UPDATE 3/6/12 - Its been a while and Spike will be 9ys old this month!! Just found he has Ventricular
Tachacardia and we almost lost him but luck was on his side!!! He is being treated with heart med and
in a few weeks will have a heart monitor on to see whats going on. We love him and he has been a
great dog!!! Had some issues with house breaking but I over look that at this put and he has come a
long way.
He has a friend Bruno we got from a friend at work that gave him to us. He is 2yrs old and keeps Spike
on his toes. Will keep you updated an his illness. Just enjoying the time we have left.
UPDATE 1/18/08 - Spike is doing very well he has been come my best buddy well besides my
greyhound Goodnight. They get along pretty well but they both fight for my attention.
I'm still having a tough time housebreaking him. He can not be in a crate so it is a little harder. He
knows he should go outside but he gets made when we leave. He also has separation anxiety. We just
started treating that with prozac.He is a love and I would never give him up.I hope we can get this
under control!!! I will do anything.He loves his life here seeing he is treated like a king. We will update
you soon!!!
UPDATE 8/9/07 - Hello,
Spike is doing well. We have a few issues we are still working on. He has accidents in the house and
has separation anxiety. We put him on meds and he is doing better. He still tears down the shades. We
are starting obedience school next month and I hope that will help.He is in great health!!!
Spike does love the car and loves to go for walks. So we do that everyday unless it is to hot.
He gets along with my greyhound he just hates when I give Goodnight attention.
I will kepp you updated on Spike and get a picture in when I have a chance.
4/13/07 - Spike has been adopted!
4/5/07 - Unfortunately Spike is back to find a different home as his new home did not feel he was fitting
in. More updates soon from his foster home.
3/25/07 - Spike was adopted!
3/21/07 - I'm Spike. I had my 4th birthday this week. Whew! This was a rough week for me, but I am
settling in very nicely with my new foster family. I was pretty scared at first, but I am getting the hang of
this new routine and dealing with my new baby sister. You know how kid-sisters can be don't you?
Have you seen my picture? I am a very handsome fawn boy, who is very gentile and affectionate. I love
to snuggle, very well mannered and know all my basic commands. Did I mention I love kids? Oh, and
don't forget the gentle and well mannered part. I greet my foster-mom when she comes home by sitting
or just wiggling until she pats me. I don't ever jump on people (unlike my foster sister) or bark to greet
people.
I can't be crated because when I was a pup someone was cruel to me while I was inside a create and I
am very afraid of going inside again - too scary. But, don't worry, I can be trusted to be loose in the
house and not get into any trouble! From day one my new mom left me alone in her house. She leaves a
Kong toy or other toy to keep me occupied while she is at work. I t work too! My job is to ensure
everything is safe for when she returns.
And when she does, I love playing outside with my foster-mom and her puppy. I am good at playing
fetch and I walk nicely on a leash - I did mention I like to go for walks didn't I? Please consider taking
me home with you as I will take as good of care of you as I do my new mom.
