LILLY
(NOTE: Due to my hearing impairment, I will need a home with a fence and someone that is home more often (ex: at home parent, work at home, work opposite shifts, retired, etc)

4/24/08 -
Lilly, i dont know where to begin.  She is not the same dog that left here in Feb.  She is fighting with my dogs where as before they were all best buds now......i dont know!  It is hard for me to work with her with 4 other dogs in the house and i dont have the space to block her off in one room so she spends most of her day in the crate.  I try to let her out as much as possible but like i said it is hard.  Ice wants to play and she gets carried away and gets rough, Ice is a big pussycat so he doesn't know what is going on.  I think although she is deaf she will need to be an only dog, so.... if you are looking for that one on one companionship Lilly would do great she is a sweet dog and loves to snuggle and gives great boxer kisses, she just cannot share the limelight with any other dog or cat!  She even as so much tries to catch birds as they fly by  lol!  Please if you want a lifetime companion consider Lilly she needs to get out of the crate and into your heart!

4/8/08 -
Lilly is regretfully coming back into rescue she is being quite the diva as far as dominance goes with the other female in the house, to the point where it is not safe for either dog and sadly the owner is returning her after many weeks of training and consulting with experts.  Lilly may need a male dog companion as she is deaf and might not be right for female companionship.  More to come on Lilly bug once she settles in tomorrow!

UPDATE 4/4/08 - Lilly is slowly settling in. After the first week there started to be some setbacks due to Lilly picking some pretty big fights with our other dog that would occur with no warning.  We honestly began to think we might have to return her in concern of both her and the other dog’s safety, which broke our hearts to think of such a thing. Fortunately there have been no fights in over a week and we’ve been diligently working with training and teaching her to focus on us versus the other dog.  I think she’s starting to realize that she has nothing to worry about and that we have enough love for both her AND the other dog.  J
Lilly is an incredible snuggler and makes it extremely hard to get up in the morning.  She is my new excuse when I’m late to work.  Who wants to get out of bed when there is a nice, warm boxer snuggled right into you?  Lilly’s confidence is growing quickly also, at first she had to make sure someone was in her eye site at all times.  For a while there she didn’t believe me when I’d tell her that I was not going to climb out the bathroom window and I really will be right back!  Now she doesn’t bother scratching at the door she just sits politely and waits.  Lilly also goes outside now without me having to go out with her every time, but she does check to make sure I’m watching her from the window.  She is such a quick study and so far has learned the signal for crate (her least favorite), outside (her most favorite), sit and good girl.  We’re also trying to teach her “flower” in sign for her name, as there is no quick way to sign Lilly.  I’ve also learned that if she gets really excited when I’m signing for her crate, I’m most likely actually signing for outside (oops).  She is not really fond of her crate but now I don’t have to pick her up to put her in it, she will grudgingly go in when given the sign and a polite nudge in the right direction.  She initially was having accidents in it as well but once we started actual crate training that has stopped.  Lilly is also such a great walker, does very well on her leash and does super in the car too.  She does equally well in her bath, I just need to convince her that it is not okay to drink the soapy water while I’m washing her!  She loves running around the yard like crazy and getting the other dog in on it too, it is so funny to watch.
Lilly started obedience class this past Monday and she did so unbelievable well, especially considering all the other dogs around her.  I was nervous but didn’t need to be!  The trainer has deaf dogs of her own so she’s given me some great advice and pointers.  I’m looking forward to Lilly graduating in seven weeks and I know she’s going to do just great.

UPDATE 3/3/08 - Aw! Lilly is doing great too! Except we're still working on the cats, she REALLY likes to chase them so they've been chilling out in the basement for now. They've learned to wait until it's quiet upstairs and then they sneak up for some quick lovings before the dog wakes back up. Lilly has a canine sister (not brother) that she gets along with really well. She sure does tire her out though, especially outside. While Lilly does laps in the yard her sister Liebe has learned to just wait until she gets close again before she chases her a little more. She just cannot keep up with the entire lap lol.
She is such a snuggler and it sure didn't take long for her to find a place in our hearts. Her powers of observation are incredible (I think because she is deaf her vision is ten fold!) and I am always amazed at the things she notices. At the same time it is often quite funny. Liebe still cannot understand what in the world Lilly is chasing 99% of the time (light reflecting off her tags, sunbeams, flashlight, power light on the computer) and I swear she rolls her eyes at her. I am so grateful that we were able to adopt from SCBR
and especially Lilly. All of my interactions with the various volunteers were great. Everyone was so nice!
On the note of the cats....any idea how we can work on her knowing they are our friends and not objects to chase? Any good training or exercise tips on that? I'd be very appreciative of the help.

