UPDATE 6/20/08 - Today we have had Jamison for 3 months. Nothing has changed, he is still an
absolute pleasure, well mannered and a sweetheart. From day one he has been a great addition to our
family. Last night Jamison and I went on a long walk and it started to rain, actually, it poured. It didn't
phase him, he loved every minute of it. We were still quite far from home, so we walked about 30
minutes in the rain, he was fun to watch. I think he loves every minute of everything!
He is quite the big boy, 80lbs, but is such a sweetheart. We love him so much. Could not have been a
better match.
UPDATE 4/20/08 - Today has been a full month since the day we got Jamison. As my other posts
have indicated, he is doing great and still is the best dog ever! He is still doing fantastic and is apart of
our family.
He sleeps with our almost 4 year old son, every single night. We are in a great routine and it has
actually helped our son sleep through the night and stay in his room and not come into ours. When we
go in his room around 11-12 each night to check on him, we see our son with his legs laying on top of
Jamison and both of them are passed out!
He is absolutely wonderful. Can't say enough good things about his laid back manners and how easy he
has been.
we will update again soon.
UPDATE 4/6/08 - We are heading into our 3rd full week of having Jamison. We cannot believe how
easy the transition has been. Actually, there has not been any real "transition". He is as easy as they
come. He is perfect. Just as his foster mom said, he does not need to be crated and is such a
gentleman. He gets along with our son, our dog and stears clear of our cat (actually she stears clear of
everyone). And he loves to be with us.
On the 29th we took him to a local meet-up for dogs and he was bitten pretty severe on one of his ear
and after surgery and some stitches, he is well on his way to being fixed. For the past 10 days we have
had to keep the dogs seperate, and they act like it is killing them! I know that when they are able to
play again they are going to make up for lost time and knock all kinds of furniture around.
Jamison is our gaurd dog, if there is the slightest of noise outside, he barks, which we don't mind. He
sounds like a big bad boy, but he is just a sweetheart. He greets new people very well and does not
jump or anything. We just cannot believe how good he is and what a perfect fit he is into our family.
Thank you SCBR you all have been so wonderful to us and answer any questions that we have at any
time. You are a fantastic organization doing a great deed for our four legged family members.
Thank you!
UPDATE 3/21/08 - We are into our second full day of having Jamison. Jamison is an awesome boy!
Our entire family (humans and dog) are so happy he is here. We are all still adjusting but he is doing
great. He and our first pup, Spencer, have played quite a bit. Spencer is constantly trying to get
Jamison to play, even after they are both sopping wet with slobber. Spencer is definately the dominate
dog and shows this by not letting Jamison have any bones or toys. But no growling or fighting or any
sort of conflict has transpired. Jamison is truly the sweetest dog and he has not spent 1 second in a
crate. When he is tired, he retires to his old and new dog bed. He just lays there, so sweet.
He is great with our 3 1/2 year old son. Our son is not used to a dog sitting still and wanting to be pet.
Jamison takes all of the petting and touching anyone can give. Our son asked where all of his hair went
(since Spencer is a Golden and has a ton of hair).
Jamison is doing great, does great on a leash and is a true joy and so easy to have around.
Maybe he can teach our 1.5 year old puppy some things about manners! :) We will update again soon.
PS We have some great pictures of him with our son and his new brother (Spencer).
3/20/08 - Jamison has been adopted!
1/22/08 - Jamison is such a sweet, lovable, wonderful boy. I can't believe he's still waiting for his
forever home. With a lot of patience (on our side) Jamison has stopped barking at every little noise. The
only time he really barks at anything is when someone rings the doorbell. We can't get over just how
obedient Jamison is. If you tell him to go lay down or sit he does it without hesitation. I can't think of
one negative thing about this guy. He's just been a great joy to have around and it's going to be sad to
see him go. Our other dogs have gotten use to his tail. Whenever they see his tail wagging they duck out
of the way or back up. Ever since we got another foster (Nala), Jamison acts like he's a young pup. He
can play with Nala for hours and he's very gentle with her. We give Jamison free reign of the house and
he never needs to be crated. We recently found out that if Jamison is let off of his leash he will stay by
your side. Wherever you go, he will go. More updates to follow....
1/9/08 - Jamison is continuing to do very well. He tested heartworm negative, weighed in at 79 lbs, and
is all up to date on his shots. When we took him to the vet he just stood there and let the vet do
whatever he wanted. Jamison hasn't had any accidents since he's been with us. He continues to get
along great with our other 2 boxers and enjoys rough housing with Noah (our boxer boy). We are
working on trying to get him to stop barking at every noise or person walking by the house. It's a
difficult task since he feeds off of Nikita's (our boxer girl) actions. Jamison is such a cuddler. At night he
sleeps on his bed but if you're laying or sitting on the couch he likes to be laying right next to you.
Jamison had quite a bit of tartar on his teeth when we first got him. By him chewing on the nylabones
and the rawhides we give him his teeth look so much better (and his breath smells a lot better too). The
rawhides don't seem to last him very long. Jamison is a gentle dog that loves to give lots of kisses. My
husband and I take all the dogs for a long walk in the evening and Jamison is very good on a leash.
Jamison is such a wonderful boy and would make a great addition to any family.
12/19/07 - We picked Jamison up on Saturday from his owner. He was surrendered because the
owner's little boy was allergic to him. Jamison is a beautiful fawn boy with a white chest. He still has his
dew claws and his tail. It only took Jamison a couple of days to settle in. We on the other hand have
had a hard time adjusting to his tail. We had to move all the breakable ornaments from the bottom of
the Christmas tree so he wouldn't break them. Jamison also likes to try to use the tree to scratch his
back. Somehow from wrestling with our boxer boy Noah, they managed to turn the tree in the stand.
He gets along great with our other 2 dogs. Jamison spends most of his day playing with my husband,
chewing nylabones, and playing tug-of -war.
Jamison is an all around great dog to have around. He doesn't seem to be bothered by much of
anything, except when the doorbell rings. When he hears the doorbell ring he starts to bark and goes to
see who it is. Jamison is great around kids of all ages. The one thing we are not sure of is if he gets
along with cats. We'll be taking Jamison to the vet tomorrow to get him up to date on his shots and have
him heartworm tested. More updates to follow shortly.
