1/20/08 - Lucy has arrived here as a surrender back to the rescue. Her owner has brought her back after almost 2
years of trying to make Lucy fit in. Apparently Lucy and her boxer brother Bruno did not get along that great. There
was always fighting going on during treat time and efforts to stop the fighting weren't succesful. So Lucy was
returned to rescue. This just might be a personality clash among the dogs. Her previsous foster home, who I
understand has four or five boxers of their own, did not have any problems with Lucy. Lucy is such a sweetheart.
Very loving and kissy. She is full of boxer wiggles. We have been taking it slow around the house as far as treats
go, and feeding time is supervised. At first Lucy was a little growly when eating alone as my husband slowly
approached her eating area. So he kept his distance. When my female boxer, Cece, walked by Lucy's eating area
Lucy lunged at her and we did have to break up a fight. We feel Lucy may have been through a lot in her past with
other dogs and that she may not realize there is no threat here. We only had her for two days, so we will give this
more time and work with her on this. Other then this...she is a really sweet girl. She sits, gives paw, lays down
and comes when called. She is a kisser and very loving. I am sure that with the proper fit for a new family she can
be an ideal addition.. Stay posted on this little sweetheart....she may not be in foster long.
UPDATE 5/9/06 - Just thought I'd send a quick update on Lucy. We've had her just over a week now and I can't tell
you enough about what a joy she is. Bruno and her are inseparable and have been from the minute I brought her
home. I've never had a female boxer before (all males) and what a difference...quite the lady. She is still intrigued
by fuzzy the cat but simply stares at him and tries to lick him. Fuzzy stares right back. It will probably take a bit more
time until Lucy figures out what a cat is!!All in all it has been great and Lucy has found her home! We love her.
UPDATE 5/2/06 - I brought Lucy home on Sunday and couldn't be happier. My other boxer Bruno has found instant
love with Lucy. She is the sweetest thing and my kids and I get a huge kick out of watching them play and play and
play. They wear us out! I have signed Lucy up for obedience training at PetSmart with Jill. From my first experience
with her I think she will do just fine. I posted a few pictures of Lucy's first day at her new home.
4/30/06 - Lucy has been adopted!
4/24/06 - I would like to inform everyone that Lucy has fit in nicely with the 5 other boxers here. She is a wonderful
two yr old female with a lot of love to give! She really likes playing with everyone and I even think she fancies our
Gunther...LOL Her family very sadly had to surrender her due to the child's severe allergies.
Gail dropped Lucy off yesterday Sunday April 23rd 2006 @ 5:00 p.m. It took very little time for all the dogs to
become friends...about an hour. Once they became friends with one another things were fine. She was too
nervous to join everyone in the bedroom at bedtime last night, so we will go slowly with that.
Lucy is wonderful very playful, loving, sweet, and a shame to have had to surrender such a beautiful female boxer.
I will be putting photos up this week of her outside so we can get a good look at her.
FROM ONE OF LUCY'S TRANSPORT VOLUNTEERS:
4/23/06 - Lucy was perfect in the car. Perfect. My dogs should be so perfect. I do not think she will be around long.
She was very quiet when she first arrived at her foster home, then she thought ..........I really like it here..........and
started to play. She is perfect. I hope that she remained that way after I left.
