| UPDATE 9/6/09 - We could not have asked SCBR to find a dog more perfect for our household. Brody fits in with us as though he was always meant to be with us. We have no issues with him. He loves to play, always has a tennis ball with him, and if outside has big stick as well. All the kids in the neighborhood come to play with Brody, and some of their parents do so as well. He listens to what we tell him--is learning what part of the lawn is actually meant to be the bathroom--i really cant come up with a single complaint about him Thanks for rescuing this great guy and saving him for us UPDATE 2/28/09 - All is still well with us and Brody. He is testing us a bit, getting on furniture he isnt supposed to and going into the one room that is off limits to him. I know he knows because the minute we walk in he sulks off, tail between his legs trying to make himself invisable. I think he, like all of us in New Hampshire, is ready for spring. He tries to run around the yard but the snow is such that he keeps falling in holes so its not much fun. Still always with a tennis ball inside, or a stick outside, he always makes us laugh. We are going away for two weeks in April and have found someone to come in and stay with him, I so did not want to kennel him. Life is good, we just need spring UPDATE 1/30/09 - I cannot say enough wonderful things about Brody. He truely is a great fit for our family, although I think he would be a great fit with any family. He is doing well in obedience school. He sits 100 percent on command, is learning down--sits and waits for his food without us saying a word. Seems to have learned that the couches are not for him, the bed needs to be shared (he insists on sleeping right up against me), and that the backyard is a huge playground inspite of all the snow. He has a 4 or 5 foot tree limb that he uncovers after each storm and keeps right outside the door for when he wants to play with it. thanks again for helping facilitate his adoption UPDATE 12/29/08 - I cannot say enough about Brody. He is a complete love, is always leaning against you or trying to be a lap dog. We have had him a month, he has not had one accident in the house, not even to mark it. We had a big family party this past weekend and he was the star of the day, especially with my 3 year old niece who was all over him, and he was wonderful with her. He will start official classes in two weeks as there was nothing offered during the holidays, but he already will sit on command, and sit and stay without us saying anything for his food. I think for once we may do well in dog school :) I took him to the vet ( a new vet for us) and they told me he had a heart murmur, but since the SCBR vet didnt hear it I am going to take him for another opinion. He is acting fine so I really hope its okay. Thank you everyone who had a part in rescuing him and getting us together 11/29/08 - Benito has been adopted! 11/15/08 - Well, they are finally sleeping! Roz picked up beautiful Benito this morning from the shelter and drove him to a play date with his fostermates, Campeon and Dolly. The three met up in a dog park and immediately started flying around – the mud was flying around also. :) He had immediately bonded to Roz and did NOT want her to leave him behind. When she left (to go home, wash all of her clothes and her car, and take a shower) (I did the same!) he settled into our home as if he’d always been here. Some pictures are attached. Benito is a brindle boy, bursting with wiggles, waggles, and kisses – I’ll update with more details in a few days. p.s. he is a REAL lovebug! |
