| UPDATE 2/2/09 - Chipper is doing very well & has adjusted very well to us. He loves cuddling, people, kids & other dogs. He'd love to love our cat but she's not obliging him. That part is not going so well -- no one's been hurt in the least though -- a lot of barking & bristling. Chipper loves going for walks & just being out of doors. And he can't wait to go for the next ride in the car. There's definitely nothing wrong with his appetite and though we don't do table scraps he'll eat anything that accidentally drops on the floor including a piece raw onions or a raisin or lettuce or carrots! He's smart & catches on quickly though oftentimes he can express his single-mindedness. He's a lot of fun. The kids adore him & he laps up the attention. The most impressive is his "indoor exercise program" when all furniture is the "equipment"! Our grandson noted that he does a great "burn" on the couch. Chipper's health is also great! No problems whatsoever. UPDATE 12/27/08 - Chipper is doing great & is such a delight. He has adjusted wonderfully to us & his environment. He is eating & playing well & just adores the out-of-doors & walking. Chipper's health is great. He does enjoy his eating. Not to worry: he does not get overfed & we don't do table scraps. We find that our food gives him really bad gas! However, when we are mindless he also enjoys finishing the cat's food. We plan to introduce Chipper to our Vet soon. Chipper is getting along famously with anyone who visits us - a real lovey. He was introduced to our daughter's big dogs without incident. They played very well together. We have already had our 1st obedience training lesson & will undergo a few more in January [the training is really more for Dale & I, I think]. Chipper is very smart & catches on pretty quickly. It's us who need to learn his language. Chipper is doing ok with our cat, Foxy. She's a real scardy-cat & prefers to run. Not good: Chipper enjoys the game of chase too much. This has really brought out the worst in Foxy. I apologize for not updating you on the 22nd as instructed. Our son just underwent back surgeries on 12/16 & 12/19. I've been in Boston since the 19th & have more urgent concerns. Hope you understand. Dale is still at home with Chipper & Foxy. 11/22/08 - Chipper has been adopted! 09/01/08 - Well Chipper has been here a week now and we love him. He is great with the kids and loves our dogs. He will be neutered tomorrow and brought up to date on his shots! He is a great dog who was dumped at a shelter because his people were moving and could not take him with them...He won't be around for long so get your application in today!! |
