UPDATE 2/7/07 - Contessa, we call her Tessa (previously Vespa) has adjusted to living with us and her new pal,
Hunter, extremely well.  She had a very busy first weekend since all our family and friends wanted to come and say
hello to her.  By Day 2 (Sunday), she was exhausted and fell asleep on her new dad's lap in the recliner.  This has
become her favorite spot.
Hunter, a newfy/lab mix, absolutely loves her!  He thinks we got her for him.  But, she doesn't let him bully her at all
and usually instigates the wrestling.  They are having a wonderful time.
Tessa became potty trained fairly quickly. We put her on a schedule and that worked beautifully.  She's even
learned to go in the woods and not in the yard as Hunter does.  It certainly helps with the clean up!
Tessa came to us with a bit of a rash and extremely dry skin.  She was scratching a lot and the doctor put her on
some antibiotics. But other than than, she's a beautiful, healthy, energetic pup. She got a clean bill of health from
the vet and had her lime disease shots.
Tessa is very much puppy minded. She loves to play and jump around. She finally discovered she could bark after
being with us for about 2 weeks!
She now has settled into a routine of sleeping on the bed, and being in her crate for part of the day while we are
out.
We are slowly leaving her out of the crate when we're not home, but after an incident where she ate the dog toy
basket (not the toys) and chewed a hole in the recliner (which I was able to fix), we decided she's not ready to be
out for long periods of time alone.
All of us have completely fallen in love with her, and we are blessed that she came to live with us.  We look forward
to a very long and loving relationship together.

1/6/07 - Vespa has been adopted!

12/30/06 Vespa had her spay on Friday, everything went well. She is such a GREAT little dog! Everyone at the vet's
loved her. She is so sweet  that I had her out with all my company on Christmas day. She did very well until about
8pm when I found her curled up asleep, hiding under a table, totally pooped out! She still acts very young and loves
to play and box. Our guess is that she is a quarter beagle, she is shorter than a boxer and carries her tail like a
flag, but she is totally a sweetheart boxer girl inside! She is already fr her new home, could it be yours?

12/12/06 - I’m a very sweet boxer-girl. I recently relocated up here from the south and I am a very gentle kind
hearted girl. I love children of all ages and they like me because of my because of my small stature.

Some of my favorite things are playing outside with the other dogs, snuggling on the couch, eating biscuits, going
for walks, and being patted. I get along with everyone and my mom says I have no socialization issues (What ever
that means!). I am happy in crate while she goes to work and especially look forward to my filled “Kong toy
while she is away.

My foster family has a Boston accent and  they pronounces my name Vespaah !  If you talk really fast (and they
always do) it sounds a lot like Best-Buy, so that is what my foster mom’s grandson calls me.   I will come to
anything you call me because I  try my hardest to please .  I enjoy learning new things  and can give you either paw,
know how to sit and lay down on command. I am almost 100% housebroken and have had no accidents this
week. I am learning "leave-it" and I am learning how to play fetch.   I am a very nice southern girl who would love to
be part of your family. Won’t you consider bringing me home for the Holidays?

12/6/06 - I had not sent an update about Vesper as yet because I am letting her spend time in the house. I get the
impression she has not been in a house much or doesn't remember. She is not housebroken but we are working
on it. She doesn't know to ask to go outside. She goes in and out with the other dogs and she has had no
accidents since Monday.

Last night I coached her to come upstairs to sleep upstairs with me. She was very scared to climb the stairs at first
and was even more scared of the bed. I lifted her up into the bed and she was too afraid to jump off. Well, little
Vesper likes not being in her crate at night. She snuggled up so close to me all night long. She is such a love, but I
don't think she has had much experience in.around people. She is still a bit shy and tends to run off if I make
sudden movements. She is very calm and passive dog and shows no aggression towards me or the other dogs.
She is very gentle with Morgan and likes him very much. He, being an older gent ( 11) and has trouble with his
back legs has not been too keen on other dogs. He lets her lick his face and allows her to sleep touching him or
with him which surprises me. Vesper is learning to play fetch - and now runs after some balls but Harriet, my year
old beats her to the ball/toy ever time. Mostly Vesper will not challenge her if she has the ball and drops it when
both
dogs arrive on target at the same time. Harriet is a bully in every sense of the word, if you know what I mean.

Vesper is eating well. She loves biscuits and veggie treats and not the least bit fussy. She is one of the most gently
puppies I have had the pleasure to meet. She is very happy, friendly little girl. She is good with babies as well as
the under 5 group. This is a very sweet, gentle dog who will make a wonderful addition to any family! I hope she
finds her forever family soon. I think she may have had a difficult life before coming into SCBR. She is only a baby
herself and this boxer deserves a wonderful life.

12/1/06 - I spent the day Saturday picking up Vespa along with her 4 babies & a bunch of other dogs.  They came
up from a high kill shelter in Virginia, thanks to their special friend Mitch who drove several days to save them all
from death!   Thanks Mitch!

Vespa is a very sweet flashy brindle boxer girl with natural ears and tail & about 2 years old  We do think she is
purebred & just not great breeding, so she has a little longer nose.   She definitely is boxer-sweet & sure can
wiggle that tail of her's like crazy!!  She is ALWAYS happy!!  Guess she has a lot to be happy for & she is glad to be
safe with her 4 babies (
Carolina, Ranger, Anaheim & Philadelphia).  She is great with other dogs but needs a
home without cats as she thinks they are giant squirrels!  She goes in her crate with a little push & is very good in it
when she has to be crated.  Vespa loves to lean against you & be petted & told how beautiful she is.  She rides
great in the car & is wonderful on a leash too--what a great girl!!  She loved meeting some kids the other day (5 &
up) & just wiggled like crazy.  She was heartworm negative (YEAH!) & in another week or so she should be able to
be spayed (she needs some time since she recently weened her babies).  Don't miss out on this super nice &
HAPPY girl!
