(NOTE: Due to my hearing impairment, I will need a home with a fence, another dog and someone that
is home more often (ex: at home parent, work at home, work opposite shifts, retired, etc)
UPDATE 11/12/07 - It has been two days and we are in love! Trace is a bundle of energy, exploring
every crevice of our house and getting to know each of us. He is sweet, beautiful and gentle. What a
good fit. He took our family for a walk in the woods and makes friends with everyone he meets. He
was so worn out yesterday that he hogged half the bed and snored all night. We couldn't be happier.
11/10/07 - Trace has been adopted!
10/11/07 - Last week we got to take Trace to go see the vet. He weighed in at 57lbs. and he had a
slight infection on the side of his jaw. We received antibiotics for him and set up his neutering
appointment. The infection on his face is clearing up nicely. A few days ago we took Trace back to the
vet to be neutered. When I brought him back home he slept the rest of the day away. Then when he
woke up yesterday morning he was raring to go. It's like he never even had surgery. My husband says
Trace was still feeling quite amorous with Nikita. I'm still working on some signs with Trace. Now he
knows what the sign is for come. The tricky part is getting his attention first. We've learned that we have
to be careful when we outside. If the screen door doesn't shut all the way Trace is out the door after
you. He really loves to be outside a lot. Last week I caught Trace digging a hole in our yard. Every time
Noah would come near the hole Trace was digging, Trace would lay down on top of it. It's really
difficult to get mad at Trace when he has the tip of his tongue sticking out of his mouth. Trace is
continuing to do quite well with our 2 dogs. I like to take Trace, Nikita, and Noah for car rides. Trace
seems to really enjoy it. He keeps going from one window to the next to see what's happening. More
updates coming soon!
9/27/07 - Trace arrived on Sunday and is adjusting quite nicely. After being here for a few hours we
introduced him to our 9 month old Boxer Noah and our 4 year old Boxer Nikita. It's very rare that you
can catch him napping during the day because he's too busy wrestling with Noah. Trace tries to play
with Niki but she doesn't want to play with him. When Trace wants to go outside he will go and grab
his leash and bring it out to you. The only thing is that he doesn't like to let go of it. He goes for at least
1 walk a day and seems to do very well on the leash. Since Trace got here he has been almost glued to
my husband's side. If my husband leaves the room then Trace isn't far behind him. I learned a few signs
to teach Trace while he's with us. So far we are working on good boy, sit, and down. He definitely
knows down now, because everytime I turn around he's jumping on my couch to take a nap or looking
out the window. It's hard to get mad at him because he is so cute. When it comes to mealtime he means
business. The only downfall to that is that he such a slob, he gets his food all over the place. Right now
we are waiting to get him into the vets for a check-up and a heartworm test. After that will be his
appointment to have him neutered. I'm sure Nikita and Noah will be happy once that is done. It seems
as though Trace only has one thing on his mind. Nikita and Noah let him know that this is not
acceptable to them.
9/23/07 - My daughter and I picked up Trace today from a very sad owner and transported him to his
foster home. Trace is a big happy boy who is just friendly as can be. He is a good looking boxer boy,
pure white with one blue eye. His family works long hours and felt that Trace wasn't getting enough
attention & exercise. He was wonderful with the 3 children in his home (7-12 years) and is also used to
being around younger children because they frequently watch a 2 year old. They realized that Trace
deserves a home where he can get more attention.
When we first met Trace we were greeted like we were his long lost best friends. He did jump on us a
bit (he's a boxer pup so it was to be expected) but he settled down quickly and within minutes he was
laying down for a belly rub. Trace is crate trained (rode in it very quietly in the car) and housebroke.
Trace is deaf so he will need a home with a securely fenced yard and a hearing dog for company. When
we got to his foster home he met his foster family with wiggles and typical boxer excitement. Trace's
family gave him a real great start, he's obviously well socialized and knows some basic commands. He
will just need a family to fine tune his obedience skills and make sure he gets proper exercise. Trace
needs to be neutered then will be ready for adoption. More updates coming soon from his foster family.
