UPDATE 6/2/07 - We are so sorry to report to everyone that Murray has gone to Rainbow Bridge.  He had issues with displaced aggression and unfortunately he could not be safely placed in any home.  This was a very difficult decision, but we know that it was what was best for Murray.  He had such a GREAT BIG loving heart and never meant to hurt anyone, something in his head just made him lash out unnecessarily.  The guilt that he felt afterwards was nothing short of heartbreaking and obvious, he just couldn’t control it, there was no need to reprimand him; he punished himself enough.  We are all so heartbroken; this is easily the most difficult thing we have ever had to do.   We find comfort in knowing that Murray made his journey to the Bridge with people that he knows love him by his side.  He deserves nothing less.

He will deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts as well as the hearts of his foster family who also loved him dearly.  Our home will NEVER be the same, that’s for sure!

We don't want Murray to be remembered for this aggression.  He was SO MUCH more!!  He was a big goof ball :) a proud prancing boy, my shadow, a “grand-doggy” to my Dad, a real clown, a "kidney-beaner from way back," loved to dance.  He was our son's soccer buddy, our daughter’s dress-up boy, my Mom’s favorite photo-op.  He gave the best boxer kisses, he was an awesome traveling buddy, our cat's best friend, & ours too!  He loved everyone and everything he met.  He loved all people young and old, cats, ferrets, dogs, horses, even hamsters.  Plain and simple: HE WAS JUST A LOVE.  He made sure that he tucked the kids into bed every night (goodnight kisses and all), and was always the first one ready for story time.  He was my bed buddy; crawling into bed with us every morning at 6:45.  My exercise pal, and security guard, my husbands wrestling buddy, and always the first to greet Daddy when he arrived home from work.  He was the most amazing runner we have ever laid eyes on.  M!
urray
brought so much love, joy and laughter into our lives.  He taught us so much about compassion, tolerance and forgiveness, and loving deeper than we ever thought possible.  There is a huge hole in our hearts where he used to be, but now he is nuzzled in our souls, forever a part of who we are.

Murray is running free (one of his absolute favorite things to do) in the sun-filled fields of Rainbow Bridge and we will once again be together some day.  We wouldn’t trade a second we had with him for anything in the World!

** We love you Murdog!!**

Until then sweet boy…until then…

UPDATE 5/8/07 - Murray is doing so well here.  He has been attending obedience at Ellis Dog Training in Dover, NH and loves it :)  After just 2 classes, we can already see more confidence oozing out of him.  He is so eager to please.  Murray still doesn't care to be left home, but if it is just for 30 minutes to an hour he's fine with it.  He absolutely loves going for rides in the car, but is so possessive of the back seat!  If anyone looks into or walks past the vehicle he freaks out and starts boxing the window!  He sounds vicious, but truth of the matter in all he wants to do is get out and kiss the person to death :]  We are definitely going to have to keep working on that though, because we are concerned he could break the glass and get hurt in the process.  We did buy him a harness/seatbelt which limits his mobility, and he has done well with that so hopefully that has cured the issue.  He's been enjoying the sun and cruisin' in our muscle car with his Doggles on...too cute :) He also has a black "Hot Rod Dog" tank he sports for rides.  He's quite a character :) People everywhere just adore him and we all love him to pieces!  He's lookin' gorgeous these days.  All his hair has come back in so nicely, it's shiny and thick; he's just so handsome!  We recently went on a trip to NY and stayed in at the Red Roof Inn...highly recommended for traveling with pets ;).  He and the kids shared a bed :) He is a very good traveling companion; we literally can take him anywhere.  He's even been to school to meet the kids in our son's kindergarten class...because he was Garrett's show and tell, now they all want a SCBR dog.  I think Murray's favorite things right now are rides, playing with the kids, just being a goof ball and eating chicken.  He LOVES chicken!!

