7/9/08 - Katie has been here for a few weeks. We agree with the posts so far! She is a happy lab type,
who loves to fetch and swim. We have had 6 dogs here and she has gotten along well. Katie has no
trouble telling them to back off if needed, but is playful most of the time. ( We have an annoying teenage
type dog here, and he needs to be "told" sometimes...) Katie has a short gait behind, ( takes small
steps, does not slow her down at all, but worth knowing about.)
She comes when called, and we have had her off leash daily. She has never wandered, prefering to stay
with her "people". We live in a big open place, and there is plenty of chance to run . We have realized
that she loves to swim! When we let our dogs out, she goes straight for the pond. Katie is an all around
sweetie and is always happy to see us!
Katie is protective of her food and kennel around other dogs. (Barks and growls if they get too close
and bug her.) People are a different story, I have taken food, toys, etc away without any issue. But
something to keep in mind. She loves the kids here, we have 12 YO and up, and have had much
younger visitors. Loves belly rubs!
She is good in the house. I do not think she has spent much time inside, and is always ready to go out,
but is obedient and no "accidents." She did get a pkg of eng muffins off the counter once but has not
repeated that bad thing! Katie is an all around sweetie and is always happy to see us! We would love
to see her in a great home!! And, if she does not get adopted, we love her, she can stay here! (we like
her that much) She would be good with other dogs, or by herself. Her pics do not do her justice at all,
she is very pretty.
6/16/08 - I don't know where to start with this girl. She is amazing. Katie is the perfect family pet. She
loves everyone, her tail never stops going 100 miles an hour. She absolutely loves to play fetch and will
bring it back and place it at your feet as long as you will keep going. She is wonderful with all the other
dogs here, big, small male or female. Katie loves the kids and going for rides makes her very happy.
Katie is great in the house and just wants to be loved. She is on an exercise plan and is shedding some
much needed extra week. If you are looking for the perfect family dog, go no further. She is right here.
6/7/08 - Katie was surrendered to a large shelter due to the family having to many animals. She has
lived with 5 other dogs. I believe she spent a fair amount of time outdoors. It is clear that she is well fed.
Her surrender paperwork says that Katie loves to play fetch, swim and go for rides in the car. When
we went on a walk today, all she wanted to do was get in the car. Katie just arrived today after a long
transport so we will update you as we get to know her better. Katie seems to be very sweet.
