| 12/4/08 - Lucky has some good news and some bad news. The bad news is he has Kennel Cough (a doggie cold)--which really isn't too bad--and he is on antibiotics for that. The good news is is that he neuter went just fine and he is at home resting peacefully on the dog bed after a nice big dinner. And that means that he is now ready for his forever home!! He so charmed one of the new vets at Southern Maine Vet Care that he almost found a forever home that was not yet SCBR approved. (Not really, but everyone there thinks rightly so that he is fabulous). And they all think that Boxers in general are great dogs, so I love bringing all of fosters in to be oohed and ahhed over. 11/30/08 - Lucky is now up to date on his shots and is parasite free--neither Heartworms nor intestinal worms are affecting him. And he goes in for his neuter on Thursday--which means that he will be ready for some lucky family then. 11/26/08 - What a gentleman! He is having so much fun with Heidi, and puts up with her antics longer than anyone would think he needed to. He is so gentle! And when I decide that he doesn't need to tolerate her anymore, I can let him relax with Ruben because he gets along with him just fine too! Our cat hasn't been hanging around much lately so I can't speak to how he'd be with a cat, but I'm sure we'll find out soon. Lucky gets to go to the Vet's on Friday for his shots and a heartworm test, and then as long as he is ok, he'll go in for his neuter next week. Then he will be ready to show you how lucky you are when he goes home with you! 11/24/08 - Lucky!!! That is what the Riverview Boxerhostel is to have the pleasure of fostering this handsome gentleman for what I am sure will be a very short time. Because someone will be hitting the jackpot for sure when he comes to their forever home. This guy is perfect! Good looks, great personality and the perfect age--not too old and not too young. He is kind and gentle and playful without being hyper. Lucky is crate trained, but doesn't seem to have any bad behaviors that would necessitate crating. He doesn't chew, and seems to be housebroken--he hasn't even been marking in the house, and for a young male that is a nice change. Lucky is so easygoing that he has already met my other foster--a young female--which was not a problem at all. That went so well that he has also met my Ruben, who is also easygoing, and that is going fine as well. We haven't tried him out for a walk yet, but my guess is that he will be as gentle on a leash as he is other ways. Lucky is giving thanks as this Thanksgiving Day approaches for being out of the shelter and into a warm safe foster home while he waits for his forever home. He also gives thanks to the shelter workers who turned him over to SCBR and to his transporters who brought him all the up to Maine from New Jersey. And we at the Riverview give thanks that this wonderful fellow gets to spend a few days with us. |
