| 1/12/08 - Skittles' nose is still a little snotty. Her skin is very prone to abrasion. She comes in from outside with something new bleeding all the time. That is why it is not wise (beside the continuous snotty nose) that she play rough with the big boys. They play tackle, not flag football all the time. She just needs some more time to be ready for normal life. We are set up with separate runs, outside kennels, and a room for her. 1/11/08 - I brought Skittles to the vet yesterday. She needs one more month before she can get spayed. She has another round of antibiotics and a wormer, (now for three days and then three weeks from now for three days). It is going to take her months to gain her weight back and she has very thin skin. She is being quaratined from the other five dogs because of her kennel cough. She is desperate to play and be with someone all the time. 12/29/07 - This little girl named Skittles by the shelter should be called Bambi. She is very, very sweet and gentle. She has the look of a baby. Her markings are just perfect. Her black mask extends symmetrically around each eye. Her ears have slightly darker markings to blend with her perfect little face. Just the toes on each foot have white fur. Her nature is relaxed, affectionate and calm. She has had a rough go of it. The poor baby came in very thin and with an extreme respiratory infection. After a vet visit and plenty of antibiotics she is on the mend. Now she is eating well, chewing bones and wanting affection I can't image what went wrong for this angel. She is living with 5 other dogs, although hasn't had a chance to play yet. You can tell she is dying to get in the group. She has learned to accept the crate and goes in willingly. No negative behaviors, no aggression what so ever. Willing to please, get better, gain lots of weight and go to her new home. 12/22/07 FROM SOME OF SKITTLES' TRANSPORT VOLUNTEERS: "She is a very sweet, gentle girl despite being skin and bones, having the worst case of a runny nose I have ever seen and a really bad crusty nose. I am positive Maureen will nurse her back to health. She is going to make a fine addition to a family one day." - Cindy "OH MY GOD! What a sweetie! She didn't bark once. I'm so not used to that. She definately needs about 20 pounds." - Stevan |
