| UPDATE 9/28/08 - Eveie’s transition into our home has been very easy on everyone. It didn’t take long for her to find her place in our family. Our dog Bruno, (17 month old male boxer) has found his best friend. They get along perfectly. They love to play together. They spend hours in the backyard running around. Eveie is a very loving dog. When she is not playing with Bruno, you can find her snuggled up to one of us. We had her crated for the first few nights but she is now sleeping in our boy’s room. Eveie listens well, and is quick to learn the rules of the house. The first couple of days she didn’t eat much, and hesitated when we offered her a treat from our hand. She now eats the food in her bowl as fast as Bruno and loves it when she gets a treat. She is really feeling comfortable in her new surroundings. Eveie is a wonderful addition to our home! 9/18/08 - Eveie has been adopted! 9/6/08 - Evie hasn't jumped on any furniture during her stay here, but I was sitting in a chair last night and she jumped up on my lap to snuggle. OMG - how cute is that?! My other 2 dogs looked at her like, "now why didn't we think of that?" and they started whining. Evie is very mellow - right now she's sitting beside my chair as I work on the computer. She's a good watchdog - barking in unison with the other dogs to scare the &*$#@ out of anyone walking past the house and thinking of knocking on the door. Today makes 3 weeks that she's been with us and a bath is on our to do list with her. I cannot sign her praises enough. Even my husband - who tries not to get attached to our fosters - has lost the battle with her. She is a love and definitely a keeper! 9/4 Evie has settled in and her personality is shining through. She is playful - chasing balls and carrying toys around the house (she just walked by me with a hat in her mouth that one of the girls must have left out) and silly - my kids were playing with bubbles and she was jumping to pop them as the other dogs watched her. She loves our walks and is wonderful on the leash. She's curious about other dogs and the rabbits or squirrels we see, but doesn't move toward them. Her appetite is coming back and she is a good eater. Evie is like the perfect house guest - she doesn't bark or whine, sleeps peacefully in her crate, eats without any aggression, has great name recognition and comes when called along with good understanding of basic commands. 8/30/08 - So sorry, I haven't done justice to this sweet girl. Started new full time job and kids went back to school. Let me tell you about Eveie's demeanor - wonderfully sweet. She has not exhibited any aggressions toward food or other dogs. She is not really eating much - she doesn't like the kibble that we serve here - but she is eating a little and drinking water. She could stand to lose a few pounds though, so I'm not really worried. We take our daily walks and she is great on the leash. She doesn't cry or indicate that she has to go out so you need to watch her. She has had a couple of accidents in the house. She wags her tail so fast that it is almost like a vibration, her WHOLE BUTT vibrates. She goes into her crate easily and doesn't make a peep through the night. Wow, what a great dog - she is one of the easiest dogs that I have ever fostered. She is very affectionate and loves to be around people - especially kids. She could easily fit into a home as a single dog or as a family adding another dog. Other than the accidents that she has had, this dog is PERFECT! She is now in the routine of the house and wants to find her new family. Are you her forever home? 8/23/08 - Evie has arrived! She was very nervous but seemed almost reassured when my children greeted her. She has a sweet spot for kids - which is very obvious in her demeanor. Over the last few hours, she has settled in a little bit more by wagging her tail and giving face smooches. We went for a nice long walk - she does very well on a leash - guided by my 10 year old daughter. She hasn't been tempted to eat though and is now asleep in her crate and snoring to beat the band! Her left eye is very red with a discharge that hopefully will clear in the next day or two. Pictures will follow tomorrow and I will update as I learn more. Thank you Ralph, Laurie & Kenny and Susan for your efforts in getting Evie here. It all would fall apart without your help. |
