| DIESEL - English Bulldog |
|
| 6/23/08 - We have decided once Diesel gets healthy and finishes with his surgerys that he is going to need a quiet home. Diesel would like a home with no other pets, and no young children. He stresses out easily. Diesel bonds to his people and will be a great pet for the right family. He loves nothing more than a tile floor to lay on. If you have a quiet home then this boy might be the one for you. 6/19/08 - Just picked up big D from the vets. He needs to wear a collar for 2 weeks so he can't get at his eyes. He had both eyes done. He had to have 5 teeth removed as they were either rotten or grown into his gums and infected---NO MORE BAD BREATE!!!. He is scheduled for his leg surgery next Wednesday. 6/18/08 - Took Diesel in for his surgery this morning. He met another english bulldog, it was a puppy, it was so cute. Diesel did not display his usual behavior with any dog in the waiting room today. I think he was scared, he jumped up on the bench and sat right in my lap. I'll give you more update once I pick him up this afternoon or tomorrow. 6/17/08 - Diesel is doing well in our home. (no kids/no other animals) He is very much a momma's boy. He follows me around like velcro and wants to be everywhere that I am. If I go run errands, he wants to come in the car. He loves my husband but prefers me, LOL---good boy!!! He does not like being around other animals whether it be at my house or someone elses, even taking walks he doesn't like other dogs, he will bulldog them. He does not have seperation anxiety but he does have anxiety around a lot of people. He gets all scared and flustered. I brought him to my sisters house with two kids 6 and 15 and he didn't know what to do with himself, he wasn't acting normal, he was scared. We took him home. We tried again and went to the inlaws house with other nieces and nephews and the became all nervous and would charge the kids and knock them over, he is VERY STRONG. He tries to bite the ankles but his teeth won't let him, but it was enough to scare the kids. If anyone tried to come near me, including my husband, he will go after them. He is a pretty mellow dog. He likes to be somewhere where it is quiet. If there is a quick noise or kids running around he goes crazy so that is why I say no kids or other animals. He just as soon sleep on the tile floor all day. He does play with his squeeky ball at night, he loves his ball. He'll play for a 1/2 hour then he is out for the night. Over all he is mellow and doesn't like commotion. 6/11/08 - We've been trying to take some close up pictures of him but he will not let us take any shots, he charges after the camera, he hates it. They come out all blurry. We got him a wadding pool yesterday, he absolutely loves it. He goes in and out of it. He has this ball he loved and he will keep trying to dunk it underwater and it popps up and he just keeps doing it. I can tell you one thing, he HATES thunderstorms. We were in a deep sleep last night with the air conditioner running. All of a sudden he comes flying from the foot of the bed and smashes into the headboard and disappears. By the time we realized what happened he was no where to be found. He jumped off the bed and flew down the stairs. He was hiding in the living room. He is fast when he wants to be, LOL. We had to stay up with him and comfort him until the storm was over. He goes for his eye surgery next Wednesday (one week from today) and for a teeth cleaning also. His front tooth on his bottom jaw is just dangling. I'm to chicken to take it out. Well just thought I give you a little update on the BIG D!! He is definately a sweetheart!! 5/20/08 - Diesel came into rescue on May 10, 2008. He was abused and neglected. Shuffled from owner to owner. He is in need of medical attention that we are currently working on. He will need eye surgery, leg surgery (dislocated back knee) and a good teeth cleaning. He is currently on medicine for double ear infections and an infected cyst between his front toes. He was very scared when he arrived. He went and sat in corners of the room and would not make eye contact. He was afraid of men. At the time we got him, we had Moxie. Moxie sniffed him out and he snapped at Moxie so we kept them separated. He is getting better with people day by day. Every day is a new breakthrough. He is greeting people when they visit. He is now my husband's buddy. He still has a hard time with eye contact but he is getting better. He is afraid of loud noises (vaccum, lawn mower, loud cheering, etc), it scares him and he barks and runs around confused. He loves being rubbed on his belly. He will now roll over for belly rubs. He is a very good listener. He sits, comes, gives his paw. He has never had an accident in the house. He slept in his crate the first few night, now he has run of the house. He slept with us for the last two nights but he takes up all the bed and snores like CRAZY!!!. We are setting up a twin bed near out bed tonight, LOL. He is schedule for a check up on Tuesday 5/27/08 to see if his infections are cleared up then we will schedule his eye surgery/teeth cleaning. At that time they will be taking a leg X-ray and will see when to schedule the left surgery. He will be in foster for a little while till he is all fixed up. I will keep you updated as time goes. 5/20/08 - Diesel was an owner surrender to rescue. His owner had gotten him from someone else and then decided he could not take care of him. Diesel had some medical issues that he could not afford to address. Diesel has seen our doctor and will be having surgery to fix his inverted eye lids. He will also have his teeth cleaned and his leg x rayed. We will wait to see the results of those. |
