5/20/08 - Mickey is a real charmer with a charming story....The ASPCA in Westchester County, NY
held a fundraiser/walkathon a couple of weeks ago. At the end of the day as the crew was packing up,
Mickey appeared out of nowhere and attached himself to one of the shelter members and wouldn't
leave. The worker took him in, posters were hung, etc., but no one claimed him. He was healthy
except for many ticks and not surprisingly, Lymes for which he is on antibiotics.
Mickey didn't handle the shelter well and lost weight rapidly. So two wonderful SCBR volunteers
coordinated his rescue - Cindy sprung him and Liz transported him on a Thursday afternoon in rush
hour traffic.
He is beautiful with huge brown eyes that say "Do I really have to go into the crate? You know what a
really good boy I am and the crate is so lonely without my best bud, Campeon who needs me!"
Mickey is a smaller boxer and exceptionally well proportioned with a strikingly beautiful shiny brindle
coat. He loves to cuddle in your lap or snuggle right up next to you on the couch or bed. Tug of war is
his favorite game. He loves people of all ages and older children. We don't know about smaller
children because we haven't any around right now!
He was a little bit timid the first night he came to us and his hair stood up when he met our 11 month old
boxer, Campeon, but after a couple of days, they are tight. They do a lot of wrestling, running and
growling. If they become too exuberant, they have a time out! In the next couple of days, we will take
a trip to the dog park to introduce him to other dogs and people.
5/16/08 - Thanks to Cyndi and Liz for bringing Mickey Finn to us last evening. Mickey is a stray who
lost weight quickly while in the shelter. He is a beautifulboy as shown in his pictures. Will update in a
couple of days as we get to know him.
