ROSCOE
NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such
as retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc.

UPDATE 9/23/07 - Hello Everyone
Rosco is doing very well.
Our new life with Rosco started out with an 11 hour ride from Buffallo, New York to Littleton, New
Hamshire. Our biggest concern about adopting him was the car ride back up north. But, he did great!
We stopped every few hours to let him stretch and he slept the entire way.
We have had him for a little over a month now, and he is adjusting to life in the mountains of northern
New Hamshire. His front leg, which was badly fractured, is now completely healed. He is very active,
and able to run and jump as if the injury never occured.
My wife is home with him most days. He hates being alone. Although he was crate trained while being
under foster care, he now will not tolerate it and we have put up a 10' by 10 kennel in the basement
for the times when he is alone.
They say boxers are great escape artists and Rosco definitley lives up to that reputation. The first time
my wife put him in the kennel, she came home and he was gone. She cound not figure out what had
happened to him and after searching the house found him asleep in his chair.
At first she thought he had somewhow managed to jump over the six foot high fence, but then she
found a small hole where he had chewed his way through the steel wire and squeezed through a hole
no bigger than five inches in diameter. Since then, we completely rewired the kennel and so far it has
been "Rosco-proof".
We have a private trainer working with us to train him and he has been doing quite well. He is
incredibly strong and the first time we took him for a walk I thought he was going to rip my arm out of
the socket. He now will walk beside both myself and my wife and will match our pace, although he still
gets distracted by other dogs and animals.
My wife and I both love him and he has a great life here in the country. We want to thank everybody
who worked so hard to rescue him from what would have been a very short life. The most
appreciation goes out to Jeri and Glen who spent months taking care of him after his surgery to repair
his leg.

UPDATE 8/21/07 - We had Rosco for a week now his adjusting well. He loves to walk and rides in
the car. His been a very good boy in the house. You don't know that he had problem with his leg. He
walk up and down the stairs and jump up and down the bed with no problem. Jeri and Glenn did a
great job taking good care of him. Were glad we found him. His a good and loving companion puppy.

8/12/07 - Rosco has been adopted!

8/3/2007 - Sweet boy Rosco visited his Vet buddies for the last time yesterday. He went for his "nip
and tuck" and a final set of x-rays to see how well his bones have healed over the last 8 weeks. We
are thrilled with the news that we received about this very special boxer boy. Our Vet friends were
happy to give Rosco a clean bill of health. They said the x-rays showed the bones healed just as they
hoped they would and that Rosco can start getting into normal boxer trouble (err, we mean, activities)
again, but we must monitor
him for a few more days due to his neuter surgery.

Even in a groggy fog, Rosco was so happy to get back to the Boxer Academy after his surgery. He
managed to slowly wag his tail when he was greeted by his foster brother and sisters. They had to sniff
him all over to make sure this was really their good pal Rosco who was coming in the door. Rosco
didn't want to eat or drink anything last night, but with morning came his usual appetite and he polished
off a fine breakfast today.

Rosco is so eager to meet his new family. He heard that they have been waiting and waiting so
patiently for him to first make a full recovery from leg surgery, and then to recover from his "nip and
tuck" surgery. Poor Rosco...the next time he visits a friendly Vet he hopes it's just for a meet and greet
social call and to pick up a treat or two. Our wonderful rescue Vet even put Rosco's x-rays on a
DVD so his new family can give them to their own Vet for history.

How we will miss this wonderful, sweet, happy boxer boy Rosco when his forever family comes to
meet and adopt him. But we also couldn't be happier for this little guy who has been through so much
and who now has his forever family. He will be a loving life-long companion to his new Mom and Dad
and they will be amazed at the devotion he will show them.  Be happy little man. We love you!

7/7/07 - Yikes has it only been 4 weeks since Rosco's surgery? The end of the 8 - 9 weeks of
recovery just can't get here soon enough for all of us because it is getting more difficult to keep this
happy boy just "chilling out". Rosco truly is a handsome, lovable, and precious almost 9 month old
boxer boy. We love him dearly and he will make some family very happy with his affection and
devotion.

He must have many fans out there in the boxer loving world and he would like to personally give huge
lick, lick, licks to everyone who is thinking of him, wishing him well, and who donated to help him
recover. However, we are not going to let him do that because exotic travel must still be kept to a
minimum. If he could, he would find you, gaze at you with his big brown eyes and then move in for a
quick, gentle smooch. Not to be outdone, he boxer tail would be wagging full-speed and non-stop!
Oh, he would also bark
loudly..."Take me away from these crabby people who won't let me run, jump or play with the other
critters at the Academy. Don't they know I am a happy, fun-loving freshman?"

