LUCKY
2/2/08 - Lucky has turned out to be very unpredictable outside the house with people. His foster home
has worked very hard with him, but unfortunately Lucky is not doing any better.  Since we have
determined he is just not safe to be placed, his foster home has decided they would be happy to have
Lucky stay with them.  They know and understand his issues and limitations and will not put anyone or
Lucky in jeopardy.  Congrats Lucky!

12/18/07 - Hi All, Lucky was neutered on Friday. He was really good at the Vet's. He weighs 76
pounds!!! Yeah, at last he broke the 70 pound mark!! Cats and Delivery guys are a definite No for
him. If he could get thru the door, the mailman would be lunch. I tried putting the soft muzzle on him and
introducing him that way. All of Lucky's fur stood up. He is not a big barker outside, he is very
watchful. We will have a lot of coming and going over the Holidays and we will see how he does. He
and Hercules took an accidental slide down the hill in the backyard. They love to play and romp out
there, well, we had freezing rain and the snow crusted over and they bolted out the back door and
couldn't stop once they started slipping down the hill. They both had the look like "What just
happened?" and they looked at EACH OTHER as if trying to figure it out!! Lol! Even funnier was me
hauling them back UP the hill using their leashes... One step up, two steps back... We were laughing so
hard by the time everybody was back in the house it was VERY Funny!

12/7/07 - Lucky is doing very well, he has gained a little weight and he finished his kennel cough
treatment today. He still has "Cujo" moments at times particularly when Food is involved. Mostly he
snarls and growls, he has not gotten physical about anything in a week. The last time he did anything
nasty was when my husband tried to stop him from lifting his leg on the furniture, Lucky lunged at him
when my husband raised his voice. Then he stopped and stared at my husband, when my husband told
him to "get in his bed"  Lucky went right away.  He is super sweet most of the time, I think it is just
going to take time for him to regain trust of people. He is making progress, I think the fact that he gets
steady meals and love has helped considerably!! We just have to replace his bad memories with good
ones (and LOTS of FOOD). Although he has put on weight he is still a skinny, tall boy!! Besides, now
that Ginger has gone to her forever home things are a lot quieter! LOL!! He now shares the chew toys
with Hercules without any snarling. He was great with the Vet and he is going to be neutered on the
14th. Also, the vet thinks he is older, closer to 4yrs.

11/19/07 - I picked up Lucky from Mo.  He is a stray to a local shelter that called us to help.  Mo said
the shelter guys LOVED him and they contacted SCBR because this is too good of a dog to be put
down. He rode well, he seemed a little nervous about where/ how the ride would end. It seems that a
family adopted him from the pound but brought him back the next day. The ride home was almost an
hour.  We came in the house he met my husband with BIG BOXER KISSES.  My husband was
exasperated at the prospect of TWO fosters at once...But, He melted right away at the condition of
Lucky. Lucky is a Tall boy, and he is VERY  HANDSOME (the parrot even told him he was pretty!!
lol) But, he is skin and bones. There is enough loose skin to make a whole 'nother puppy!!   My
husband wanted to feed him right away.  This poor guy has been thru some "stuff".  He is quietly in his
crate as the other 2 boxers bark at him.
