JASMINE
(NOTE: Due to my hearing impairment, I will need a home with a fence, another dog and
someone that is home more often (ex: at home parent, work at home, work opposite shifts, retired,
etc)

UPDATE 1/12/09 - Jazzy is a very healthy girl.  She has put on a couple pounds because we have spoiled
her with treats but she still looks great.  She is such a lover....she likes to sit in our lap (as if she was a small
55lb lap dog) or sit in the same small computer chair as us when we are using the computer.
My daughter loves to share her toys with Jasmine by dropping them out of the pack n play.  Jazzy will then
run away with them and chew on them.
Some Puppy Problems.....
When Jazzy feels she hasn't been getting enough attention, she likes to steal things (anything she can get her
paws on) and chew on them....we are working on fixing that.  But thats a part of being a puppy.
Jazzy also likes to counter surf....and when she does she turns on the oven....not safe so we are keeping on
top of that.
Good News.....
Jasmine has completed her obedience training and I am suprised on how well she did.  Every week she
received many compliments from the trainers and other dog owners in the class on how much she has
improved.  We use a laser pointer to get her attention when she is outside and that works really well.  She
gets very excited over it.  We have trained her so she needs to make eye contact with us before we activate
the laser and when she makes eye contact we trigger the lazer as a reward.  This way we have her attention
so we can utilize our hand signals.  SA cute thing she does is she likes to bump the lazer with her snout....I
think she thinks shes turning it on.
We discovered during obedience class that she may have some potential competing in agility courses.  We
may enroll her in agility class because she loves to climb ramps and walk across planks.  She can even jump
through a hanging tire.  She is very talented.  We often find her on top of our hot tub at home...
Some not so good news....
We have run into a potential problem with doggy treat aggression.  Jasmine and our other female seem to
protect their treats from each other and if one of them gets to close while the other is eating it...the other
snaps.  Then that triggers a fight.  We are trying to work this issue out.  This doesn't happen over their food
though....just treats.
Thats all for now.

UPDATE 11/30/08 - Jazzy is doing just fine at her forever home.  Her new boxer sister and brother love
her and she loves them too.  My 10 month old baby loves her too!  She loves to mouth wrestle with our 5 yr
old boxer Tyson and she could play tag for hours with our 2 yr old boxer Bonnie.  Our family just loves
her!!!  She is super sweet.  Every where we go she gets compliments on who pretty she is.
Today she went to the vet for her one year visit and she got a few shots and some pills for her poopy
issues....she wasn't pleased.  She also got microchipped today because she has jumped our fence 2-3 times
which makes her us worry.  So her daddy has been working hard on making the fence taller...she hasn't
been able to get over it now...but lets all knock on wood.
Its been a new challenge for us to get use to the fact that she is deaf....we often find ourselves talking to her
and and calling her but we have to remind ourselves that she can't hear us.  Call us crazy but sometimes we
think she can hear certain sounds...who knows though.
Jazzy will be going to her 1st obedience class Tuesday night...last Tuesday was just for us.  At the vet today
I noticed that she gets distracted very easily so class maybe difficult with all the excitement.  I started her
already with some sign language...she is smart so hopefully she will catch on quick.
Jasmine still has seperation anxiety but we are working on it.  She is crated with our 2 year old.  She doesn't
like being crated but she doesn't put up a fight when its time to go in...she just moans and barks when we
leave.
Sleeping is difficult for my husband I now that all 3 dogs want to sleep with us....next task is to break all 3 of
this habit.
Thats all for now!  Wish us luck!

11/16/08 - Jasmine has been adopted!

7/20/08 - We picked Jasmine up this past Monday. Jasmine is a beautiful white boxer with a fawn patch
(with a little black) over her right eye. She also has a fawn patch where her nubbie meets her body. Jasmine
is almost 7 months old and she is deaf. She doesn't know any hand signs yet, but we are working on that.
Jasmine is up to date on her shots and she was just spayed on Thursday. She weighs in at 44 lbs. but she
needs to gain a few lbs. Jasmine gets along very well with kids of all ages, other dogs, and we are unsure
about cats. She wasn't crate trained when we got her but she stays in one at night and when we are not
home with no problems. Jasmine for the most part is housetrained but we've had a few accidents. I believe
this is because of the stress of a new place and not knowing her routine. As we get to know her a little more
we will be sending in another update.
