| UPDATE 12/15/08 - Shabby continues to make everyday a little more interesting, from howling at the answering machine to running circles around her apple that she has everyday in the yard! We absolutely adore her. She is such a sweet girl and continues to be such a love to all who stop by and especially to the littlest people around. Thank you again for helping us find such a fabulous addition to our family. Much love and Happy Holidays. UPDATE 10/30/08 - Shaboo has settled in well to our home. She is the queen of the house, my two boys treat her very well with lots of regular snuggles and smooches. Even when my youngest is rough with her she is very patient and allows him to do his thing and then she simply moves on. She is very mellow, for the most part (for a boxer!). She loves to have someone play outside in the yard with a squeaky toy and she "boxes" it around the yard and is super silly. She is FAST! She loves to run. Every time she goes outside she "clears the yard" of all squirrels and bunnies before taking stock of her territory. She is mostly off leash in our yard, but I have started running with her. She has been able to run for a whole hour! We went to the cranberry bogs yesterday where she can just run and she did! She fell in the pond out there once and came out all frisky and silly. Her cold coat didn't slow her down though...wish I was that fast! Shabby went to meet her new dr. down here last week. Dr. J thought all looked good, she thinks she is possibly younger than 2 years old and that she has definitely had pups before because of her well used nipples :) We discovered hook worm in her stool so she has been treated for that. I've also put about 6 or 8 lbs on her and she weighs in at 50lbs and gave us another negative heartworm test. Thank goodness. Although she does have some accidents in the house and she is extremely aggressive toward other dogs when they are on leashes we are feeling very lucky to have Shabs. She fits right into our family and continues to bring us smiles everyday. Obedience classes start next week so we will see how she does with those other dogs. Thank you for everything, Second Chance! 9/28/08 - Jaden has been adopted! 8/18/08 - We picked up this beauty last night and have started calling her Jaden. She is a reverse brindle with white markings, stunning features. If not for her silly ears, Jaden has a show quality physique. She is remarkably calm for a young boxer and listens well to commands. We watched some of the Olympics last night and she quietly went into the crate to lay down. No accidents to speak of. Jaden is loving our back yard and has spent all morning running around. Introductions with our dogs went very well and they are already starting to interact a bit. She is very friendly, shows no aggression with dogs, people, food, or territory. Like most boxers, she is always looking for affection and even rolls on the back for a belly rub. Jaden must have been surrendered for a foreclosure-type of situation because I cannot imagine why anyone would give this girl up. |
