UPDATE 1/6/09 - Sorry I have not sent a more recent update. Since my last update, Adrian and I
have traveled to South Carolina twice (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I think she wants to be a southern
belle! She enjoyed sun bathing on the deck and the nice weather. My brother brought his 1 year old
daschund - they played non-stop every day. Actually, my brother said Adrian was the first dog Teckel
has played with that actually tired him out! She was a great little traveler and kept me company - very
long drive.
She is simply the most charming little thing. We have bounded deeply and thank you SCBR! We are
very happy together!
UPDATE 9/16/08 - I wanted to let everyone know how great Adrian is doing. We had a bit of a rough
start. She was having accidents, and was very nervous when I left her alone. Whenever I was about to
leave, she would cry and pace. I bought her a crate thinking that would help - Nope! She hates the
crate. So, with just a bit of time and patience, she is doing very well when I'm at work. I do not leave
her alone for more than 4 hours at a time, and actually I can work out of home occasionally, and did a
few days during the week for the first few weeks to make sure she felt comfortable in her new home.
When I do come home, she is very excited and always runs to bring me a toy. Very sweet. We have
been going to the dog park after work. Again, at first, she was very shy. But that changed! She is very
playful and boy can she run fast...and can jump! I have found her standing on my kitchen counter
looking of the window! Although I do not really think this is great, I am careful not to raise my voice;
she is very sensitive and responds best to gentle guidance.
She knows many commands and is very obediant. We will start training soon. Not really that she needs
it, but I think she needs to be more socialized in different siutations. I just wanted to give her some time
to settle in.
We have had to make a trip to the vet. She had colitis - vet said it was stress induced (first week she
was here). She was fine after a few doses of medicine and a special diet of boiled chicked, brown rice
and pumpkin. She has gained 5 pounds - contrary to her paperwork, she is a great eater...well, I guess
she likes my cooking!
She is excellent in the car, sleeps in my bed with me and is simply adorable. She has her quirks, but I
find them funny - like lying on my bath mat while I'm in the shower...Her favorite toy is Daisy's pink
stuffed puppy (Daisy passed away in July).
We are very happy together! She is a joy to have around and has been a tremendous comfort to me
with my Daisy's passing.
7/20/08 - Adrian has been adopted!
7/7/08 - Adrian came into rescue yesterday. She was an owner surrender due to a family move. Her
family was very sad to give her up and loved her dearly. Needless to say she is a little in shock at the
moment and a little nervous. She went into the crate without a problem and slept quiet all night. She met
my little chihuahua and really liked him. She was very nervous with my ex husband but warmed up to
me quickly. Adrian has lived with cats and children and is reported to be great with both. We will
update as we get to know her better.
