CARLEY
(FKA: Harley)
4/9/08 - I'm so excited to tell everybody that Carley is being adopted......and staying right at her foster home, which is now her FOREVER home.  She loves her Canine brother and sister and gets along famously with them.  And she adores the skin kids and adults in the family.  My husband says she needs "further evaluation", which translates to sorry she is staying her cause we love her tooooo much.   I don't know if she would have ever been adopted but it would kill me if she was ever returned at 12 or 13 years old.  It was hard enough on this girl when she was surrendered I'm sure.

So she is happy at home already with her new family.  Here is a few pictures it goes Simon, Carley, Metty left to right.  Enjoy!!

Well just a quick update on Harley the wonder girl.  We've started to call her Carley as it just seems so much more fitting for a lady of her age.  Fortunately it rhymes with Harley so she responds instantly
to it.  This girl is such a lady.  She has no vices, get along great with all my boxers, however she is dominate female, so I'm pretty sure she will always take top billing among other dogs in a household especially other females.  She has absolutely no food agression.  We feed her out of the same raised dish as Metty (double bowl)  and they stand right next to each other and suck down their own respective food with absolutely no issues.

We did have to take her to the vet yesterday and she has a raging Urinary Tract Infection which we are now treating her for.  The vet and vet tech immediately fell in love with her and she gave tons of boxer sloppy kisses.  It looks like she has had a couple of litters of puppies but now spayed which may be her mother dominance coming through with other female dogs.  Overall she appears in good health and hopefully in 7 days we'll have this UTI whipped and she be ready for adoption.  I would love to see this wonderful girl be adopted to a individual a bit older who desires a loving companion.  She will just sit in your lap all day, and if you want to walk she is happy to go along.  More updates to follow...

Well I thought I'd share a couple of quick pics with the group. I'll tell you this dog is just AWESOME.  She is not afraid, she is happy, happy, happy although I'm sure she is quite sad missing her original people. She is just full of boxer wiggles and jumps so we've got a little bit of behavior to work on but nothing serious., She checked out the quality of the entrees on the dinner table (just sniffed) and thought they smelled pretty desireable.  She really did enjoy her own doggie kibble as it disappeared instantly.  She has been to the doggie outdoor restroom and done all her doggie business with no trouble.

She traveled extremely well all the way to me in the front seat of a great big truck,  (She had a great view) and then into my vehicle she just layed right down and snoozed. When we got home from her trip she drank a ton of water, but I'm  sure most of that was just nerves.  While we were waiting for the school bus, a gentleman stopped to exclaim what a beautiful boxer girl she was.  When he heard her story I think he was ready to submit an application for her!   He and his wife own three other dogs of which two others are a boxer and a boxer/rottie mix.  So he had a special place in his heart for the breed.

She has had no accidents at all in the house and she trots in the crate with out a problem at all.  And again I stress, we are not crating her, she is just going in to take naps and she is taking a serious siesta in the crate right now and the door is wide open! Additionally, she slept all night long on the Dog bed in our room right next to Simon and was extremely happy.  Simon is a gigilo so he was thrilled!   I would have to say that she got a great start in life and will make young or old a wonderful companion.

Enjoy her photos!  More updates to come on this tremendous canine!

MORE INFO ON HARLEY: Harley was surrendered to a shelter by her family who had her since she was 8 weeks old.  There was a new baby in the house that was highly allergic and asthmatic.  The great shelter contacted us as they knew she had no hope of being adopted there at her age and she deserved to be in a foster home.

2/27/08 - This Harley girl is such a SWEETIE.  She is in my lap right now looking for kisses.  She might be 12, but let me tell you she does not know that she is 12.  She loves Simon, and the jury is still out with Metty.  Metty does not like the fact that she was a little bit dominant with her.  I think she is like, "Hey, I'm 12 and that makes me the queen, even though this is your house"  Metty is coming around though.  She is also such a dream, cause she goes right into the crate to sleep when it is not even necessary.  The door is wide open and she can come and go as she pleases.

I'll have more to update later, but someone would be out of their mind to drop this girl in a shelter.
