| 5/8/08 - Chance had his first play date with other dogs last night. He went right in, warmed up for a minute and played played played. He got along with all the other dogs in the park. He had a ball chasing the other dogs and jumping over them. Boy was he tired when he got home. 5/7/08 - I introduced Chance to my 2 cats yesterday through a baby gate. He was very interested in them and just stared at them. My older cat does not have much tolerance for dogs so when she hissed and spit at him he went right to his bed and sat watching. I think he was a little afraid. He will however give chase if a cat is in the yard. He has a play date tonight to see how he is with dogs. He is also learning that my house is not equipped with escape doors in the bathroom or the 2nd floor. He no longer whines at the bathroom door or tries to take the baby gate down to come find me upstairs. Get your applications in soon. This handsome fella will not be waiting long for a forever home. 5/6/08 - Chance is starting to let more of his personality come out. At first I didn't think he know what a ball was now he is chasing one around the yard. He is very quick. He also likes stuffed toys and rope toys. He thought my hammock was his toy because it is rope but quickly learned to leave it alone. He has a tendency to jump and we are working on that but I would recommend a home with older children because he can easily knock a smaller child down. He knocked my 3 1/2 year old nephew down while playing, not to be fresh just to smother him with kisses. When in the house he was well behaved with him. He loves to be with his people and would prefer a home where someone is home most often. He barked and whined in the crate the first few times I left him but has been very good after that. He would also like a home that will provide him with a lot of exercise. I take him for a 1 mile walk in the am and 2 miles in the pm and he looks at me like "that's all you got". My yard is now fully fenced in so he is free to run and boy does he. I am trying to set up a play date to see how he is with other dogs. He has met a few on our walks and sniffs them, wags his tail and then barks when they walk away. The cats are the next step. Hopefully tonight. 5/4/08 - Chance has arrived and what a beautiful boy he is! He is very sweet and lovable. I picked him up in CT and he was wonderful in the car. He slept most of the way and looked out the windows for the rest. He ate a good meal last night and slept on his dog bed all night. He met a few adults and loved them. He has the tendency to jump when excited but we will work on that. He met a 3 1/2 year old child but I kept him on the leash just in case he tried to jump. He did smother him with kisses. He really likes to be with his people and whines if you are in another room. He had one accident in the house but that may be because we are still getting used to his signals. We went for a quick walk last night and he was very good on the leash. He noticed 2 other dogs in the park and seemed like he wanted to play with them. If the weather clears up we will try the dog park this week. He knows 1 command so far (sit) and we are working on off. He seems like a quick learner and is food driven so I think he will be a natural in obedience training. We're still getting to know each other so I will send an update and pictures very soon. |
