DIESEL
NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such as
retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc.

UPDATE 5/5/08 - Diesel is still doing great.
We are waiting for his "school" to start on may 19th.
He is doing really well learning to come when we call him and he will usually stop doing something if we
tell him to. He is lucky because there is always someone around, so he's alittle spoiled in that regard.
He has made many friends (dogs and human!) in town and we meet some of them down at the park
3-6 times every week.
I was alittle nervous about introducing him to young children, but i shouldn't have been because he just
kisses everyone, and seems to understand he needs to be more gentle with kids.
He met my cousin who is a todler, and had a blast playing. they were just two little boys playing tag and
hide and go seek. it was so cute!
Diesel absolutely loves car rides. He sticks his head out the window and you can tell he's in heaven.
He weighs almost 30 pounds now, i can't believe it!
In his head he will always be a lap dog, no matter how big he gets. We'll have to get a bigger bed here
pretty soon too.
He is up to date on all his shots and vacs. and the next thing will be his neuter at six months old. He got
rid of his worms and is a healthy pup now.
it is so nice to read his brothers updates and see how they're doing! it sounds like everyone is happy
and healthy.
will update more when school starts!
take care all!!

3/2/08 - Diesel has been adopted!

1/23/08 - Ok...Diesel is doing great on house training. He has not had one accident in about a week.
He whines and gives a little soft bark when he has to go out. He will come and find us to let us know he
has to go out. So that is great....however....he has picked up a naughty behavior...he now eats the cats
food and tries to sneak food off our table. This just started a couple days ago, and I think it may have
something to do with my interaction  the last couple days. My children have been sick, and I have not
been paying much attention to him, also I have not been able to take him for his regular 45-60 minute
walk, and I think he is getting bored. I was able to finally take him tonight....and he came home and
crashed on is bed, and has been great ever since.
If you want a couch potato, this is not the dog for you!!! He is very snuggly and lovey, but he really
needs attention from his people. He also would benefit from being with other dogs. He gets along with
EVERY dog he meets!! Very friendly very playful. My 8 year old boxer really doesn't like his
energy...so he only gets playtime when my other foster dogs come to visit. He loves playing with them
for hours on end!!! Of course the walks are very important. He loves walking, and does pull still, but
we are working on that. A harness may be the way to go for him, but I haven't gotten around to getting
one yet, or a gentle leader.   He is a handful, and is great with my young kids, but he is a little big, so he
does tend to knock over my 3 year old quite often..he thinks its playing, but it's just knocking! So I
would say he definitely has the personality for kids, but just needs some work on the boundaries...he
has none. If he wants something he will step right on the kids to get it...so that is a little frustrating...but
he is just a big needy love bug!! He loves to play chase, fetch and tug of war.
He has absolutely no aggression..to food, toys, treats, nothing....you can pull stuff right out of his
mouth...
My 3 year old is directly at his height, so when he is being a bug, she "bonks" him on the head a little
and he just licks her in the face and wags that little nub. It's quite funny. He doesn't get that he is being
scolded by a 3 year old, he just thinks she's being funny.  Goofy dog...
He has learned "sit" and is slowly learning "stay" . he is really smart, and a fast learner...boy, if I had
more time to devote to just him, he would be perfect right about now!~!~

1/17/08 - Diesel has been here almost 2 weeks. He is just getting over a bad case of Kennel cough.
He is feeling much better now. He is a big baby! He is a beautiful boy, that is such a love bug. He
definitely needs someone who does not mind him hogging the bed! He insists on sleeping with us. And
is happiest as close to us as possible. He follows us around everywhere. He really loves his people!!
He gets along great with our 9 y/o boxer, and also our other foster and visiting dogs, big and small. He
loves to play with the puppies we have. He is very good with our kids, although does knock them over
from time to time, due to his size. He is not crazy, but still a puppy, so he loves to bounce around. He
will jump occasionally, very gently, but we are working on that. He is fine with our cats, if they do not
run. But when they run, he does chase them. When they turn on him, he stops dead in his tracks. He is
very playful with them, and shows no sign of wanting to hurt them, just play with them. When he is
laying on our bed, our cats all come up, and they all happily share the bed together. It's like a night time
unspoken truce. ;)
He loves to go for walks. He does very well on a leash, pulls a little, but not that he can't be handled.
He does great in the car. He was not potty trained when we got him, but is doing great. He has had a
few accidents in the past couple days, but mostly holds it. I think another week or two, and he will be
fine. During the day, we take him out every couple hours, but at night, he holds it, so that is good.
We keep him in a crate when we leave, not due to separation anxiety, but due to the house training
issue. He got out of the first crate a couple times when we were gone, and we came home to him
sleeping peacefully on the couch. So he is not destructive at all. But we got a better crate, and he tries
desperately to get out, but has not been able to.
Hmmmmm.. what else....he is fine with rabbits and other small animals, but again, would chase if they
ran.
He is a great dog, very good natured. He lives here with our 3 y/o and 8 y/o and many neighbor kids.
He does fine with everyone and everything he meets.  Whoever has him, though, needs to be prepared
for a big baby.(he must weigh about 75 lbs.) he does not realize how big he is, and will need so manner
training. Not because he is naughty, but he just has no "personal space boundaries" and will step on you
, your kids, pretty much anything in his way.
He stays with you outside, as long as there are no  distractions walking by. We have him leashed 80%
of the time, but in the evening , will take him out, and let him run around our yard and play with our dog.
he does great, and stays right in the yard with us.
Just an all around good, young, dog!

1/6/08 - Diesel was turned into a local shelter because the family said they did not have enough time for
him. More updates coming.
