**NOTE: Due to my hearing impairment, I will need a home with a fence, another dog and someone that
is home more often (ex: at home parent, work at home, work opposite shifts, retired, etc)**
4/18/08 - Thanks to all the volunteers at SCBR baby Gracie is going to be with her forever home. I
will miss her as she as been an amazing addition to my life. But as we all know, we prepare them and
set them free in God's hands, like our children. I know her family will be great!!! She has a 4 pawed
sister and two human brothers to play with. Good for you Gracie!!! Thanks to all of you for helping
her and getting her to me. Thanks to her forever home for giving her a second chance.
4/16/08 - Hi All, Gracie here!! I have been with my foster family in Ct. for just over a week. I am
really growing into an amazing young lady!! I have a routine that really helps me stay on track with my
potty training and my sleeping schedule. My crate is still not my favorite place to nap, that would be
any empty lap in the house, but I am getting better at understanding that I will be in here for a short time
then it's back to fun. I love to have fun and run. I get along with my big boxer brother and my sister
sheltie, even though she tells me to get out of her way all the time. She is no fun!!! I can really
understand what my foster mom is saying and I look for my treat everytime I go pee outside. She claps
her hands a lot and then gives me something so yummy. I guess when she claps her hands I have done
something good. Well I am here waiting for my forever family. I love everyone and everything. Do
you have a space for me? I promise I will be your lifelong friend!! My foster mom says it won't be
long now so I have really been dreaming about what my forever home will be like. I bet it will be the
best!!!! xxxxx Gracie
4/12/08 - Gracie continues to grow healthy and happy everyday. She is such a great puppy. We have
been working on signing with her and she really understands so much. If you are thinking about giving
this beautiful baby a place in your home and in your heart, I am sure you might be worried that she is
deaf. Know that her being deaf is a challenge only for her forever home and not for her. She know no
other way, so for that she is completely happy and delightful. I talk to her all the time and she really
responds well to all my expressions!!! She gets along great with my little Sheltie, but my sheltie puts her
in her place. My big boxer boy is way too rough with her. Well all that being said she is awesome.
This is a great time to bring a puppy into your life with all the spring weather on the way, it helps a lot
with housetraining. Gracie will add so much to your life. Do you have a home for her? She deserves,
as all these beautiful boxers do, a loving forever home.
4/10/08 -Just to update you all on Gracie. I had said in my first update that she had one blue eye and
one brown, she has one very blue eye and one darker blue eye. Where should I begin!!! As you know
she is deaf so we have been signing and she knows eat and sit!!!!! OMG!! So alert, playful, smart,
loving, and did I mention beautiful. We are working on a playful biting issue that leads to very intense
nipping. We are getting there. Her forever home needs to know to put a stop to the biting asap.
Never let her bite your hands to play. When she bits I continue to give her toys and I get close to her
neck and growl so she can feel the vibration. I know that sounds silly but it seems to slow her down a
bit. I think with any new puppy a routine is very important to make them feel safe and they will learn
quicker. Gracie does not really like her crate, of course, she is still a baby. When I go to work the
crate is a must but I come home every 2 hours to take her out, I am lucky that way. I usually find her
asleep. She sleeps next to my bed at night thru the night if I give her the last meal later in the evening.
She is a great eater and I feed her 3x a day for now. Twice a day will work in a bit then you can feed
her to work with your schedule. She is great on her leash, loves my other 2 dogs, son, husband and
anyone that comes across her path. Potty training coming along but I keep her with me at all times
when we are in the house. I put a small bell on her so just in case she get free, you cannot call for her
but I will hear her. So Gracie would be perfect for someone who has the time and would be willing to
work with her. Puppies are fantastic, but lots of dedication. Do you have a home for her? Please think
about how she would be able to work into your life. Think about your desicion, think about Gracie, and
give her the home she deserves. A second chance.
4-7-08 - So 6 week old Gracie made her way to us in Connecticut and I could not be more happy to
have someone so special. She is a love. She is beautiful snowy white, with one blue eye and one
brown. Not sure if that will change but none the less she is really special. She is deaf which will lead to
many challenges for her and her forever home. We have learned some sign language from some of the
SCBR volunteers and Gracie responds very well already. She is a wondeful eater, adjusting to her
crate, her leash and all this big world has in store for her. She loves to cuddle and play. Her forever
home needs to know, that with time, training, and lots of love, Gracie will be without question the most
amazing investment they could ever make. She deserves a second chance! However, before you
make that very important decision. be sure you are honest with yourself and can give this little girl the
time she deserves, please.
