UPDATE 7/14/08 - We got the results and MOBY heartworm is fine. That a great relief. Just a pill a
month for the rest of his life with rechecking every year. It is amazing how treatment for heartworm is so
effective and other illness's can be treated. If they could only find the cure for cancer in boxers and
other dogs we would be all set.
UPDATE 7/5/08 - We can' t believe we have had him for 6 months already........ We call him our
"Imp" but we love him dearly. He is such a love bug....We adore him dearly!!!!!Hopefully everyone had
a great fourth of july. The day after i sent in his update(6/29/08) he was up on the pool deck sleeping
next to our daughter Alisha on the deck!!!!! But he didn't jump into the pool. He is always doing
something to make us laugh. So different than our other two boxers.
UPDATE 6/29/08 - Moby is doing great. He will be going this week for a recheck blood work to
check the statis of his heartworm treatment from before. He has been on pills every month since we got
him.He loves everyone and he such a love bug. His new thing when it is hot is to put his face into the
automatic sprinkler system in our backyard. He gets all wet and thinks nothing of it to cool down. He
has tried to go up the stairs to the pool but won't step on the deck as of yet. We are trying to not invite
him up as we don't want him in our pool with the liner. Rusty, our other dog who has mask cell cancer
is doing pretty good and Moby is at his side most of the time. Both dogs love the groomer and Moby
has become very confortable with her. He is also doing well will his nails being cut by her also. Over all
he is doing great and we love him dearly. He is still the biggest "imp" we've ever seen!
UPDATE 3/30/08 - Moby is doing great! He is at the point that he can predict everything that goes
on in our household. (he has everyone's routine down perfectly). He still has his spats with our 10 year
old boxer, Rusty, but he still follows him around all day. I think this is part of the dominant dog thing.
Most of his spats come from him taking something that Rusty believes is his. Moby does not have an
aggresive bone in his body. He loves everyone. Moby will do ANYTHING to get attention.
Moby went to the groomers for the first time with Rusty and everything went fine. Our groomer felt that
he has a great disposition and seems like a great mutt. He didn't like getting his nails clipped however.
Moby thinks he is the ultimate hunter. He hasn't caught any squirrels, etc. as of yet. There are plenty of
critters running around our yard to keep him busy.
Moby is doing great!
UPDATE 2/29/08 - Let us start by saying that Moby is doing great. We'd have to say that both Moby
and the family have adjusted nicely to each other. Moby is a VERY high energy pooch. Our first
boxer (who passed away three years ago) was similar except for Moby's "impish" tendencies. He is like
a small child that is constantly getting himself in trouble. Not real bad things, just stuff like he'll
disappear for a moment and then reappear as a blur going by with one of your favorite leather boots
dangling from his mouth. We deal with him and then exclaim " that's Moby!".
Moby is an extremely loving dog. We know that he doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He's just
such an IMP!
Moby is also a tremendous watchdog. He knows everything that goes on around our house and also in
the neighborhood. He's gotten used to our neighbors and our routines. He's definitely the best watch
pooch we've every had. All in all, he's solidly a part of our family. Our older boxer, Rusty, still has
some "Wild Kingdom" moments with him (once or twice a week) but is hanging out with him at every
opportunity. They are always together. We also take Moby everywhere with us.
To sum things up, we're thrilled that Moby has entered our life.
UPDATE 1/27/08 - We adopted MOBY on 12/29/07 and he joined our family which includes
RUSTY a (Fawn) 10 year old Boxer. This is our 3rd boxer. I previously had a brindle boxer like Moby
for 13 years named ROCKY (adopted at one year). Rocky died of cancer but also had sub aortic
stenosis(a heart murmur) and we never had problems with this murmur as he was ultrasounded many
times during his life. Moby is doing great and went to the vet last week to follow up to his heart worm
treatment and also had roundworm (which we are treating). The vet said he is beautiful and a great
behaved dog. Moby seem to like everyone he meets. He has adjusted well as both of our children were
home for a few weeks for there college break . Right now both boxers are missing the children but they
will get use to it again. He loves to ride in the car and also love his walks. When we work, he goes in
the crate for about 5 hours and just enters his crate will no problems. He sleeps on our bed with my
husband Jay and myself as Rusty has a bed on the floor where he can stretch out to sleep. Moby sleeps
in a ball all rolled up. Moby races around our fenced in yard and Rusty just kind of watches him (as his
back legs can't keep up with Moby). It has helped Rusty (Rusty has Mask Cell Cancer which we found
out after we started the adoption process) as I think he not as lonely as before when he was alone. We
are happy to have two Boxers in our lives again and plan on never having just one again as it is so much
easily and better on the dogs to have someone to be with, play with, and spend time with our family.
We are glad to give a dog a home as Rusty we got as a puppy and everyone wants a puppy but it nice
to get a older dog who really needed a home. Moby is the ultimate imp. He gets himself in trouble
(small things) every two minutes. Then he runs around wagging his tail, and shaking that body as much
as to say, "hey don't you love me?" He is a howl. We joined the online group
(scbr@yahoogroups.com) and find it very informative with a lot of good information shared by
everyone.
12/29/07 - Moby has been adopted!
11/3/07 - Moby has arrived at the Boxer Bungalow on the Links. Thanks to Carol and George for
picking him up from the vet. Moby was a stray and was brought in with a collar embedded around his
neck. They think he's between 9-12 months, but I think he may be a little older. He's a beautiful, tall,
neutered, brindle boy who's a little on the thin side, but is in great shape otherwise. He prances when he
walks and it's pretty amazing to watch. We also found out that he won't be staying here for long as he
is heartworm positive and needs treatment and a place to recover - in peace and that's not the
Bungalow. The Bungalow has a very busy lifestyle and Moby will need to rest while he is treated. So
when Moby gets to his new foster home - we'll let you know. Once this boy is finished with his
treatment he will make an excellent part to any family. He gets along with kids both young and old and
actually likes my husband. The last foster we had was a little timid with men. He did try to pull rank on
Riley, but she put him in his place. I think he's actually very afraid of her- so he sort of stays away from
her. That's all for tonight. I'll send his beautiful pictures tomorrow.

MOBY NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Moby has heartworm and needs about 6-8 weeks of treatment and lots of crate rest before he can go to his home. Heartworm treatment is very expensive & it will cost about $500 to get him healthy and ready to be adopted. If you can help with even $5 or $10 toward his care, it will be very much appreciated!
