UPDATE 10/3/07 - Hello everyone.  Just a long overdo update on Tanner.  Tanner is the king of the
castle.  He goes everywhere possible and enjoys running in the yard when he can not go with us.  He is
still not fond of other dogs and takes about ten minutes to adjust to any male that comes into the house.
He is absolutely my best buddy!!  Obedience training helped with the basics, however tanner bomb
lived up to his name and he was too ""disruptive"" to continue on to further classes!!!  At that his mom
said, WHATEVER!!!!  The one thing I can assure you is the ridgeback tail certainly confuses the boxer
brain and he can not stop chasing it whenever he catches a glimpse at it--then the chewing begins--and
nothing has helped.  Other than that he his moms perfect angel and is trying to get me in shape with our
weekly hikes.  Dad calls him a primadonna and that suits him fine.  For the first time however, he did
get in trouble with me, but it took a cracked tail bone to do it.  The second I grabbed my running shoes
and headed down the stairs, the eighty pound clown took my legs out from under me and down I
went!! Oh yeah--eighty pounds--quite a bed hog!!  Now my e mail is up again and the kids are back in
school so I hope to be more helpful to you guys.  Thanks for Tanner!!!

UPDATE 5/29/07 - Tanner is known as big "T" around our house.  He is finally brave enough to stop
barking at the hair dryer, still thinks the vacuum is out for him, and loves to run in the yard for anyone
that will watch him.  He plays with anything and anyone.  I really do not have anything negative to say
about the guy.  He tries to own the bed on a chilly night, but other than that he minds his manners.  He is
very happy to be finished with school, and much to his dismay he learned quite a bit.  I tend to call him
Tanner "leave it" as he is discovering the bennefits of long legs and that pathetic puppy face looks for
trouble in the kitchen!!!  All in all, he truly is a gem, and we couldn't be happier.  He has his own
seatbelt in the car and goes with mom whenever he can, and goes to his crate with his head down
whenever he can't.  He definitly looks a lot tougher than he is.  Hopefully I can get pictures soon.
Thank you for a great dog.

UPDATE 4/26/07 -  Mr. Tanner----where to begin !!  My little boy is now 64 pounds and not fond of
the vet!!! In fact, I had to do the work because my little boy hid behind me and would not let anyone
near him.  He spoke with the most unusual whistle, it must be the rodie in him.  It was quite unique.
Anyways, later that evening we attended our first, and what I thought to be last, day of school.  All the
doge and people sent him for a loop!! He acted like the toughest dog in town-ridge up and all.  He
would not settle down, we even had to leave for a minute.  The trainer does not believe for a minute
that he is a big love.  Well, Tanner was placed away from everyone and had to wear a prong collar for
class.  I just about cried.  She called him dog and stranger aggressive and told everybody to watch out
for him!  How embarrassing.  Well, one correction with that evil device and he was right as rain.  Then
she brought out the treats and boy did he change.  A great idea-- burnt hot dogs--he loves them.
Cheap and safe for our pups!!  Needless to say, it all worked out in the end and after two weeks he is
even a better dog than before.  He is so amazing to control and such a loving trusting excellent pup.
She even explained to me about the bennefit of the prong collar verses the choke collar. The choke
chain can can actually cause more damage due to his size and strength, and the prong collar applies the
immediate pressure and releases it right away.  Anyways, it was all a happy ending and he continues to
get better each day.  We love our time in the car and yes, even school!!!!  Thanks a million.

UPDATE 4/13/07 -  Tanner 'Big T' is doing wonderful.  We could not have asked for a more perfect
gentleman.  We are still waiting for the honeymoon to end.  His collar continues to move up in size as he
is very much a growing boy.  He is doing very well with all of the little people that come in and out of
the house, and is starting to be the big man of the house whenever big people come to the door, but
settles quit easily.  Next week tanner has a busy week.  He has a check up with the vet and his first
night of school!!!  I am sure we will have many stories for you then.  He continues to snuggle with
everyone as they are going to sleep and finds a special place in his heart for my three year old.  They
are quite a team.  We will check in next week.  By the way, all the expensive toys, a waste--- Tanner
loves to fetch and chew sticks!!!

