TIKI
UPDATE 11/5/07 -   So Sorry for not updating......I don't have a computer right now.
Tiki is ajusting well with us. He is a great dog.  I just got back from taking him to my parents house by
the lake.  He loves it there.  He just got done running around the yard like crazy.  I also took him for a
nice long walk.  After we got back from the walk, he found a nice stick to chew on and settled right in.
I took him to the vet's office and he is still in great health.  He just turned 2 on the 1st of November....I
got him a few presents (chew toys and raw hide bones).
Hopefully I will get to a computer and get to write more.  Tiki says Hi

UPDATE 7/2/07 - Sorry that I haven't contacted you sooner!
Tiki is doing great! We love him very much.  He adjusted very fast to his new home.  My sister is
visiting and her dog has been staying with us...he and Tiki are great friends.  I took him to the vet and he
is healthy.  He came to us with a few ticks on him.....but we took care of that instantly.  Tiki is a
camper!  We love to go camping and have taken him 4 times or more already.  We love going up north
and he loves it up there! He does great! Loves sleeping in our big tent! He still has alittle problem with
the way he greets people....but we are working on that. He just gets alittle nervous around new people
sometimes.  He also likes to eat alot!! We have to make sure there is never anything in his reach...lol.
He doesn't like small dogs at all right now.  We have 2 small dogs in the family and that hasn't gone
over well.  Maybe with sometime.  I haven't gone to obedience training with him yet, but you can tell
that he had already been through it once before...he is great! on a leash....knows alot of comands.  He
is deinitly a cuddler! I think he thinks he is a lap dog! Its so cute. We love having him as part of our
family.  I will try to keep you updated more often.

5/07- Tiki has been adopted!

5/10/07 - Tiki has been here for 5 days now and what a sweet boy he is!!! My husband absolutely
loves him!!! He would do best in a home with older dogs as he is extremly skiddish when our puppy
gets hyper. He does chase the cat right now, but not to hurt it, just to play with it!! He loves to swim as
we found out when he jumped out of the car which was parked at friends of ours and flew right into the
water. We let him swim then he came over and laid down in front of us. He has super car manners, his
previous family didn't like the way he greets people at the door, but so far so good here with us.  He is
completely housebroken, whines when he wants to go out, if your looking for a super boy thats great
with kids than this is the boy for you!!!

5/6/07 - Tiki came back into rescue yesterday from a very sad home.  They found as Tiki settled in, he
did not do well with people coming in & out of the house that was not his immediate family he lived
with.  He would growl or be on guard with people & did not do well in public places either with lots of
people.  He loved his family (as you can see in his pictures), but this time Tiki will need a home with less
activity as far as people coming in & out of the house.  He would not do well in an apartment/condo
setting or big city type area.  Do you have a quieter home that Tiki will love?  More updates soon from
his new foster home.

UPDATE 3/19/07 - Tiki is more relaxed.  He is finally house broken.  He barks when he wants to go
out.  He bothers the cats daily but when they have had enough they stand up to him.  He was suppose
to graduate from obiedence this Saturday but it was cancels until next Saturday.  I try to take him for a
walk every day weather premitting.  I posted some pictures of the kids with him on the group page.  He
is doing great!!

UPDATE 2/16/07 - Tiki was nervous at first.  He wasn't sure what was going to happen to him.  The
car ride home was 5 hours and he curled up on the back seat with my 13 year old daughter Alex.  We
kept him on a leash for a day or so because of the 2 cats.  He did try to give chase but they stood their
ground and gave him a few swats.  Once he realized the swats did not hurt he pressed his luck a little
more.  When he is caught bothering them all I have to do is say his name and he will walk away.  He
did not like the crate.  I bought a cheap one from Walmart and he destroyed it.  They did take it back
and gave me my money back.  I bought One from Petco and it is much stronger.  You would not
believe the day I walk in and the he had kicked the tray out of the bottom of the crate and walk into the
kitchen carring the crate on his back like a turtle.  That was the one from walmart.  He has finally settled
down in it with a bone filled with cheese.  We started obience training last Saturday and the teacher fell
in love with him.  He watch her intently as she walked around the center of the ring like he understood
what she was saying.  He loves the kids. All he wants to do is get as close as he can to them.  He
sleeps in bed with my husband and I and my 5 year will come in during the night.  I woke up one
morning and he was using her back as a pillow.  He loves pillows.  House breaking is going well. He
doesn't tell us when he has to go out so we just take him out often. He also loves to ride in the car at
first I had to boost him up now he jumps right in.  I also have been taking him on walks.  I bought him a
red sweater to keep him warm.  He is good with my 10 year old dog Blue.  At first he ran and rolled
her right head over heals. But he now realizes that he needs to be careful and is very gentle around her.
Thats about all for now.  I will update again in a month.

1/21/07 - Tiki has been adopted!

1/12/07 - Tiki has been the perfect house guest. He is definately coming alive. He finally started eating
which seemed like he went a little longer than most. But he has got it down pat now and eating two
meals per day. He loves the other dogs and there has been no problems except for the enforcer,
Peaches getting on his case once in a while. He seems to have bonded with my son who is home for a
short while. He follows him everywhere and will play with him at the drop of a hat. For a big young
boy, he is very gentle and will cry if he can't find him. He is just a big baby. We do crate him when we
are not at home and he goes in with a little help. We give him a peanut butter filled marrow bone but he
is not as motivated about it as some dogs are. He is just a beautiful dog, very tall and just the right
weight. I am waiting to get his vaccination history which should be here early this week, if not, I will
take him in to the vets to be brought up to date. There are certain things in the household that he acts
like he has never seen before. Like today, mopping was a big deal to him and a little frightened of the
vaccum cleaner. He does alot of watching from the sidelines. He has had a couple accidents in the
house but it has been very wet here and makes the decision to take the easy route. We laugh because
when he wants to go out, he will go over to the door and scratch up the throw rug and actually flip it
over to get your attention. He is really quite a character and just so loving. Any family would be very
lucky to have him in their lives. He will become a very dedicated dog to his family. Think about making
"T" a member of your family.

1/9/07 - Tiki is the newest guest to the Boxer'In on the lake. He is a beautiful neutered flashy fawn who
is an owner surrender due to a small child in the home being afraid of him. The previous owner stated
that he was nothing but gentle with her but on account of this he was spending too much time in his crate
or in the garage. So thankfully she cared enough to get him into rescue so that a new forever home
could be found. So far, he has been a perfect gentleman. He seems like a wonderful guy who gives
some kisses and lots of wiggles. We will update him again soon once we find out what he is all about.
