| UPDATE 1/26/09 - Deegan is still doing great We took him to the vet he is updated on all his shots, We were concerned about him favoring his left rear let The vet said that he has a little arthritus SO he is on Novox glucosamine and chondroitin When I sit on the couch there he is with his head in my lap He sleeps in bed with my grandson We are so glad to have him as a member of our family. Good luck with placing your other dogs UPDATE 12/14/08 - What a great dog He got along great with Natasha We love this big guy He is doing very well 11/08 - Deegan has been adopted! 10/30/08 - Deegan has been with us for a little over 2 weeks and he has been an absolute pleasure to foster. After 5 days of good behavior, he was allowed upstairs to sleep in the bedrooms (he's been claimed by my oldest daughter and he sleeps with her each night). He sleeps at the bottom of the bed and doesn't move! What a great dog....he has a very sweet disposition, hasn't had any accidents in the house, let's you know when he needs a trip outside, eats well, and isn't the least bit destructive. I was told by his owners that he doesn't play with toys, but guess what...he loves to play tug of war and fetch. The only negative behavior, which would depend on the house he goes to, is that he likes to climb on the couch with his people. I recently had a boxer play date (my 3 plus Deegan) and a friend and his two boxers and Deegan was like Switzerland - accepted by all and playful. He knows all his commands and responds to them. Deegan is flourishing and wants to make his people happy - Deegan will make you happy, he is a gem! 10/15/08 - Deegan hasn't eaten much over the past few days, but looks like his appetite is coming back. He is a nice mellow boy, sleeping right beside my chair. He cries to let you know when he needs to go out and I'm happy to say that he hasn't had any accidents in the house. I'll keep you informed as we learn more about this boy. 10/13/08 - Deegan was surrendered when the family had a second child and he no longer received the attention he deserved. He spent much of his time outside in a 10x10 pen and crated inside. Family reported that he had a couple of accidents in the house after the second child arrived. He exited his former owner's vehicle with a limp and I was informed that he had dug out of his pen and may have been struck by a car. Was advised that he was seen by a vet and diagnosed with a strained ACL although no medical records in his file show of this vet visit. He appears to only favor it when just getting up to apply pressure to his rear leg, but will keep an eye on it. Here is what I can share with you about this lovely gentleman. I took him for a walk on his first night and he was wonderful on the leash - no pulling, and not fearful of strangers passing. He spent his first night crated beside my dogs and they all seem of the same temperment. Including Deegan I have 3 males and 1 female dog in the house and he is getting along with all of them. He has not shown any animal or food aggression. As for children, he loves my girls and wags his stub whenever one comes into the room. He whines for a few minutes in his crate and then settles in for the night. |
