UPDATE 12/4/08 - Zoe is the best dog! Re-reading some of the notations from previous owners, I
began to wonder. We have 2 children, now 6 and 3. Zoe can have them laying their heads on her and
tugging at her and she just lays there. She has shown no aggression towards anyone. She LOVES to
have her back scratched and especially her tummy (and the nippies). She's so funny when she expects
you to scratch her tummy. My son has developed a sort of game with this. He sits down alongside her
and says, "Tail wag." and Zoe wags her tail. He touches her tummy and at the same time says "Tail
stop." and she stops her tail, straight out. Zoe sleeps with him every night. When he is away overnight
or for a few nights, poor Zoe paces and doesn't know what she should do. She actually seems a little
depressed. It's cute. Zoe recently had a checkup and the only things the vet said was that since she
had puppies in the past and then was fixed, she is at a higher risk of developing mammary cancer (we
just lost our 16 year old cat to that). Also, Zoe's right knee can pop out of joint at anytime. But, she
doesn't think it will be a problem, because Zoe can move her leg or we massage it, and it goes back
and Zoe doesn't favor the other leg. The biggest problem is MAJOR tarter and a broken tooth (right
molar). So, a cleaning will be in place and the tooth will be removed to prevent it from abscessing.
But, overall, Zoe is now 63 pounds and quite healthy. She was getting a little lazy, but we added a new
dog to the house. Sandy is a 1 year old American Staffordshire and FULL FULL of energy! They
love to wrestle (lots of snorting going on) and when we take a walk on our 15 acres, they race around
like 2 puppies, trying to beat each other. We found out that if Zoe is on a leash and she sees another
dog, the reaction that everyone had thought was aggression, is actually her wanting to run over and
meet and play with the other dog. If they are way too hyper (which we found out while looking for
another dog) then Zoe will give warning growls. Zoe has had obedience training in the past and I am
learning to be a trainer in a way, so that I can help the fosters we may have. She learns quickly and
gets upset if you are not pleased. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to cuddle. and....YES! Zoe
stills LOVES to sleep under the covers!! =) My favorite thing about her is her wiggle and dance she
does when either she hasn't seen you for hours or you say that she is going for a walk or a ride! Well, I
do apologize for not updating this on a regular basis, but we have moved 2 times since we got Zoe and
lost our jobs. It's been hectic, but having the dogs is a great stress reliever. I hope to send pictures
soon too
