UPDATE 8/14/07 -   the boys are doing wonderful..he hit a bump in the road with paris, his stomach
flipped, and he was rushed into surgery..$2000.00 later he is back to his old self..rex has learned how to
climb up the ladder into the boy's play house and then goes down the slide with them..this is to funny to
watch, he is to quick about it, and i never have time to grab my camera...lol..paris is still by my side at all
times, and we all get lots of love from them..rex and my 6lbs min pin lay together on the floor and play at
times, chewy is to fast for rex but he tries to keep up with him...they have both finished their obedience
classes and have passed with flying colors!!!! the trainer kept saying what well behavied dogs they
were...they are both such a joy to have in our home!!!! they are very loved, and give alot of love in
return...thank you all sooo much for such a great gift!!!!

UPDATE 7/3/07 - rex and paris are settling in very well...it's like they have always been here!!!. paris is
my constant companion, he is always by my side, rex is never far behind unless my kids are in the room
them im second best..these two boys have meet everyone in the neighborhood, and they greeted them all
with lots of kisses..these two handsome boys are so gentle and love their walks that we go on everyday.
they both listen very well, and get lots of praise...what a joy to have them in our home!!!!

6/30/07 - Paris has been adopted! (with his brother!!!!!!!!!!!!)

5/18/07 - The Riverview is enjoying its first real 'pack' of Boxers.  While Beau is too old to want to play
with anybody, Rex and Paris are having a blast with Bruno.  We have a big fenced in back yard and they
are running and jumping and boxing and body-slamming each other to beat the band (when it's not
raining).  These rwo don't like the rain any better than my other two--but they do go out to do their
business.  No
mistakes of that sort for these two mature gentlemen.  Paris will steal Rex' food if he gets a chance--that
must be why he is a little chunky and Rex is so slender.  I think all this exercise will be good for them.
And of course they continue to be calm Boxer-babies when they are in the house (for the most
part--Bruno will try to get one of them going, but I make them take it outside).

5/10/07 - Another day, and I have one big happy Boxer family here at the Riverview!  Bruno met Rex
and Paris and everyone is getting along.  I do like having four happy Boxers laying at my feet as I type on
the computer.  (I do not like it as much when all four of them are trying to follow me around my little
kitchen, but I am managing).  I am delighted that everyone has accepted all the others and that I am seeing
lots of wiggling nubs.  (Rex's is not so little, but it is still wiggling!)  I came home from work, too hot and
tired to take a walk, which probably would have been good for me, so my Cesar Milan act will have to
wait until the weekend.  I am not up to four at a time, but I am willing to give three at a time a go.  I may
even get to the dog park.  Their background information says that they loved going to the dog parks
out-of-state.  We'll see if they also like them in Maine.

5/9/07 - What wonderful guests these two are! They already enter their crates without a push, and are
quiet as mice when they are in them. They have free rein of the house when they are not crated, and not a
single misbehavior of any sort has occurred. They each individually met my Beau, and now all three can
be together when I am with them. They are crated all day while I am at work, and again for sleeping, with
as much family time in the evenig as is possible. Which they love! They are lovers, and kissers.
Bruno has not yet been introduced in person. He has indicated an interest in happily meeting them, but I
prefer to take more time so that I can be more confident that he will accept them without incident.
Rex and Paris and I went for a walk through the neighborhood this evening. The weather was wonderful
and sowas their behavior. Admittedly, they did pull a tiny bit on the leash, but they responded well to "No
Pull" and we did have a nice time. No barking at dogs or persons, just more nub-wagging and happy
curiosity. Tomorrow I will try three at once, adding Beau. (I am beginning to look like Cesar MIlan!)
They are good watch dogs, barking at strange noises, but settle down immediately and are happy and
friendly. These are great dogs!

5/5/07 - Rex and Paris have arrived at the Riverview Boxer Hostel.  While we wer already full, we
decided that we would squeeze 2 more in for a week or two.  They are a loving bonded pair who
unfortunately needed to be returned to Rescue after happy years in the home we all thought would be
their forever home.  But divorce hurts people and their beloved pets, and these 2 couldn't stay.  So they
are here!  I have had lots of Boxer slobbery kisses, and lots of nub-wagging.  No introductions yet with
the residents here, but nubs on most of them were wagging as noses got close through the crates and
through the baby gates.  Speaking of crates, they both are perfectly behaved in the crates, but right now
are needing some physical encouragement to enter them.  All in all they are 2 lovely well-mannered older
gents who are welcome here.