UPDATE 4/5/07 - WOw!!!!!  What a great boy.  Tanner is doing fabulous on his first week at his
forever home.  He is adjusting ver well to the queen of the house Annie, three children, two cats, a new
mom and a new dad.  He spends most of his day playing with everyone that comes in and out, taking
my 5 year old to the bus, meeting her to get off of the bus, playing some more, and collapsing during
nap time every afternoon.  His biggest afternoon dilemma is who he is going to snuggle up with, the
choices are just too much for such a young pup!!!  In the evening the queen of the house gets a break
and mom or dad takes him for a run or roller blading.  All is well unless a plane is overhead or a semi
truck is heard from miles away.  Hiding and barking at the top of his lungs has earned him the name "Big
T" from my husband.  The hair dryer and vaccuum seem to be his only adjustment issues at this time,
once again, earning the name "Big T" from my husband.  He is doing everything correctly as far as
minding his manners and keeping up a good appetite.  School starts for Tanner on the 17 of this month
and we shall see how much he enjoys that, as he as settled in to his ways quite nicely and quickly
already!!  I have a feeling it will be just like taking any other teenager to school.  He is definitely a
traveling buddy.  We had a great time together making our way back to New York.  Truth be told, we
stopped a few extra times just because it was so much fun.  Well, I am going to try and send some
pictures, as well as make my required phone call tomorrow, but the news was too good to hold back.
Thank you again to everybody and Beth--what a great job you did with him.  Thanks again.

3/31/07 - Tanner has been adopted!

2/24/07 - Well I am happy to report that Tanner is now a happy healthy and neutered young man. Last
week he went in to the vets and we decided the time was right.  He has recovered fully and is bounding
from room to room. We now also have a new weight on him of 51 lbs (Yes our boy is growing up!)

I took a trip to Atlanta last week and although Tanner did just great without his foster-mom at home, it
appears that he was just a bit disturbed by it and has been letting me know by having a few accidents in
the house since I got back. This should be a momentary tantrum that will pass. Otherwise Tanner
continues to play well with both cat and dog alike as well as with the people of the house. And true to
form he remains a favorite snuggle-doggie.

2/7/07 - Well it seems like forever since I've given an updated on Tanner. The house has been busy
with birthdays galore this month, and Tanner has been doing just fine in all the commotion. He's done
great with his house training. I would go so far as to call him officially house broken. YEAH!!! We are
now working on basic commands. Tanner already has "sit" down pat (especially if he hears the treat
box move LOL). Mostly we just enjoy just how playful he is. Much of the hard "work" is over, and so
much of the fun stuff is yet to come. Here is your chance for a great dog. He really won't disappoint!

1/21/07 - Tanner is doing just fine here Downeast. Lots of love and cuddles and playful as ever. I have
finally gotten around to updating some of his pictures. I tried, but pictures never really do justice to
show just how wonderful our dogs really are. These were an attempt to show some of Tanners calmer
more cuddly sides with both my son and the other beings in the house.

1/15/07 - Being that today was a holiday and thus a day off from work, I got to sleep in with the dogs
today. As usual Tanner the snuggle-bunny was right next to me zonked to the world. We just can't
understand what is taking his forever family so long to contact us. He has the sweetest morning kisses.
Tanner just can't wait to wake up with his family and give a lifetime of good morning kisses. As much as
he has enjoyed his time here with us, he says he would really like to go to his forever home soon. What
do you say?

1/9/07 - Well Tanner has been working hard on his New Years resolutions, and we are all very proud
of him here. He has made quite the impression on the kittens, who now tease Tanner every chance they
get because Tanner understands "NO". One kitten will even sleep in his crate with him. I have yet to get
the picture though.