Boy, do we know it and we can't wait until Rosco can exercise a little more and slowly regain his
strength. Hang in there Rosco-boy! There is a family out there just waiting to adopt you and bring you
back to full health and happiness. In the meantime, please be patient, don't pull so much on your leash,
don't paw at kitty with that clunky leg of yours, and just "chill out" in the crate already! You just have
to wait a little longer to find your new loving family, but we know that special home is out there looking
for you, too!

6/20/2007 - My, how time flies at the Boxer Academy. Roscoe wants everyone to know that he has
been a very good boy and has visited his Dr. friends twice since his leg operation. He is now sporting
a very firm splint contraption complete with heavy duty sport wrap to help stablize his healing leg.
Roscoe has gained his appetite and along with it, four pounds! So he now weighs a handsome 49 lbs.

What a delightful young student Roscoe is proving to be. He has met everyone here at the Academy
and gets along just great with all of us...We love him and wish he could be given the freedom to take
the subjects he likes best such as: Gymnastics, Track & Field, Wrestling, Steeple Chase, High Jump,
and Lick-o-mania.

However, for the time being he must make do with these all important studies: Crate Philosphy, the Art
of Drool, Famous Cone-heads of the 21st Century, and Observation 101. He does get outside for
some Advanced Rest & Relaxation under a shady apple tree and he continues to be quick to do his
duties outside - STILL ZERO accidents. He is totally house trained and sleeps through the whole night
like a log (complete with saw). Man, does he snore! But it's so cute coming from him.

We confess that because we must crate him at times during the day (when he can't be under constant
watch) we do let him sleep on the bed. This is the one time that he is totally at peace and he has no
desire to stray from such comforts.

Roscoe remains on a short leash at all times because he is so intrigued by everything he hears, sees,
smells, feels, etc. and he would run lickety-split after whatever captures his fancy. He is very friendly
with Mr. Kodak, our head cat-master, and we can tell that if it was up to him, Roscoe would be
playing "chase the kitty" instead of just "sniff the kitty". Roscoe is just so good and he tries so hard to
be a calm, polite, attentive boxer boy. We know that in his heart, mind and athletic body he is yearning
for that green light to run like the wind. Will you be the lucky family to watch him joyfully prance and
proudly strut in your back yard? Only if you get your application in...

6-12-07 - Mr. Kodak's Academy for Fine, Young Boxers - fondly referred to as "The Boxer
Academy" welcomes Roscoe, an 8 month old beautiful fawn boy who just recently had surgery to
repair breaks in his Tibia and Fibula front right leg. He is a sweet, charming boxer boy who would like
nothing more than to
play with the rest of the crew at the academy, but of course we must restrict all physical activity for at
least 8 weeks. There can be no jumping, running, or jostling for our boy. This is a critical healing time
for Roscoe, so he is crated quite a bit to make sure he gets plenty of rest and to make sure his good
prognosis becomes reality.

We can't thank our veterinarian friends enough for their skills, for taking such good care of Roscoe, for
giving him a chance to walk on four legs, and for calling SCBR to help. Roscoe, now sporting a plate
and five screws, is on antibiotics and Rimadyl to help him through the initial phase of recovery.

We walk Roscoe on a very short lead when he goes out for "doggy doody" and is he ever a
well-behaved and clever puppy to have had ZERO accidents in the crate or in the house, even after
the trauma of surgery. What a good, good boy he is.

Unfortunately, if left to his own devices, Roscoe would chew his bandages and of course, they must
stay in place and stay DRY, so when he is not being supervised, he must wear a "cone" on his head.
He is patient with us as we tie it in place, all the while giving us such soulful looks with his big, brown
eyes.

Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts and send him good healing vibes. We will keep you posted on
his progress.

HELP NEEDED FOR ROSCOE!

Roscoe badly broke his leg due to an accident in his home.  His
family was given an estimate of over $2,400 to fix his leg.  Because
they could not afford this, Roscoe was given only 2 chances: be put to
sleep or have the surgery and get into rescue where we could raise
the money needed to help him. That's where YOU come in!  We are
in DESPERATE need of funds right away to pay for the surgery he
had.  Even with the more than generous discount the vet gave us, we
will need about $1,000 to cover his vet bills.