UPDATE 6/9/05 - Rex & Paris' 3 montth update: Rex and Paris have settled in pretty well over the last 3
months. They are both very loving and sweet dogs. Paris will always greet you at the door with one of his
toys or a bone, wiggling his backside out of control. Rex will want to give you kisses until you fall on the
ground. He likes to jump up on people and we have been working on this but it is only out of excitement
because he wants to greet you. We call Paris "Smiley" because he really does smile. For large dogs they
are very gentle most of the time. We have learned that we cannot leave cardboard recycling or anything in
cardboard boxces lying around because they will find it and rip it to shreds. This is how we learned they
really like Nilla Wafers and Wheat Thins! They both beg while we eat, usually resting their heads on our
laps but it is hard to 'yell' at them when they look so sweet! As for other things, when you sit on the sofa
they want to climb on top of you, which they do quite well. Although, lately we have not been able to let
them sleep downstairs in the living room because Rex seems to think the hardwood floor next to the piano
or in front of the TV is his personal bathroom. We are not sure how to break him of this habit. He didn't
start doing it until maybe one month ago and for no particular reason. We didn't change our routines or
introduce anything new into our daily life. We don't enjoy waking up every morning to poop and pee on
the floor so, for now they are gated out in the kitchen at night, which is plenty large enough. We have
taken them to their obedience class. Rex listens much better than Paris who gets very preoccupied with all
the other dogs in the class, including a very young Boxer. We learned that their previous owners spoke to
them in Polish so we have to figure out their commands in Polish, maybe Paris prefers it to English! Our
next door neighbor has a Boxer who comes over to visit quite often. He gets both Rex and Paris riled up
and ready to play. We have taken the dogs to the big open but protected areas of one of our local
colleges to run and play. We are fortunate to live in a city with three! The first time we lugged all their
toys, balls, tug ropes but all they were interested in doing was running around like crazy so that's what
they do. They have been to the vet for their checkups and they had bloodwork to test for heartworm and
lyme disease. Both are negative for heartworm but tested a faint positive for the Lyme disease. So, they
are on antibiotics for 2 more weeks as a precaution and we are told this should take care of the problem.
They are also being treated with Frontline Plus and Heartguard now so they should be good to go. Both
Rex and Paris have lost weight and are at much healthier weights now, Rex is 79 lbs and Paris is 89 lbs,
but they are both very tall / large dogs to begin with.

UPDATE 3/23/05 - This is Rex & Paris checking in for our one week, ok 10 day update. Our new
parents drove almost 8 hours to come and pick us up, through many snow squalls and rain storms. We
had a fun trip back to Pennsylvania making several stops along the way to stretch our legs. Any time the
car slowed down to go through a toll we popped our heads up to see what was going on.

Upon arriving home we had two new dog beds waiting for us, along with a bunch of chew toys, bones,
dishes, and play things that our new parents were eager to give us. We spent the first night in the kitchen
on our new beds. After the third day we were aloud to freely explore the first floor of the house and this is
our routine every day now when our parents come home from work. Our new cat sisters don't seem real
thrilled by our presence yet, perhaps if we try to give them kisses again they will like us more. We don't
pay much attention to the cats anyway, we are too busy trying to take over the sofa or chair that our
parents are sitting in at the time. We love to give kisses like crazy, play tug-o-war, and go for walks
around the neighborhood. This will have to do until mom and dad have the new picket fence installed in
May. We have met our new Boxer boy neighbor that lives next door. We did the normal Boxer bump
thing that we like to do and are looking forward to more playing after the fence is here.

One of our bad habits is to rest our head on our parents lap while they are trying to eat, all the while giving
them the "sad eye" look but so far they haven't given in to us and fed us from the table. Our new mom
bought us these cool "Greenies" bones that are good for our teeth and breath. We made them disappear
very quickly, in fact, Mom thinks we hid them somewhere. Other than that our parents are looking into
obedience classes for us. We are pretty good with commands already but our new dad thinks mom needs
to work on her "firm voice" more because she likes to hug and cuddle us a lot. OK, that's it for now, we'll
catch up with you soon!  --Rex & Paris

3/12/05 - Paris has been adopted! (with his sibling Rex!!)

03/05/05 Rex and Paris and my Flash all climbed in the Jeep last night and became "gentlemen callers"
and we went visiting several homes. They were all wonderful and had a blast everywhere they went. He
was hapy to greet everyone with kisses - male, female, older, young, you name it. He was great with Jill's
4 year old son and her older daughter, so he has perfect manners with the little ones.He is getting used to
eating dry food, and once he gets started, he goes at it with a vengeance. While he is certainly overweight
now, he will always be a beefy, sturdy tank even when he slims down. He has a very strong, solid build
and a gorgeous, dark brindle coat. He is also pretty energetic when he is outside and not at all lazy - he
likes to romp around and chase after Rex and explore and have a good time, but always comes when
called. He is a really good, happy boy with tons of love to give.