Tanner is also doing great with his house training. Since the New Year he has had only 4 accidents in
the house. He whines at the door, and we know his "schedule". We have found his rhythm!!! Tanner
still does not enjoy being in the crate and will whine while in it as long as we are in the house. He is
crated when we are not home and quiets down quickly, but if we are home he wants to be with "his
people" and that generally works for us.

Everyday Tanner is getting bigger and bigger, but he still has lots of puppy energy and tons of puppy
love. Get your applications in, he is the dog you and your family have been waiting for.

12/29/06 - Well we are settling down from Christmas. The wrapping has disappeared and we have
managed to keep a few ornaments away from the pets until next year.LOL Our little Tanner-Bomb
(forgive the x-mas pun) is doing the same. He has graduated to sleeping most nights out of his crate with
us on the bed as long as he settles down for the night (there are some night when he gets restless
midway and goes to his crate for our sanity). Tanner is an awesome snuggle bunny at night and usually
"crashes" hard and is the last dog up in the morning. Tanner is also starting to sit at the door and
occasionally cry at the door when he needs to go potty. This is not constant, but we are seeing
improvements everyday as we continue to work with him and offer him consist reinforcements. (we
have even had an accident free day or two). Today Tanner met two of my son's friends. He did very
well with three 4-5 year old boys running around the house. As I have mention before Tanner will make
a great family pet. He is a great age and has the temperament to "grow up" with children and create that
childhood bond everyone dreams of giving to their kids. Get your applications in you will not be
disappointed.

12/16/06  - We have achieve Doggie Utopia here at last! Maizy and Tanner figured out yesterday that it
was better to make nice than to keep switching off in solitary confinement. Today they are tumbling
around together as if they have always been pals. This puppy has befriended a boxer, greyhound,
pit-bull, 2 kittens and a 4 year old (if this doesn't officially make him good natured I don't know what
does!).

We are continuing to make slow progress with his house training. Tanner seems to know that when he
has gone potty in the house (after the fact) he is in trouble, but still, not giving us any signals before
hand. So as a result we are trying to be hyper-vigilant about taking him out regularly. The good news is
that Tanner doesn't soil his crate, so that is always a fail safe when in a bind and of course at night.

Tanner is one wicked cutey. Are you willing to give him the little extra love and attention he needs to be
a successful addition to your family? Get your applications in, you will not be disappointed!

12/15/06 - Okay trying to get Tanner to hold still was not so bad. Then I had to introduce the reindeer
antlers.... enough said. This is the best of the bunch and a true testament to his personality.

12-13-06 - Tanner is a very rambunctious 4 month old puppy, who found us because his prior family
realized that they did not have the time to devote to him that he really needs. Tanner has been here now
for 3 days. During that time he has been formally introduced to all three dogs (two of the meeting went
well, as usual Maizy is being difficult), my 4.5 y/o son and our two kittens who are also about Tanners
age. Aside from Tanner being very bouncy and occasionally annoying the animals/son his intros have
gone well.

Tanner has had no exposure to collars or leashes until now, so his daily walks, especially those with the
other two dogs have looked more like a comedy routine (no sooner do I untangle him, and he finds
himself in a knot again). It is getting better with every walk. Tanner was exposed to crates prior to his
coming here, however since here he has consistently had trouble settling down in his crate, regardless of
if we are home or not. He is very good at "hamming it up" for attention. We are choosing to ignore it
and he has figured out that "the act" isn't working, so the performance seem to be getting shorter. LOL
Tanner has been great about going potty outside as long as we remember to walk him every 1.5 to 2
hours while he is out of the crate. As yet Tanner has not given us any potty signals "telling" us that nature
is calling.

Tanner is a very lovable young boy who will fit in nicely with a family that has both patience and energy
to spare. Being that he is sooo active he would make a great addition to a family seeking a playmate for
their four-footed friend. More to come soon and pictures when we can get him to hold still!  Happy
Holidays.
