| UPDATE 12/27/08 - "Harley Girl", now "Barley" because we have a "Holly Girl" has fit in perfectly. She and Bugsy are best of friends and our old girl tries to get in on all the play time. Barley is sweet, laid-back and well behaved. We absolutely love her and thank SCBR for making it happen. Thank You for Everything, especially Liz and Maria. /Users/markschnurman/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals/2008/Nov and Dec 2008/100_0048.JPG 10/9/08 - Well, it's been almost a week, and Harley Girl is doing awesome. She is by far the sweetest dog I have ever come upon. Talk about water off a duck's back! She seems to take everything in stride, very little stress - I don't know this girl's story, but she seems to be one tough cookie as far as handling stress, but again she is a total sweetie pie! She gets along great with Woody (Lab) and Gracie (Miniature Schnauzer) - they are becoming great friends. She went to the vet yesterday, so she is heartworm tested (negative) and vaccinated. Will be getting her spayed shortly. I can't say enough about this dog - she walks well on the leash (no pulling) and while she doesn't know any commands per se, she is very obedient (she comes when called and she does know 'leave it' which comes in handy). She wiggles so much she practically folds in half! She is totally in love with Matt (my 16-year old) and she stole my parents' hearts already! She does need to gain about 20 pounds, but she is eating like a horse and we are working on getting her ideally to at least 60 lbs. Will update again soon! Someone will be VERY lucky to have this gentle soul of a dog. 10/4/08 - Harley Girl has arrived via her chartered flight from Ohio. Thank you so much to all her volunteer pilots! She is a very sweet girl, and seems to be settling in although it's only been a few hours. She definitely needs some crate training - she won't go in, but once she's in she's very quiet. She is also enjoying a nap on my bed. She gave my two dogs some nice wiggles when they met her (through the crate) so I'm sure she is good with other dogs. We took a short walk and she didn't do any pulling (not even when she saw a squirrel!). She does need to gain some weight, but otherwise she is a total sweetie pie! She will be getting spayed within the next 2 weeks as well. Will update more in a few days once she's settled in. |