I don't crate either
Rex or Paris when I leave and they do fine by themselves. They don't get into anything
(the kitchen door is closed so that helps) and don't seem to be the kind of guys who will chew up shoes
or anything like that. I'll bet it's the kingly life of leisure for these guys when I am gone, and maybe a little
play with each other. They are both very well behaved.

He is a very sweet, loving, handsome boy who will make an excellent companion in any kind of
household. He goes with the flow and is happy go lucky and seems up for anything. He likes to play, but
not too much. He and his lifelong companion
Rex do very well together and are very easy and sweet, so
please consider bringing them both into your home together. You will be amazed at how easy and
wonderful they both are, and how much they like having each other, too. They are such well behaved
dogs that having two of them is no more work than having just one, and it means double the reward for
you.

03/02/05 - I wanted to share some of the info on the surrender papers with everyone, so you can see
how awesome and loveable both of these sweet, funny guys are:

Dogs are super friendly and get along really well together. They are used to going to the dog park
and get along with other dogs there. They like car rides. They like all people, walks (they will walk
with owner without a leash, but she often uses the leash). The owner had a doggy door that the
dogs use to go outside when they want to. They go in and out all day to a fenced backyard. They
sleep on the floor on a mattress. They like swimming. Rex and Paris are very curious and playful
and they are like members of the family. They live with a smaller dog (a Bichon) and a cat and do
well with both of them.Dogs are part of the family. Family is very sorry to have to surrender them.
They are selling their house and the husband is ill and the wife is unable to care for the two dogs.

It's also worth mentioning that they are from a Polish family and know English and Polish commands. It's
clear that these dogs were not only treated well, but trained well also. They are very obedient and
friendly. plus, if you have a chin, they have kisses!!!

03/01/05 Paris is settling in very nicely with his lifelong companion, Rex. Both are sweet, easy dogs. I can
walk both of them on two leashes with one hand. The minute there is the slightest tug on the leash, they
stop. I think they would do ok if they are separated, but it would also be great to see them go to a forever
home together. They get along very well with my 8 year old male, Flash. Today they were all comfortable
enough to play a three-way game of tug together. It was very cute.

So far, no accidents in the house, and I was concerned that since they had a dog door in their previous
home that they wouldn't adapt well to having to go "on cue" but they do just fine. In fact, neither of them
have to go out very often - just a few times a day, and really like our walks and even seem to enjoy the
cold weather and snow.

Paris is definitely overweight, but hasn't been eating much since they arrived. They are used to the finest of
meals, and dry dog food, even with a little canned mixed in isn't quite up to their standards, but late
yesterday, they did finally get hungry enough to act like that stuff I put in the dish really is food LOL! They
seem to be expecting filet mignon and are getting the doggy equivalent of hot dogs and mac 'n cheese or
Ramen noodles, I guess, which they would probably prefer to dry kibble! Neither try to get up on the
furniture unless it's to snuggle with a human who is already on it.

Paris is my new buddy and follows me everywhere. He loves to smile up at me and wiggle and give me all
the kisses I'll let him get away with. He would prefer my constant atention but when he sees I am busy, he
lays down near me and is fine with that. Paris was a little nervous at first but seems to be over that now.
He's really sweet and funny, and even with his very stocky, tank-like build, he's got a spring (and a
waddle) in his step when he is happy or excited. His coat is soft and thick and beautiful and he's a
fantastic companion and listens very well. He and Rex and my Flash were playing a few days ago and
started getting out of hand and all I had to do was clap my hands and sternly say "Hey!!! That's enough!!"
and I immediately had three smiling boys sitting like angels in front of me. From what I can gather, his
original loving parents were told he was a purebred boxer, but as he got older, it appeared to them that he
may be a mix. I don't believe there are papers on him, but SCBR folks are still trying to track all of those
details down so we can find out more. Don't miss out on this sweet, loveable guy, and consider pairing
him with his life buddy,
Rex. They are very easy, obedient and you won't be sorry.

02/26/05 - Paris arrived with the help of many transporters, along with his companion, Rex. Both are
reluctant and heartbroken owner surrenders, who, due to illness and financial issues had to make the
difficult decision to put their dogs' well being first and get them into rescue. So far, it is obvious that they
were very well loved, trained and well-fed... I see diet and exercise in their future here!!! They are both
very sweet, love to give kisses, happy go-lucky, love people and other dogs and will make great additions
to any lucky homes. It was decided on the journey from NJ that it would be better if they were fostered
together, but I think once they adjust to all the changes in their lives, they could be separated and be
happy. They are just sweet, loving guys! Keep your eyes out for pics and updates on these two lovable,
snuggly, moosey dogs. Paris is a boxer mix (likely with another solid terrier-type dog) but is very
handsome and more boxer-like than anything else. Get your apps in now - they are real gems!