UPDATE 3/10/07 - We are really happy to report that Murray is adjusting very well with his forever family.  We all agree that it feels like he's been with us forever.  And we can not imagine life with out him!  He and the resident cat, Tito, are getting along nicely and Tito is even learning how to box :) Last week the two of them decided that it would be okay to share the dog bed...and now we find them snoozin' together all the time.  So cute!  Murray just adores everyone he meets, adults, kids, dogs, cats...everyone!
He gives the best boxer kisses and has made everyone smile so much more around here!! He is always with one of us.  He literally goes everywhere with us!  Loves car rides; he takes our son to school and picks him up everyday...it's one of his "jobs."  His favorite thing is going to the bank with me.  The ladies always make of him and send him a cookie, which he of course devours immediately.  He thoroughly enjoys trips to PetCo and PetSmart and really likes to visit the ferrets, I think he remembers the ferrets his foster family had.  And has had a blast at the beach chasing the ball and sticks and running after the kids in the sand.  Yes, I said beach...we can't stay away...even in the dead of winter :) :)
Murray has been to the Vet for a well-doggie check-up and passed with flying colors.  He needed a rabies shot and a dental cleaning because of tartar build-up.  Our Vet was so impressed with him and said someone must have been very sad to have to part with this fella.  His coat looks awesome.  He had lost quite a bit of hair due to stress and his colors were a little dull, but now the hair is filling in and his colors are vibrant and shiny.  He is such a good looking, proud boy!  He is scheduled to be micro-chipped this coming Thursday at the CVHS.  We are waiting to hear on the Obedience class in Dover, NH.  We mailed in the form for the class and called to confirm but have not yet heard back from the center.  Until he starts we will continue working with him here daily.  He walks wonderfully on a leash.  He knows all kinds of commands/tricks like sit, paw, down, roll-over, easy, up, stay, stay and come etc.  He really just wants to please.  We all love to watch his nubby w iggle with excitement when he realizes that he's done something that made us happy :) He even humors our daughter and lets her dress him up in whatever she fancies.  It's quite funny to see and 80lb male dog walk around in a purple tutu :)  It makes her happy though; and that makes Mr. Murray happy too.
He's just awesome! We can't thank SCBR enough!!  Everywhere we go we proudly tell people who dote on him that he is a SCBR dog and what a great organization you are.  He's a good ambassador.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!  Murray was the missing piece to our little family :)

2/9/07 - Murray has been adopted!

1/29/07 -
Well we would like everyone to met our first foster baby Murray.  We are just thrilled to have this wonderful guy with us.  Saturday was a very rough day for him being in the car for so many hours, he cried all the way home.  He was so upset and tired he slept for 16 hours after arriving home.  We would like to thank the wonderful people who helped bring Murray to us. Murray is a wonderful dog, and so very laid back.  He seems to be potty trained and he is so gentle when offered cookies.  His foster Dad thinks he has the cutest face.  Murray has only been with us for two days, but he has fit in real well.  He has met the cat in the house, and let me just say that Murray was very curious, but Oliver (the cat) was not very friendly.  We have decided to go very slow with the introductions.  Murray has made quick friends with his foster brother the German Shepard.  Murray follows him around to get the lay of the land.  The two of them together  start playing like they have been together all of their lives.  At night Murray has even convinced his foster parents' to share the bed.  Whoever adopts this sweetie will be very lucky.  I will share more as we all get to know
this wonderful pooch a little better.

1/28/07 -
Well we have the pleasure of a very first foster Murray. We were able to get him yesterday. He had a very rough day, and he cried all the way home. He is such a cutie. He was met by his new playmate Schultz our six year old german shepard, and they hit it right off.  Murray is settling in quite well. He is learning the routine of the household. As far as I can tell he has never been around cats before. Murray is trying to be so gentle with our cat, but the cat is not very happy. We will take the introduction very slowly. I am going to try to take pictures later today (as soon as I learn how to work the camera).
