| 5/1/08 - I'm very sad to report that Daisy had to be sent to the Rainbow Bridge today. It was hard for me to do as I had fostered her for over 6 weeks and I was trying to make her part of my home so we could avoid this decision. Unfortunately, as Daisy settled into my home she became very unpredictable and aggressive with my boxer girl Sandi, my cat and the other foster dog. A few times she also showed me issues too. We found out a few weeks after Daisy came into rescue that she had really bad people aggression and always had to be kept away from visitors in her last home. I saw this was true even outside the house and also towards children & for no apparent reasons or trigger situations. Daisy just was not placeable and even I could not keep her in my home without worrying about my other animals and myself. I also noticed even Daisy never seemed happy or content, even at times she should have felt that. I could see anger in her eyes and it never softened. I know now Daisy can be happy and maybe her little tail nub will wag and she will smile and play. I miss you Daisy Mae and I'm so sorry I couldn't give you the happiness you so deserved. 3/25/08 - Daisy is doing very well & we had a breakthrough! She is doing great with my cat, JJ, now and does not mind him at all! I was shocked as her initial meeting did not go well, maybe she just had a bad moment! LOL She is doing well with my boxer Sandi, with only a few grumbly moments with them both (over attention of course--hard to have 2 Queens in the home!-LOL). Daisy is very cuddly and loves to curl up on the couch with me and on bed at night. She is very sweet and seems to enjoy just hanging out. If I say the word "Ride", boy does she perk right up! Ready to go anytime for one of those! :) Daisy would make a great companion for a more quiet type of a home. She will cuddle with you when you watch TV or read a book. Do you have a spot for Miss Daisy? 3/21/08 - Daisy has been here almost a week now and is starting to settle in. I have found she loves to go for car rides and is a great driving partner! She went to the vet yesterday and did great meeting the doctor and vet techs. She had her shots updated and tested negative for heartworm, but is a light positive for lyme disease. She just has an antibiotic to take twice a day to help clear that up. Everyone at the vet office said what a sweetie she is! So far Daisy has been doing well with the other boxers in my house and did great with Stevan's two when she was there. I think as long as Daisy can be the Queen and the other dogs do not try to be dominant with her, she will be fine. I did finally get her to meet my cat yesterday and that did not go well, I'll see how things go with more meetings. Daisy's owner said she was best friends with the teenager in the house, but was nervous around other kids. I think she would be happiest in a home without little kids. Daisy likes to put her paws on your lap and get hugs, she will even sneak in a kiss or two if you are lucky! She is a very nice girl and ready for her new home. 3/18/08 - Daisy arrived on Saturday thanks to all her transport volunteers. A big thank you to Stevan and his family for watching her for a couple days until we could get Daisy to her foster hom. Daisy was originally adopted from us about 5 years ago. When the other dog in the house and Daisy were not getting along, Daisy was given to a family member. A very sad owner had to give up Daisy as she went through a lot of personal changes recently and had to move where she was not able to have a dog. |
