CHANELLE (NELLY)
11/25/07 - A belated update on Nellie; Nellie is spayed, the tumor is gone and she is livelier than ever!
She loves to race around the yard and chase the squirrels.  She is learning to sit on command, but she is
so enthusiastic, she can’t be bothered. :)   She is fine with the cat. She is affectionate and has
become very fond of David (my son). She is down to 61 pounds but needs to gain back three or five
pounds. Her coat is very soft and silky. She is quite beautiful especially since she’s rid of her mole
(as her former owner called that ugly thing hanging from her cheek).

10/22/07 - Nelly is absolutely the easiest foster I’ve ever had. She runs around the yard with
enthusiasm. Altho she’s not exactly as friendly with Jack as she might be, the relationship is
growing. She’s a chow hound. She’s a kisser, a sweet dog.  Considering all the things I’m
discovering about her she is amazingly healthy and active. The most important things to get done were
the heartworm test—fortunately negative; and updated her shots. I’ve found 5 ticks on her so I
gave her two tubes of Frontline 2 wks apart, and I dose of Heartguard.  She is scheduled to be spayed
on the first, and will have the tumor removed (they put down it was a mole on the form of release—
have you ever heard of a mole about 1 inch in diameter and a neck about half inch long and about ¼
in diameter?).   She was chewing on a hard chew toy and her gums started to bleed—not just a wee
bit but enough to be concerned about. I tried to look at her teeth but she resisted. So she’ll need a
good tooth cleaning too.  I was hoping that I could get all three things done with one anesthesia, but the
vet might think that’s too much. She has lost a little weight and looks great, just a little more to go;
She was 64 lbs.

9/29/07 - Chanelle (Nelly) is a sweety and seems comfortable, although she has to have her kibbles
laced with salmon so far in order to get her to eat.

9/28/07 - She is a little overweight, seems to be healthy, probably 70 or so. She is finally eating after I
put a little canned salmon with her kibbles, otherwise quite happy, affectionate and a little overly
interested in the cat, but I think that can be managed. The two dogs get along reasonably well, although
not playing together yet..  Chanelle needs to be spayed and have a tumor, hanging externally from her
left cheek almost as big as a pingpog ball, removed (probably benign, although how does one know for
sure?).   It is described on the form completed on 9/25/07 as a “moleâ€. She also needs a heart
worm test as well as the other shots.  She will be going to the vet soon to get all these things taken care
of.

9/25/07 - I picked up Chanelle from her owner today and she is a happy camper. Chanelle is about 10
yrs old and is full of energy, but at the same time very mellow lol! She has worn out nipples from
breeding and a mole about the size of a 50 cent piece, I was told it is benign but I am sure when Adele
gets her she will have her checked over good. I will be meeting Ralph tomorrow at 4 p.m. and then he
will keep her till he meets Adele for the hand off on Thursday lol! She will be a happy camper with
Adele I am sure of it. NO MORE CRATE !!!!!

I have her crated for now and gave her some food and water but I will try to get her out and about later
on this afternoon.
