them all and she puts them where she thinks the others won't find them...she hasn't figured out that they don't CARE about the toys like she does. She plays throw me the ball, NOT fetch! She doesn't give it back!!  Very funny to watch her.
She does try to play rough with the "boys" she routinely launches herself at Hercules, and when we do something and she wants a front row seat she just climbs on the back of the dog in front of her. Hercules and Lucky just take her for the goofball that she is!!

She must have been "disciplined" with a newspaper. I went out to get the paper while she was outside. When she saw the paper in my hand she flattened herself to the ground. I felt SO BAD for her. She is a super sweet, high energy. She will do well with obedience school. She really wants to please. She will do ANYTHING for a piece of Cheese!!

She has put on some much needed weight, we will find out how much on Tuesday. I think the Hookworm treatment and QUALITY food have helped her tremendously. I bought a reflective coat and put it on her when she goes outside.  She is not disciplined to come when called so, I use a 25' longe line and take her out back to run. The coat helps me to see her when she comes FLYING back to me. She will be a good girl when she is finally done with all the medicine and spaying, etc...

Ginger went to the vet today. She has EHRLICHIOSIS EQUI. Similar to lyme disease. She got medicines to treat it.  She will need to complete the treatment before she can be spayed. 3 Weeks. She weighs 46 pounds.  She is otherwise healthy. They will tell the results of her stool ample on Weds. She was very gracious about the poking and prodding. She flinched at the blood draw, and the shots but, aside from that she was GREAT.  She was even nice to the Cat in the waiting room as well as the 126 POUND German Shepherd that came in. She tried to play with him and he just didn't get it. lol. She will be an easy placement, she is a great dog.

Well, If you are looking for a Little "Spice in your life...Have I got the girl for YOU... GINGER (SPICE) !!!  She is a very sweet, cute boxer girl. Ginger is very small for a boxer at 2 years old.  I would guess her weight at barely 40lbs. She will visit the Vet for the FIRST time EVER!!  She is a smart dog, she knows her name, and "SIT" and "NO" that's where her vocabulary stops. But, she does look for visual cues.
To my angst, she is not housebroken, and has no leash training.

Her parents said "she was very quiet, didn't whine or cry. AND she DOESN"T LICK".  I don't know about any of you, But, I have yet to meet a boxer that doesn't give kisses. As for being quiet, my guess is that when crying doesn't yield a positive outcome the dog gives up.  Ginger was left home while everyone else went to work, school, etc...for 9 to 12 hours per day. I expect her house training will take some time.  I went and bought a new bottle of cleaner for my rug steam cleaner LOL!!

We are going to try and get her into the vet Monday am. By the way, Hercules LOVES her and they get along well so far...She did try to introduce herself to the Parrot (Monty is our Blue & Gold Macaw) SHE didn't know that he is Cat and Dog savvy. One tremendous scream and his full wingspan sent her running from the room!!

On another note her owner stated that she "Cleared a 5" fence" well, you can make it a lot more than that!! She took me over the fence and OFF the LEDGE (about 8') that is between my neighbor and my house!! I should have droppped the leash but, I was afraid I wouldn't catch her if I did. She is VERY FAST!!! and strong for a small dog. Thank God I am fairly athletic. LOL

I just picked up Ginger from her former parents. She is the Sweetest 2 year old LITTLE BOXER GIRL!! She has never been to the Dr's so she will go this week. She also needs schooling. She knows Sit but that's about all. She came to work with me and was very quiet and wiggly to meet all of the people here. She was fine with the activity around her and she just wants LOVE!! First impression she would be great with a tradesperson who could take her to work with them. She rides like a dream and is friendly to all. I'll have more info after we see the vet.