I'm sad and happy to say Lilly found her forever home and is doing great she has 2 human sisters and a canine brother along with 4 feline brothers and sisters  lol!  She will have a busy life keeping up with everyone in the house  lol!  Her new mom fell in love with her immediately and could not wait to surprise her daughters with Lilly!  Everyone is doing good and i wish Lilly all the best!  Congrats to Lilly and her new family!

2/22/08-
Well Lilly is doing great , she gets along with all and is a trip to live with  lol!!!   When she is hungry and i do not get up quick enough to feed her she flips the food bowls around until i get up and give her some food!  Her and Ice are like best buds they play, clean each others ears and just plain romp around like crazy!  She also likes to play with  socks so i have to keep a stray sock tied up in knots for her or else she will  steal
mine lol!  She is a love bug and lets my daughter do just about  anything to her and loves to nibble at you when you scratch her itchies.   Lilly has a lot of energy and needs someone who can run her ragged or she will  get you lol!  Lilly is very intrigued by the ferrets and will watch  them play for hours and sniff
at them, although she is more cautious now cause  they bit her  lol she didn't get hurt it was a love bite!  Lilly has  herself all tore up again cant seem to keep her on a itchy free food i think we  will have to spend the
big bucks on some dog food just for her but it is so hard  to feed her separate from the other 4 dogs they want what she wants and she  wants what they have its a vicious cycle  lol!  Lilly is so loved here  in her foster home but truly needs a home of her own one that can accommodate  her needs and love her, my
dogs are jealous of her because she is so darn cute  she gets what ever she wants  lol!  Well, Lilly waits to hear from you  if you are the one for her she is a beautiful small boxer girl and very  loveable.

1/3/08-
FINALLY AN UPDATE ON MISS LILLY!!!! SORRY IT HAS TAKEN ME SO LONG IT IS JUST THAT SHE FITS IN SO WELL I FORGET I AM JUST FOSTERING HER LOL!!! LILLY IS A VERY LOVING AND SNUGGLY BOXER! SHE IS DOING VERY GOOD HEALTH WISE BUT HAD TAKEN A STEP BACK ON HOUSE TRAINING WE ARE POOPING IN THE HOUSE AT THE BACK DOOR! SO FOR A WALK WE GO ON A LEASH TO POOP. SHE IS GETTING THE POINT NOW THAT WE GO OUTSIDE NOT INSIDE, HER PROBLEM IS SHE HAS TO KEEP UP WITH THE OTHER DOGS AND FORGETS WHAT SHE IS OUT THERE TO DO LOL! SO WE WALK OUT OUR BUSINESS FIRST THEN PLAY TIME. WE HAVE GOTTEN THE FOOD ISSUE SET (I HOPE) SO FAR SO GOOD, NOW WE JUST NEED A HUMIDIFIER CAUSE ALL THE DOGS AND ME ARE ITCHY FROM THE DRY HEAT OF THE FURNACE. ALL IN ALL LILLY IS A PLEASURE TO HAVE AROUND AND WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT ADDITION TO ANY HOME!

11/28/07-
Well I think we may have found a food for Miss Lilly that don't give her the itchies !!! yeah !! She had herself all scratched up and raw from itching so bad I would try to catch her and rub her instead of her clawing herself to death but it is hard to catch her she is fast lol! She is just a little love bug and she knows it lol! She is very fond of Ice and Betty dog they are always playing sometimes too much, I found that I need to walk her at night due to the fact that she plays and forgets to do her business outside..... so a little walk at night and she is good to go! She is also on a short term treatment of prednisone to help clear up some of the rawness she has caused well it wont heal it but it will definitely keep her from itching which will cause more rawness. I feel so bad for her she can't have any treats or table scraps because we don't know what it is that he is allergic to. Well, she is doing much better and patiently waiting for her forever home to come along.

