UPDATE 12/28/08 - Hello everyone. Diamond here. I just wanted to let everyone know how I am
adjusting to life with my new mom and dad. My forever home is great, Mom and Dad buy me a ton of toys
and Mom and I go for a run almost everyday. I have made some great friends. Casey and Darcy, who are
both Labs, love to run with me at the park near my house. Mommy says I am a chew monster. I only chew
toys, but I really go through Nylabones. I finished my obedience classes and I was the only dog to pass the
last test. The trainer lined an aisle with treats and I had to avoid them, while running to my Dad. I ignored all
the treats and ran straight to my Dad, almost knocking him over. I also learned how to shake and roll over,
and I love to shake. Every time I go out, people tell my Mom and Dad how pretty I am. I got some great
toys for Christmas, including a Wubba that I cannot stop playing with. Well, I am going to get back to
playing now. Happy Holidays to all, and a special Thank you to Beth, my foster mom and everyone at
SCBR for taking such good care of me and introducing me to my Mom and Dad.
UPDATE 10/16/08 - Diamond has been doing very well in the month since she joined our family. She is
very affectionate and loving with us and very friendly with the other dogs we see in the neighborhood on our
daily walks. She immediately bonded to us and wanted to be around us all the time. She was my shadow for
the first few days, even trying to come into the bathroom with me. But she has relaxed since then and can be
alone. During the first couple weeks, we has a couple crate escapes and tried a different kind of crate, but
she broke out of that too, so we are working with a metal crate now with some clamps at the weak points to
help her stay in there. She sleeps in her crate at night, but usually she jumps in our bed and nuzzles herself
between us first to see if she can sleep in the big bed. Diamond has been on a few playdates with other
dogs, her cousin Holly (a 10 month old Golden) and a friend’s dog Frizzy (a terrier mix) and has done well
with both. Holly seems to wear her out after an hour or so, but they take a nap together and are back at it in
minutes. She plays well with dogs at the park and loves to chase squirrels on walks. She has done really well
with a few toddlers and young kids and I have decided she may come to camp with me next summer. We
are so happy to have Diamond with us and we count ourselves lucky to have our little princess.
9/20/08 - Diamond has been adopted!
8/11/08 - Diamond has been doing very well and is patiently waiting for her forever home. She now has a
foster brother who she is great with. She runs and plays with him and tries to put him in his place when he
gets too pushy. I have found out she is very much a momma's girl. She follows me around and makes sure
she can see me at all times when outside. She still loves her Nylabones, tennis balls and rope toy. She is
working very hard on drop it but sometimes just can't let the ball go. She has spent more time with my
nephew in the past few weeks and is getting better every time.
7/17/08 - Diamond has been doing great. She has been to the dog park several times and is a natural. She
loves to entice the other dogs into a good game of chase. She has 3 speeds. Moderate, to see how fast the
other dogs are. Fast, because it is fun. Super fast, just when the other dogs think they can catch her she
puts it in turbo. She greets all the other dogs happily and if they get fiesty she turns around and finds
someone else to play with. She is learning to walk better on a leash. She is good for the most part until she
sees a squirrel. We are working on that together. She has learned sit and stay and is currently working on
down. She loves all people. She is a little playful with the young ones but may do okay with more training.
She has received numerous compliments on how pretty she is and how calm she is for such a young dog. I
always direct people to the website so if you think Diamond is the dog for you, get your applications in soon.
7/3/08 - Diamond here to let you know I am still waiting for my forever home. I have been told that I am
very sweet and such a cutie pie. I love to run in the yard and play fetch but most of all I love people. I am
friends with a 3 1/2 year old (human) and I am great with him in the house but when he starts running and
playing I just can't help but join the fun. I also met some older people, I think they are called grandparents.
I really like to lay down at Poppy's feet. I know sometimes I have to be in a crate when I am home alone
and I do make a fuss for a little while but I settle down quickly. I am totally house trained. I had one
accident when I just got here but I was still getting used to the routine. Well that's it for now! If you are
looking for a sweet, lovable, playful, loyal companion, pick me!!!
