UPDATE 3/7/07 - Riley as been with us for one month and seems to be settling in nicely. At first,
whenever one of us would leave the room to get a cup of coffee, start dinner, whatever - he would
get up and follow us. Was very nervous if we "left" him. Fortunately, we are both retired and one of
us is home with him during the day. We stayed with him for 2 weeks before going out and leaving
him home alone and he did very well.
No trips as yet other than taking him to the vet - we really just wanted to show him off! But, they did
give us salve for his eyes - conjuctivitis and it seems fine now. We start obedience training this
coming Monday. I described to the trainer how good he was and she informed me it might be a
"honeymoon" period. He had not once tried to get up on furniture, no trolling about the trash. Guess
she was right, he is now comfortable enough to be a little more inquisitive!! Loves the bed, which we
did invite him on - he is soooo happy there curled up on our pillows!
He is pretty good on the leash, but hasn't gotten out for his walk for a couple of days - it is just too
cold out! We have fenced backyard so he just runs out, does his business quickly and dashes back
into the house! We do play a little with his toys and that seems enough til it warms up - 40's this
weekend - balmy.
My husband takes him every morning down to the local news store to get the paper and everyone
there just loves him and he gets a special treat. We are really looking forward to "school" next week
to really get Riley just perfect!!
2/6/07 - Riley has been adopted!
1/31/07 - Riley hasn't been here long, but has adapted very well to our house and dog family. He is
no longer confused! He has learned to use the dog door, has found the bone pail, and the toy box!
He is not good with many squeaky toys, so we changed the assortment of toys to the tougher ones.
He plays will with all of the dogs, is very laid back in attitude, doesn't bother the cats, and is in
general a very nice dog to have around.Riley loves to cuddle, hasn't had even one accident since he
has been here, shows that he is a well trained guy, but needs a bit of review on the leash walking, as
he does pull a bit. He now needs a forever home.
1/26/07 - Riley is very stressed and doesn't know what is going on. I feel bad for him, but he is
slowly getting acclimated here. The Log Cabin is going to be his foster home for awhile. He originally
was adopted in Nov. 2004 and was surrendered yesterday. His old pictures do not do him justice.
He is a beautiful, flashy, reverse brindle boy with a fantastic personality. He is just over 5 years of age
(listed birthdate is 11-1-2001). He is up to date on his shots and is microchipped. He weighed in at
the vet at 67.5 lbs. He was seen by the vet on Jan. 23, 2007 to be sure that nothing is wrong, which
there was not.
11-2004 - Riley was adopted!
11/04/04 Riley went to see the vet yesterday. He weighed 52 pounds, got all his shots, was
heartworm and lime negative. Riley was acting a little stiff in the back end and I wanted to have that
checked out. We think he is getting more exercise than he is use to running in the fenced yard. Riley
was wonderful with the vet, giving lots of kisses, he held his leg right out for the blood draw. Riley
rode wonderful in the car and seemed to enjoy going along. Riley is completely cratetrained and
housebroken. He listens really well and has warmed up to everyone. I think he will make a great
addition to any family. He needs to gain a few pounds and a little more confidence then he will be
ready to move on.

10/31/04 Riley is a owner surrender to rescue. He came in with his pal Brody. Riley has lived with
dogs, cats, kids and a bird. He has been through a round of obedience. Riley is very scared right now
and is going to need sometime to warm up. He has not been well cared for, for the last month or so
and needs to put on some weight and trust again. Riley seems very attached to Brody so at this point
we would like them to go together. We will update you as we get to know them.