11/9/07 -
Hello everyone Lilly here, I am having the time of my life here at my foster home.  I am in training for my forever home.  Although I get scolded when I jump I still like it and it is worth getting a finger waved at me  ha ha !  I am a great snuggler i can fit most anywhere cause I am small, compact boxer  lol!  I have the itchys all the time I need some special food so I can stop itching , we are testing different foods now to see what I can eat,  I think foster mom said it is venison and potatoes I dont know I leave that up to foster mom she does the shopping around here not me (thank god)  lol!  Oh did I tell ya there is an 11 yr old girl here that loves to play with me she has started this new game of chasing a flash light  lol it is totally fun.  I can almost catch it, but it is very fast and I know with lots of practice I will catch the light  lol!  Well, that's all for now I gotta go play some more, I am waiting to receive your call to adopt me!

10-26-07  -
Well, Miss Lilly has skin issues.  We are not sure if it is allergies or food, so the vet has her on antibiotics and steroids and we did a cycle of ivermectin cause she was previously diagnosed with demodex and the vet wanted to cover all bases so the next step will be to change her food.  I am having a problem with Lilly jumping on new people who come in the house.  She really needs a good trainer to get her attention and get her to stop jumping.  I am not having any luck with her  I think it is too many dogs around i have 5 including Lilly!  She is very petite so it isnt too bad just annoying  lol!  So if you think you can handle the challenge of an active young boxer girl dog, then Lilly is for you!

9/29/07 -
Well Lilly Bug went to the vet because she was very itchy.  We found out is is an allergy problem and not demodex like we thought  (see she had demodex before and i thought it was coming back  lol)  silly me!  Lilly weighed in at 43 lbs wow i cant believe she weighs that much!!  She is really tiny for a boxer, I myself have never seen one so small!  But she is definately in good health and can be spayed the end of October!  That will be a hard day for me cause she is very playful and energetic keeping her quiet is gonna be hard  lol!  Lilly is a very excitable dog, when we got to the vets she just wanted to jump all over everyone and kiss and play.  Then when the dr came in the only way we could calm her down was to rub her belly  lol! Lilly loved the ride to the vet and back she is a good girl.  She will make a loving home even more loving  so keep Lilly in mind when putting in that application!!!!

9/16/07 -
Well Lilly survived her first night and is already in general population, she is a love bug and so tiny  lol!  She slept with my daughter in the recliner (we slept down stairs so there were no accidents ) and there were none  yeah for Lilly!  She is a little sniffer she sniffs everything and loves to check out the other dogs if you know what i mean  lol!  She has also discovered the ferrets and is fine with them she just sort of stares at them wondering.  She has not been around the cat yet but soon it will happen.  Lilly is not paying attention to my signs i think i will have to call Jeri or Gail  lol!  She knows to jump on the back door to go out so that is good, this morning we all went out and she didn't do #2 so i watched her in the house and sure enough she jumped on the door and out we went.  She did her business and i petted her to say good girl!  She definitely does not care for the crate she will bark until you let her out.  She is a little booger when it comes to the crate but hopefully she will get used to it soon.  She is on meds for her tail we think it is allergies so i give it to her with cheese and she is a happy camper about it  lol!  We discovered she loves peanut butter  she helped lick the spoon for my daughter  lol!  Well, more to come on teeny tiny Lilly (I say that cause she is half the size of my boy, Ice).

9/15/07 - Well Lilly arrived today fully in heat and man o man are my dogs going nuts  lol!   She is gorgeous and very tiny, she actually barked when she saw me come towards the car and was full of jumping kisses!  Right now she is in her crate settling in and getting used to the other dogs we have 4 here besides Lilly.  Once she settles in I am certain she will fit right in with the others and follow the routine here.  She seems like a super dog and did I mention she is gorgeous?  lol!  I want to thank Gail and Jeri for the long hall and stopping at the store and buying a reusable diaper, Lilly dont seem to mind it right now lets just hope she is not a houdini and escape from it  lol!  I will update you more once she settles in.
