CRUSH
(boxer/mastiff? mix)
NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such as
retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc.

UPDATE 3/22/09 - Six month update -
Crush is just part of the family, we could imagine life without him now. Everything is going well, he has
himself a girlfriend from two houses down (don't worry, she's spade and he's neutered :)).  She's a tiny
boxer, 2 years and 40 lbs about and she rules him everytime they play even though he outweighs her by
at least 25 lbs.  It cracks me up because he'll get tired and come try to sit in my lap while they are still
playing...
Healthwise he's great.  He's such a healthy, happy, very hyper boy!

UPDATE 1/8/09 - Our three month update -
Crush is such a good boy!  Since the last time we wrote, he graduated puppy class (with honors, of
course), he has made it through neutering and being boarded with our Vet for a week. (We couldn't
take him to Minnesota for the holidays, it's too cold for the puppies to fly in the cargo bay).  Being a
good mom, I called to check on him a couple of time and the vet techs were singing he prasies.  He's
such a healthy, happy, very hyper boy!
Favorite game - hide and seek and chase with Tommy, my 20 month old.
We are loving every minute.

UPDATE 11/26/08 - We are still having tons of fun.  Crush is such a good boy!  He loves to play
fetch, really with anything, but his favorite isn't any of his toys (of course), it's a crushed water bottle he
got a hold of.  He loves chasing it around the yard, I think because it flies like a frisbee when we throw
it.  He is learning how to loose leash walk and doing pretty well.  When I bring the stroller he walks so
nicely beside the baby and me.
This big boy has gained almost 20 lbs since we got him in September.  He is a whopping 54 lbs now -
at 6 months - wow!  The vet thinks he'll be between 80 - 100 pounds.  The heart murmur is still hanging
around, but the vet says it's benign.
Our last day of the puppy training class is today and we are excited for graduation and for Thanksgiving.
Thank you so much for helping us find Crush!

UPDATE 10/19/08 - Crush is doing wonderfully.  He is a great match for our family.  We had some
interesting adventures the first week with worms and some anxiety (of course, moving to a new home
away from his brother and sister), but after a couple of weeks he settled in nicely.
We have continued the crate training, which is just fabulous, and started a puppy training class.  In the
last 4 weeks, Crush has gotten all the rest of his shots, gone from 26 lbs to 35 lbs, and learned how to
sit, lie down and stay (sometimes) on command.  He eats like a champ and gets along wonderfully with
our 18 month old son.
We were worried at first because Crush was diagnosed with a heart murmur, but at the most recent
visit, the vet said it is now barely noticeable.  What a relief!
I work from home, so Crush is with me all day and is definitely becoming quite the mama's boy, but he
is very friendly to other people and now that he is up to date with all the shots we will work on
socializing him with other dogs. He loves to play fetch and chase the birds and squirrels in our yard.
We are so happy to have this little (big...) guy be part of our family!

9/20/08 - Crush has been adopted!

7/28/08 - The Finding Nemo Crew arrived earlier today from Ohio. According to their paperwork they
were surrendered to the shelter on 6/26/08 at 4 weeks old. That would make them 8 weeks old now.
They have been vaccinated (puppy vaccines and kennel cough) and dewormed several times already.
The pups are pretty big for their age. Not necessarily very tall but short, squatty, solid little babies! They
look like they have some mastiff in their heritage (both their builds and coloring). Some of the smaller
pups resemble labs. Maybe Dad was a Mastiff/Lab mix? Guess we will never know! What I do know
is they are fat, friendly and CUTE as can be. Pictures will be coming very soon. You better gets those
applications in as they pretty babies won't be around long!