6/26/08 - Diamond was spayed yesterday and is recovering nicely. She spent yesterday napping and
perked right up today. She already wants to run and play, and has regained her appetite. As previously
mentioned Diamond is an escape artist. She found her way out of the VariKennel Crate and got into some
mischief. Well I guess she just didn't like to feel that contained. I changed her to a wire crate and she is an
angel. I have also learned that if you are outside the yard and she is in it she will jump a 4 foot fence to be
with you. She is perfectly content to stay in the yard if you are in it. Diamond loves everyone she meet, from
young children to seniors. She can be shy at first but warms up after 10 seconds. She is working on leash
manners. She doesn't mean to pull but there are so many birds and squirrels around she just can't resist. She
has met several dogs and loved them all. We will try the dog park once her stitches are out.
6/16/08 - Diamond continues to be such a sweet dog. She is very calm and well behaved when I am home.
She loves to play fetch and chase birds and squirrels in the yard. I have found that she does not like to be
home alone. She figured out how to escape from her crate and got in to some mischief. She accompanied
me to a cookout yesterday and everyone commented on how well behaved she is for such a young dog.
She greeted everyone with a big sniff and tail wag. She did play a little rough with a 3 year old so a home
with small children may not be appropriate for her. She is a great watchdog. She will growl and bark when
she hears people outside the house. These are a few things Diamond would like from her forever home.
Unconditional love, toys, someone home more often or maybe a fur sibling to keep her busy and lots of
exercise. In turn she will return your love, protect your house and keep your yard free of small animals. She
will be spayed on 06/23/08 and ready to go to her forever home a few days later.
6/10/08 - Diamond went to the vet today and weighs in at a whopping 53 pounds. She can definitely stand
to gain a few more as she is very skinny. She has an appointment to be spayed on 06/23/08. She is
Heartworm/Lyme negative. She was very good to the other dogs and people in the waiting room. She was
also very gentle to my 3 1/2 year old nephew. She is doing well with crate training. She is very calm for a
dog of her age. If you want to play she will play, if not she will lay around with you. I am not sure if this is
due to heat or just her personality. I'll update once the heat breaks. She loves to play fetch and chew on
Nylabones. We are working on commands like sit and stay.
6/7/08 - Diamond has arrived and she is a beautiful mix. She is very sweet. She is commplaining right now
about being in her crate but it seems to be new to her. I will send pictures shortly as she just rolled herself in
mud.
6/7/08 - Diamond has arrived and is a beautiful mix of boxer and who knows what. Her paperwork from
the shelter gives her age at 8-10 months. I think she should be given the birthday of 07/07/07. She is a very
pretty light tan and white. She rode very well in the car circling a few times to find a comfortable spot and
slept the rest of the ride. She has done all her business outside so far. She is taking very well to the crate.
She will whine and bark for a few minutes before settling in. She has a cute high bark and a very low bark.
I wasn't expecting the low bark from such a petite little girl. She does go in and out on her own to take
naps. She likes playing with the hose. She will jump at the stream to get a sip of water. She also likes to
play fetch. She doesn't always give the ball back but she will bring it to you. She doesn't know any
commands at this time but she is very well behaved for such a young dog. She is very gentle and will give
you a few quick kisses if you will let her.
6/5/08 - I picked up the sweet little girl from the shelter. She is not a full Boxer, she is a boxer mix. The
animal control officer actually met the momma boxer when she tracked down Diamond's owner. She was
left in the yard alone and Diamond's Dad is unknown. She is a beautiful and sweet girl. She's the first dog
i've had here that can almost keep up with Lucius. Very fast. They just had a good run in the yard and now
she's in the crate... passed out. I don't know how she is with cats, they're never around when you need
them, but she wants to play with my parrot. She's a very easy dog to have around. A total sweetie.
