JACKSON
UPDATE 7/30/08 - Jackson is doing wonderfully well. When he came to us, we would tell him that his
"riblets" were showing. This is no longer an issue. He is a big beautiful, happy, bouncy, boy. He has a
few chewing issue, but now he mostly knows which are chew toys and which are mommy's duvet
covers. What a BEDHOG!!!!  He not only commandeers a generous half of the bed, but he has to be
physically laying on one or more body parts. I think he just wants to be sure mommy and daddy will still
be there when he wakes up in the morning. He gets along so well with all his brothers, even his feline
brother, whom Jackson really, really, really, likes and can't quite understand why the fascination isn't
returned. The three of them curled up on the bed(what' left of mommy's duvet) cat, boston terrier, and
boxer make such a sweet picture. I wish I were adept at the whole computer thing so that I could take
some pictures.  It really is like we have always had Jackson, and I couldn't imagine life without him. We
will always be grateful to SCBR for our most beautiful boy.

5/30/08 -
Jackson has been adopted!

5/25/08 - Jackson is a very sweet, very lovable puppy.  He is in that awkward stage where he still
thinks he can crawl in your lap but he's actually on his way to becoming a big horse!  He's house broken
and knows sit.  He isn't responding to the name the shelter gave him, but responds to me when I call to
him to get his attention.  He does not appear to have any separation anxiety but I also have 2 dogs that
he is following around and watching.  I have crated Cosmo every night for bed directly across from
Jackson and also during the day when I go to work.  He doesn't cry, or try and break out, I think
having another dog gives him the confidence he needs to not be afraid.  He obviously doesn't
understand the command yet when I say crate, so I have to go get him and guide him in.  He doesn't
fight me or lung to try and get out once in.  He doesn't bark or drool or do any other signs of SA while
in there.  He did however destroy a stuffed animal that Cosmo must have brought in there and forgot
about.  But as a baby and a stray and coming from a shelter, I wouldn't expect him to know the
difference yet on how to play with things and how to not destroy them.  He was flipping a toy around
this morning and will chase after a ball if thrown.  He didn't understand stairs and stumbled and fell
coming up and down them the first couple of days with me.  He is definitely a people dog, he always
stays with me and where the action is.  He enjoys running around outside and does all his business out
there.  He does jump and is very into licking, two things I do not allow.  So I am constantly reinforcing
that these two things are not acceptable behavior.  He is very gentle and startles a bit easy but that
could be to all the changes he's had in his short life. I think an active home would be ok for him as long
as it wasn't chaotic and hectic and too over stimulating.  He has a very quite demeanor and didn't seem
to be a big barker.  He has an adorable face and is so loving.
